Service: 4 Food: 4 Ambiance: 4 Cleanliness: 4 We were wandering Downtown Pittsburgh looking for a place to grab an early dinner. We struck out at 3 other places on the same block (didn't have reservations) and ended up here as they were able to sit out table of 4 easily. Our server was no nonsense but friendly enough. Drinks came out fast and food did not take long either. We ordered: Perogies: App comes with 4 and they were hot, crispy on the outside with soft warm potatoes on the inside. Get it with a side of sour cream. Fish Sandwich: (pictured) this sandwich was huge!! The picture only shows half a sandwich as I forgot to take a picture before sharing half with my kid. The fish was crispy and flaky. Did not feel greasy at all! Hot Nashville Chicken: (pictured) huge piece of friend chicken with a peppery spice. Served open faced on a thick slice of toast. Burger: Nicely cooked, even with it being done Med-well, the burger was thick and juicy. Wings: lots of flavors to choose from... Bummed they didn't have the Honey Habenero. Garlic Parm and Redbeards sauces were good! Overall a solid 4 star restaurant for bar and American fare (and one with probably the cleanest bathroom I've ever seen in a sports bar!)

Our server was great, they were out of the machine that made “espresso martinis” which was odd. Before I say the rest, again the server was fantastic. And I can look past all of the drink issues because it was a game day. What I can’t look past is the laziness and cheapness the restaurant had towards nachos, which should be a staple bar food. It has liquid cheese. When I asked if there should be melted cheese they said, that’s what they owners use. Toppings were limited, to be honest. When I asked if there was salsa, they said the “chopped tomatoes” is what they used. There is no avocado. Come on Pittsburgh, be better. Come on owners, you already have great staff, just try harder…

Redbeard's was an awesome experience. We were with a group in the reserved area upstairs. They manage to focus on standard bar fare without too many frills to deliver just darn good food. There's nothing wrong with jazzed up and fancy food, but sometimes you just want a solidly good burger or piece of Chicken and Redbeard's delivers. In addition to good food the drink selections are decently sized and well rounded and the pricing is fair. Service was also excellent. Our son spilled his Froot Loops he brought to snack on and one of the employ offered to call the 7/11 across the street to see if they had more!! We hope to return to this location soon.

My friends and I were there 7/23

Edit: another reviewer said the manager looked liked John waters—yeah it was that guy. He does low key look like a younger version of John waters.

My two friends and I started at the upstairs bar and whoever was bartending up there really didn't care and didn't get me and my friend's drink order until 15 minutes after we had sat down. It wasn't busy upstairs. My friends and I weren't even mad, but we didn't want to keep waiting that longs for drinks so I paid for the two drinks I ordered, tipped $5, and went downstairs.

While we were sitting downstairs at the bar we were complimenting the speedy bartender downstairs because he was obviously really busy and trying his best to get to everyone. We were just talking amongst ourselves about how the bartender upstairs just really didn't care at all. Me and my friends are all bartenders/service industry. I never complain about service unless I can tell the person serving me has literally zero hustle and doesn't even care that we were sitting there. Even still, we didn't bring this complaint to management. We just moved down stairs and were talking amongst ourselves when the skinny guy with the earpiece behind bar interjected (I'm guessing he was the manager). He was really upset we said anything and said it was so busy. Yeah it was busy downstair, not upstairs. When we were upstairs there were two men up there that agreed the service upstairs wasn't good and moved to the bar downstairs with us.

Then, my and I were going to step out onto the patio with our drink for a minute when the earpiece guy cut me off and told me were weren't allowed to take them out there (in an unnecessarily aggressive manner I might add). I asked him why since there was a patio and he told me drinks are only allowed on the patio if theyre served on the patio. I didn't argue and put my drink back at the bar where I was sitting. About 10 minutes later three people are standing on the patio with the drinks they had bought at the bar. So I think he just went out of his way to make that up since he had just decided to not like me and my friends since we complained about the service we got.

Later I started talking to this girl at the bar with her friends and they kicked all of us out. I don't know if her friends said/did something, but we weren't with that group and no one told me why me and my friends were getting kicked out.

Yeah, we had complained about the service upstairs but we just cashed out and moved downstairs and didn't bring it up to management. The manager overheard us and decided to make a big deal about it. He was the only one that was mad. Not only that, but we were complimenting the bartending who was serving us. My friend paid for our tab and I know tipped him really well. Plus, I had personally handed the bartender downstairs a $20 because we could all see how busy he was.

Food 5/5

Downstairs Bartender 5/5

Earpiece Manager Guy 0/5 -- you were clearly having a bad day and just decided to take it out on us. Please learn how to regulate your emotions better. Also, customers are allowed to complain about bad service when we weren't being rude or disrespectful about it at all and I still tipped more than 20% for the two drinks I ordered from her. We also tipped the downstairs bartended way more than 20% and were nothing but respectful to staff. I didn't even argue with you when you (really rudely) told me I "wasn't allowed" to bring my drink on the patio when multiple other people...

We had the pleasure of dining out at Redbeard's Sports Bar and Grill. The hostess was very polite and gave us the option of seating. After a few seconds, our waiter arrived, a young man named Terrence H. He offered the drink menu and told us about happy hour. From the second he introduced himself, we felt this was someone who enjoys helping others experience the restaurant to its fullest. The delivery of our drinks was quick. Terrence gave us a few minutes with the menus. He returned and not only took our order but also discussed our options with us. Terrence checked with us every time he walked past our table. Not overbearing, just enough for us to feel he is helping us to have a great experience at Redbeard's. The chef in the kitchen and their staff place a lot of care on the presentation of the food. We both ordered sandwiches, but they were presented in a way that made it clear they were extremely proud of their work. The service was quick, and the food was delivered to our table hot. Terrence continued to check on us and continued to provide an excellent service. We do not eat out much, but we were going to a show at the Byham Theater, and we wanted to try something new. Based on the service we received and the food we were served, we both agreed we will be back and this will be our restaurant whenever we see our next show, if not sooner. After we paid the check, we took the time to shake the hand of Terrence to personally thank him for giving us this experience. We then had the opportunity to meet the owner. I also thanked him for the great food and for having a great staff. The initial contact with a staff member could make or break a restaurant. If you are ever on Sixth St. in Pittsburgh, this is a...

This unfortunately a locals bar, and not every bartender treats people with respect.

I came in, ordered my food right away, and just kept to myself. The bartender provided horrible service. Didn't come back for 5 minutes after I didn't know what I wanted to drink. Then when it came to getting a doggy bag, it was crazy. "Do you want containers for everything?" Then she says "let me go get you a bag." Never comes back with a bag. "Oh I thought you didn't want one, usually people are fine without it."

She comeback and says, "Have a BETTER day!" When I confronted her, "well you been rude to me the entire time." I'm the customer, I don't need to be friendly, I can sit say as little as I want. Not that I was rude, I was just keeping to myself.

I spoke to the manager and she brushed it off like it wasn't a big deal. "She never has done anything like this before." So what she gets a free pass and I must be wrong? "I don't think she meant anything by it." She literally justified her actions to me.

Seriously, worst service of my life, and I eat out a lot. You don't know me, don't comment on how I'm feeling. So judgemental, dismissive just plan bad customer service.

If you're debating on where to go, go to Shiloh Bar or Summit. I've lived here for 3 years, and those bars are lovely. Nikos if you don't mind smoking. The only reason I ever go to Redbeard's if I was in the mood for a quesadilla, but I think that...
