I hate giving this place 3 stars but after last night, I must.

I usually come here monthly with friends, especially on Taco Tuesdays. Some of the bartenders know me and know that I usually go for my favorite entree, the fish tacos.

My lady and I came here last night. It was by far, the saddest experience I’ve had at Beerhive. The bartender played on her phone for a couple of minutes before asking us we we’d like to drink. We grabbed 2 ciders. We were told that the kitchen would close in 15 if we wanted food. I ordered my usual, the fish tacos and my lady ordered a burger w/ fries. We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer.

15 minutes later, our food comes out. Now, I’ve had these tacos plenty of times. But what I saw in this taco tray was NOT Beerhive tacos (see picture below). They were skimpy on the fish. Literally had more tortilla than fish. Usually, these tacos are huge. Hell, they didn’t even layer the pickled red onions on top and slather the green hornet sauce the way it usually is. This was a sad excuse for a fish taco. I’ve raved about this place and their tacos before, giving them all praise, especially considering I’m apart of the YELP team here in Pittsburgh, but I don’t know what has gone wrong. I asked the bartender did they change the tacos ingredients/ recipe. She just responded “I don’t know”. She didn’t even try to see if there were any issues with our food or try to talk with the cook about it.

The chips were absolutely greasy and stale ! Look at the picture. This is all the chips they gave, too! All this was $53 by the way.

Needless to say, I’m highly disappointed. I come here often, but after last night, y’all have really let down a devoted customer. I doubt I’ll be back in unless...

My wife and I love trying new places. We were pretty excited to try this place as it looked exactly like a place we would frequent. Before I get into our experience, I want to preface this with the fact that we are both EXTREMELY laid back in bars/restaurants and are the exact opposite of a Gordon Ramsey-type person. Our waitress/bartender was Mandy and she came off as someone that hated her job with a passion. We thought maybe it was just because they were busy and she was working the whole bar (shame on management for understaffing). Then another lady came out to help and she was an exact clone of Mandy. Both had horrible people skills and the one knocked my wife’s sunglasses on the floor and didn’t say a word. We waited about 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food (which was pretty good to be honest). We never got asked for refills and I had to get the check from the bar. I then stood for 5-10 minutes before I could even be rung up (it was much less busy at this point). I regret the money I spent there and will NEVER EVER go back. Rude service from not one, but two scene queens, is not what I expect when I try to grab a beer and lunch with my wife. To the owner/management: I highly recommend you address the issues with your staff because we were not the only table receiving this “special treatment”. We watched the other lady (not Mandy) get upset and crumple a bill in front of customers because they asked to split it. When she walked away the guy said that’s the last time we will be back. Good...

I have always enjoyed my visits to the Beerhive in the past, and mostly enjoyed my most recent visit...but had to make note of a few points of dissatisfaction. When I came in, the bar was mostly filled up, so I took a seat at one of the 4-person tables along the wall. When the bartender come over to acknowledge me, she said something to the effect of "I'm gonna move you over to one of these smaller tables in the middle." Now I am not picky about where I sit, and if she had simply explained that they needed the larger tables for larger parties and asked me nicely to move, I would've completely understood...but the way she came off as if she was commanding me to switch tables just left a bad impression.

I ordered the fish tacos, which were just as yummy as they always were...but I was a bit disappointed that they came in a cheap cardboard tray instead of the metal rack they used to be in. The rack kept them nicely separated and easy to pick up...the cardboard tray just left everything soggy and messy.

I hate to leave bad reviews for local places, as I know that everyone has their off days...but this really is one of my favorite spots in the Strip and I know they...

A staple of The Strip District.  The Beerhive is a neighborhood bar and grill that has tons of beer options, both canned and rotating taps.  They have a full bar as well and feature specialty cocktails from time to time.   They have burgers, wings, tacos and more, all made from scratch in-house while using tons of local ingredients.  Their meatballs, burgers and wing sauces are all made on site. I tried the fried pickles which are hand breaded Pittsburgh Pickle Company pickles served with spicy ranch. Their smash burger is amazing, the burger is sourced entirely within walking distance of their front door! The bun is from Mancini’s, the meat is from Strip District Meats, the cheese is from Penn Mac, the onions are from Local Provisions, the pickles are Pittsburgh Pickle Company & the Hive sauce is made in house! It’s a local Pittsburgh business sandwich spectacular!!! Of course had to get it with their delicious fresh cut fries!

Went here for a birthday lunch with colleagues. They had just opened for the day and the young waitress was very, very friendly. I didn't mind the atmosphere although I can tell it's very cramped, at least down below (there is an upstairs with seating) and it truly has the Pittsburgh "feel." I got the hot garlic wings and in terms of wings they were okay, but I would recommend getting one of the sandwiches they have as all of my colleagues said they were very good. $7-$10 for your sandwiches and burgers. Definitely a place better than most on the strip.
