Waitstaff was great. Drinks were great. Hands down WORST burger I was ever served in my life. Straight up burnt. Like - crispy burnt. Crunchy burnt. I asked for medium. Mind boggling that anyone who has ever cooked food for even a second of their life would deem that okay to send out to a table. Also..I asked for tots. Got burnt sweet potato tots. Burnt. Crispy. Black. Not even close to acceptable. I had flown in for a job and this was down the street - I hadn’t eaten since breakfast (as we all know they basically starve you on planes these days😂🫠) and I would have eaten ANYTHING. And even still…this was disgusting. It was like the cook forgot he had food on the grill and in the fryer and just sent it out anyhow. Just insanely bad.
** Updated response for the owner: No. I didn’t report my burger to the waitstaff. My burger wasn’t replaced or comped. And I still tipped 20% because it wasn’t my servers fault. It was just so inexplicably bad - there was no fixing it. And I was too hungry to wait for something else. So I just dealt with it. And - apparently - there was ANOTHER table dealing with the same issue. So - I was correct in assuming that the burger was so bad - me saying anything about it wasn’t gonna change it. If a burger ordered medium is coming out of the kitchen burnt that bad - there’s an issue with the cook that ain’t getting fixed that night. I love small businesses. Happy to support. Always do! But - reviews are here to tell people their honest experience with no slant. I honestly loved the drinks and our server was great. First things I said in the review. But - absolutely unacceptable to send out whatever got sent out to me and that other table. I was in town for work - and that was my one and only experience of the bar. As they say - you only get one chance to make a first impression. I’m sure this honest feedback will help you folks make better first impressions for other folks down the line. No hard feelings at all. It’s just a one night experience that I’m sharing…and that was mine. I’m sure - based on other reviews (which is the reason I went) - you folks will push...
Read moreFood: (6/10) I ordered the crab rangoon and a different variety of sushi. The sushi was very fresh and met my expectations but was pretty forgettable as far as sushi goes.
Drinks: (7/10) I was very impressed by the nice amaro selection and cocktails that utilized amaro and other bitters in a unique and interesting way. The "Fast Car" was a highlight of the evening for me and is now something I make at home.
Service: (7/10) Our server was pleasant and attentive and we were well attended to, she was knowledgeable about the menu and was able to provide good recommendations based on our preferences.
Atmosphere: (7/10) I love being able to sit out near the street while still in the restaurant, this place is in a cool spot and we could see the Andy Warhol Bridge right from our table down the street. Inside was dark, warm and inviting. The style of the place was nothing special but it was simple and classy looking. It was kind of odd that our table was parallel and below another table that was inside the restaurant but it didn't bother me all that much. Restaurant rating guide
I don’t agree with the way most reviews are handled on google as I think most people give a restaurant five stars that they enjoy because it feels like anything below a five is saying that something was suboptimal or didn't meet expectations. I will give my true rating out of ten and then likely an inflated google rating so that my review is relative to other reviews on google.
This is how I rate restaurants in order for people to understand my preferences when I get a meal out. I tend to disregard reviews that focus on things other than mainly the food so I want to give insight into why I may give a restaurant a good rating but complain about the service or vice versa. A zero is the single worst meal I have ever eaten and a ten is the single best meal I have ever eaten. A five would be a perfectly average meal that meets expectations but is completely forgettable. 70% Food/Drinks 17.5% Service 12.5%...
Read moreWhen I arrived I was confused, where to sit, do I self seat or should I go ask someone where available seating was. So I went to the bar and asked a server. She told me wherever I can find a spot. The bar room was very crowded so I sat outside. I was engaged by a server almost immediately, despite the crowd. I got the notorious POG which was pretty good but huge glass and lots of juice. I ordered the fried shrimp as an app, and I was waiting on my plus 1 to arrive. When he arrived we ordered more drinks and the corn dip. We did not like the corn dip, so he sent it back. We then got the crab Rangoon dip and I got the fish and chips. Crab Rangoon wasn’t bad but it wasn’t impressive . We did not finish it. The fish came, huge portion! Battered Cod was cooked perfectly but lacked seasoning. No seasoning at all. The tartar sauce was ok, not enough for the size of the fish. Cocktail sauce had great flavor. We called it quits with the food and decided to have some shots, we drank patron reposado. Our bill came to $220 which wasn’t bad. Considering we drank top shelf, we took a bottle of the Bogle red Zinfandel to go. I may go back and try the sushi at time when it’s...
