This was my first and last dining experience at Social House 7!
First, the atmosphere was nice. They played remixes of billboard's top 100, which was fun and upbeat. It set a good vibe for our dining experience. Our waitress was very nice, but she seemed frantic and anxious. Multiple times we witnessed an older gentleman (manager?) approach her and firmly talk at her. We watched her run from one end of the restaurant to the next. Watching this unhappy employee struggle killed the vibe. Also, we struggled to get her attention. We could see how overworked she was, so much so that she could not stop and ask if we needed refills or anything. I felt genuinely bad for her. She only came to our table twice. Once to take our order and the second to give us our check.
Secondly, the food came out relatively fast, which was great. However, it was bland, cold, undercooked, and/or too salty because it was drenched in soy sauce. For example, the ginger fried rice was so salty and cold that no one touched it. The food was overpriced for the quantity and quality. It’s like paying for an entree but instead, you receive an appetizer. I understand you pay more for less when it comes to better quality food, but the quality wasn’t there. The sushi we received was not fresh, and it tasted like Giant Eagle sushi, which you pay a fraction of the price for.
Third, when it came time to pay the bill, the waitress asked us how we wanted to pay. To make things easy, we split the check down the middle two ways. She left, and the older gentleman came up and was being pushy with us. It was like he was annoyed that we were still there. Then our waitress returned with one check in the checkbook. Confused, we tried to get her attention, but she ran off. We were confused about the price because it didn’t seem right, so we waited for another 30 minutes, and she didn’t return. So, we left cash and a 30-dollar tip. We walked back to our car form the restaurant. My friends phone was on silence and when she went to connect her phone to the car she saw 15 missed calls from a restricted number. She answered the number when it called back, and it was the restaurant. The staff began to yell at us for not paying our whole tab. Our waitress forgot to give us the other check. The rude employee on the other line was like, “You better get back here, NOW! Your server will have to pay the difference if you don’t come back and pick up your tab!” We drove back down and paid the remainder of our tab. I always pay my tab and tip well, even when the staff isn’t having a good day, and the food stinks. But to be honest, I felt like this restaurant somehow made a profit off of confusing us. For example, we over paid (in cash) for the first bill becaue we left a healthy tip and then tipped again on the second bill we received after they accused us of dining and dashing. Our trip was an extra $50 (in total), which was way more than the tip should have ever been. I doubt that our waitress even took home half of that. That manager probably kept it for himself.
Overall, do not go here! This place is all hype. The food was horrible, the service was horrible, and they treat you nicely until they can’t squeeze any more money out of you. Go to a local place, not...
Read more5 stars for the food and 0 stars for the service and heres why . . . first off i must start off this review by saying i have the utmost respect for the desimone family and all that they have accomplished however this review is not about me and moreso about the americans that come after me . . . so basically i have a great night order a bunch of food and wine and am delighted by the ambience and fast foward to the end of the night when it is time to cash out apparently my cards decline which is because there is a fraud block on my chase account from increase in recent spending however the main focus of this review is the ameircans with disabilities act which is a $55,000 fine per villation . . . now when it comes time to check out the general manager is upset and i tell him immediately that i cannot hear him and that i am a citizen protected under the AMERICANS WITH DISABLITIIES ACT because I have Tinnitus , Complex Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, and I am a gifted adult . Now obviously i cant hear him but visually i can see him and he continues to scream and yell and be agressive towards me even tho i literallt cannot hear him . As a side not all of these statements in terms of CPTSD , Tinnnitus. , and being a profoundly gifted adult he continues to act agressively towards me , make me feel unsafe, unwlecomed, misunderstood, and traumatized from being mistreated simply because my card declinded and i cannot hear him . i even offer to leave my passport with him and whatever else he needed in order to make him feel comforatable that i would pay but irregardless of the $121 bill i had that doesnt matter this is about americans with disablities and i believe firmly that this "general manager" clearly violated my rights and caused unjust harm to me simply because I am a disabled american and could not hear him or understand him because i have tinnitus and cannot hear . Persojnally i dont care about this mistake but this isnt about me it is about the 10000's of disabled americans that cannot stick up for themselves because they are not strong enough or not well enough aware of the laws . I love the AMPD group and the desimones but i will not allow any group of men or women to hurt disable americans for as long as i live . This "General Manager" and "bartender" whom of which piled on top of the the genreal managers aggressions over a measly $120 bill should both be immediatley terminated and all staff across all properties should be immediately instruected and taught on the rules and laws surrounding americans with disablilites. the fact that i was so poorly mistreated and traumatized over a small $120 bill that i could not immediatley rectify because i could not hear is an outright tragedy towards our community . i am deeply saddened and heartbroken to have been treated in this manner by your staff simply because i am an american with disabilities . .. post traumatic stress and tinnitus who at the moment literally could not hear what your general manager was saying . i am saddened that this is what the world has come to . i am saddened that people treat people this way. i am sure that this will not continue to occur in...
Read moreMy recent experience at Social House 7 in Pittsburgh, PA, was nothing short of disappointing. Despite having high hopes for an enjoyable evening, the poor service from the bartenders, slow food service, and exorbitant prices left me with a sour taste in my mouth.
Let's start with the bartenders' service, which was far from satisfactory. My friends and I waited at the bar for what felt like an eternity, a full five minutes, just to be acknowledged. It's not unreasonable to expect a timely greeting and a bit of attention from the bartenders, especially considering the prices they charge for their drinks. Unfortunately, this was just the beginning of our frustrations.
To add insult to injury, we ordered Belvedere vodka, expecting a certain level of quality given the price point. However, it became apparent that we were being served Tito's vodka instead. When we received the bill, we were shocked to find that we had been charged $10 for Belvedere, a clear misrepresentation of the product. When we politely pointed out this discrepancy to the bartender, she insisted that she had served us Belvedere. It was disheartening to witness such dishonesty and a blatant attempt to overcharge customers.
The slow food service only compounded our dissatisfaction. We waited for what seemed like an eternity for our sushi dishes to arrive at our table. Given that Social House 7 is known for its sushi, we expected the food to be a highlight of our dining experience. Unfortunately, the delay in service detracted from our overall enjoyment, and by the time our food arrived, we were already disheartened by the other aspects of our visit.
Considering the poor service, inaccurate drink charges, and slow food service, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Social House 7 to anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience in Pittsburgh. With so many other excellent sushi restaurants in the area, there are plenty of better options available. Save your time and money and explore other dining establishments in the city that prioritize customer satisfaction and honesty in their service. Social House 7, with its extreme prices and horrible service, falls far short...
