I came here around 11:30ish for lunch with my family. There was 6 of us. When we walked in it wasn’t busy at all, probably about 3-4 other tables. Once greeted/beverages order it took our server at least 7-10mins to return to us with said drinks. Our server was friendly and helpful with questions we had with the menu but once our food was ordered we waited well over a half hour to receive our food. Which I usually don’t mind if my food was worth the wait but my burger was subpar at best. The burger patty itself is completely burnt. (See picture) The trip wasn’t a total loss because we ordered some appetizers as well and those were very delicious. I’ll always recommend some fried green beans... which is why I think I’m rating a 3 star. I didn’t completely hate my experience. I wouldn’t be opposed to going again if someone else wanted to but I don’t see myself picking the place myself.

My family frequents Cheers regularly and usually their food rates a 3-4 but they have outdone themselves. I ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich Fairly simple order. The bottom of the bread was the consistency of snot if not for being buttered and toasted it would have fallen apart. The meat was clumped together with uncooked caned mushrooms layered in the middle with the cheese and several pieces of uncooked onions. The French fries were over cooked but still edible. As a rule Cheers make bar quality food, this would not even been gas station quality. The cooks should be ashamed that this made it out the door. I called and talked to the bar manager. She offer to send me a gift card but I had already driven there and back sampled a very poor meal and had no interest in revisiting their establishment any time in the near future.

We stopped at Cheer's after my son's tennis match this fall. I debated back and forth on a few items on the menu. Found the meatloaf and asked the waitress if she would recommend that or a different selection. She was quick to reply that she wasn't a fan of "meat" but many of the locals ordered the meatloaf and loved it. What a great choice!! There was plenty for me to eat and I let my son try a few bites as well. My son had the fish & chips and was satisfied with his selection, but said he would probably order the meatloaf next visit. Now we can't wait for our next visit! You knocked out of ball park Cheer's!!! Thank you to all!

The food is incredible and large portions with a huge variety. It was very difficult to choose what to order because it all looked so good from the pictures and from what we saw being brought out and from what people were saying about it. When ours came we were absolutely thrilled. The onion rings are huge and just like my Dad remembered, beer battered hand dipped just like when he had them for the first time as a kid 60 years ago! The staff is friendly and our server helped us narrow our choices down so it was easier to order something that would be great for us. We splurged and had a cheat day on calories but they had very healthy choices too. It would be a great place for nearly every palate and people with special dietary needs.

I had the 1 lb wet burrito and took most of it home and could easily make 3 meals out of it. We had the large basket of onion rings first. We thought we would have leftovers which was hilarious being that they are so tasty and we hadn't over the years found any anywhere else that made onion rings like them. Finishing that off was quite a feat in itself but they were so good we didn't want to stop, lol. My Dad had The Best Damn Burger minus the jalapenos with sweet potato fries and he couldn't fit his mouth around the whole burger so he had to take a bite from the bottom and then the top and alternate and he had at least another meal left over from it.

We were not intending to have a dessert but looked at the dessert menu for fun and could not resist. There were so many unique and mouthwatering ones to choose from that we decided to split one and after all that food we were glad we split it. It was the BEST layered chocolate cake ever!! The atmosphere was great with cool 80s music and it was just what I needed for a stressful time while my pet was at the Animal Emergency Hospital and I was awaiting word and ended up waiting several hours. He got the best care there over the July 4th weekend but it was something he ended up succumbing to that there was nothing that they or anyone else could have done anything for so this was really a needed highlight and break from all that going on and I'm glad we opted for trying Cheers.

The atmosphere and server were part of the great experience too, relaxing and full of personality in a positive way, the kind that is engaging and attentive but not hovering, and helped me leave my troubles at the door for a minute because everything was...

This restaurant is similar to most of this style - a varied menu with the typical American staples like cheeseburgers, steaks, and salads. We've all been to plenty of restaurants like this and the food is always pretty much what we expect - hot and tasty. It's not super-exciting fare, but the type of place that's nice to go when you don't feel like cooking.

They do have daily specials Sunday through Thursday which are typically around ten bucks and include things like 2for1 wet burritos and all you can eat roast chicken, which is definitely worth a visit if you care for such things. They have a nice fish dinner on Tuesdays right now.

Seating is typical, though they have a very nice outdoor seating area. Plainfield Avenue's rolling commercial vistas provide a unique viewing experience. The restaurant is not overly bright inside, but you aren't eating in the dark.

I found the service, however, to be extremely good. My wife and I have been very happy with our servers the past times we've visited and they take much care to keep the drinks filled. We have a toddler son who can be a bit of a handful, and our servers were very conscientious to get him his food as quickly as possible.

The other night, I was waiting for a somewhat long time for my cheeseburger. It wasn't an amazingly terrible span of time, but longer than you would expect. They delivered it piping hot and I was satisfied, but was informed that it was free since my burger had actually been purloined by another table - this was the second they had had to make!

This was without any speech from me or complaint on the time - they just took responsibility for a lapse in service and made all the effort to correct it. We made sure we left a good tip.

If you're looking for a "Taste of Grand Rapids," this is certainly not anything out of the ordinary, but if you're sticking around and looking for a local restaurant to frequent, it's definitely...

Great burger, amazing fries.

All American Burger - $15: HUGE! It is a half pound burger and on the larger size of half pound. I ordered it medium and it was medium on the inside, but a bit darker on the outside. It had a charcoal flavor, but I confirmed it was actually cooked on a flat surface griddle. It was juicy and delicious.

Overall, it was a wider burger which helps it stay together. I ordered ketchup and mayo and it did slide around, but mainly stayed together. The lettuce, onion, and tomato were all fresh and crisp. The bun was a bit above average. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this burger!

Pub Fries (comes with the burger): A little light on the salt. If they had the right amount of salt, I’d call these my favorite. They are battered perfectly. They are medium cut. The texture was amazing and cooked just right.

Basket of Pub Fries- $9: Probably a little on the small side for what you pay, but great fries!

They do have weekly specials and events. They did not have prices for the desserts and we had to ask. I believe the cheesecake was around $6 (we did not get it).

Service: Helpful for sure. Answered all our questions and was prompt. Got our order right. Refilled my water without me noticing! The burger was served within 15 minutes (as expected).

Atmosphere: Lots of wood trim. Warm feel. It was clean and organized. We had a bit of an issue finding the host (as you come in the door from Plainfield) to be seated since we came in the side door. The bathroom has a TV so you don’t miss the game (if you are concerned).

Tables and chairs as well as booths. Outside there are tables and chairs. They also have a swinging apparatus that has a bench and table connected and you push with your feet. Pretty cool!!

Conclusion: I’d highly recommend them for their burgers and fries. The service and atmosphere were great, too.
