I've gone to freppes 2-3 times a month since they opened . I introduced my friends and family to it and they all go as well. I will not be going anymore. A recent visit to freppes was on a Saturday afternoon. The place was fairly empty, maybe 4 tables sat. My friend and I ordered and ate. When I went to pay the bill there seemed to be some sort of problem with the computers. No big deal. I don't mind siting and waiting a few minutes. After 15 minutes of waiting the waitress came over and said she didn't know when it would be up so we would have to pay with cash instead of the card I was trying to use. I explained I didn't have enough cash. I was asked I wait a little longer. Sure... no problem. A little while later the waiter came by and said not to worry about it. My assumption was they figured They've seen me spend enough money there that the 50 dollar bill was a wash compared the the future business. I thanked them and my friend and I tipped the waitress with the cash we did have (I think it was 10 bucks, could be wrong) and we left.
So far, so good. I had every intention of continuing my frequent visits.
The problem arose tonight, when my girlfriend, her friend and their kids all went to freppes after a soccer game. I got a text from her that she was pulled aside and was told I have to come in soon and pay that bill from last month. I told her I would be right there but, obviously, she was embarrassed and she paid it, she then asked me not to come because she didnt want there to be a scene that would cause more embarrassment.
I have zero issue with paying my debts. Perhaps I (and my cop friend) misunderstood the situation when we were there. My issue is that I've been to the restaurant since that time and nobody has mentioned it to me. They waited til my girlfriend (who they recognized because of our frequency to the establishment) was there with her kids and friends to make her feel bad? Is this how you deal with things freppes? You embarrass a mother? The hell is wrong with you guys?
I hope it was worth it for you. I spent some time averaging prices and I spend about 100-120 a month at freppes, my parents spend about the same, and my neighbor spends a little more. So over the course of a year that's somewhere between 3,000-4,000 dollar in business, not including the tips to your staff. I will no longer be spending any of my time or money in your restaurant. I will also be urging everyone I know around town to do the same.
Let me say again, this is not about the money, it's about the method. Your system wasn't working, I gave you my time. Your system still didn't work and you sent me on my way. I gave you business one more time. You waited for a mother and her children to celebrate a soccer game before embarrassing one of them for a situation that had nothing to do with them. I don't run a restaurant but I don't think that's the...
Read moreWe have been original fans of this place for almost ten years. We even had my husband’s 30th birthday party here right before Covid. Having now tried to go back twice and having horrendous food and service experiences. We unfortunately will no longer be customers here. After already sending our meals back because they were served cold…when we received the bill we were charged for items we never ordered. When we pointed it out the owners daughter (a teenager) who was in the manager role at the time because she came over and said that they don’t take off items off of bills.. I explained that we understand that there were only highschoolers working that night but the service we received was a really disappointing experience and we did not order the items they were trying to charge us for. I also mentioned how we had to send food back that was cold. She then told me again that she is the owners daughter and that she knows that everyone sends back burrito bowls because they get cold quick… I explained that I was aware she is the daughter of the owner, however that doesn’t excuse the service and how they are handling this situation. As several of the workers were my old students I had extra understanding and still tipped our teenage server generously, but we will no longer be customers here. Your restaurant is only as good as the quality of employees...
Read moreNormally I'd give Freppes a great review, I've been patronizing this restaurant for years, I've even moved away from town and keep driving back to consume their foods. However, this last time I was there, the waiter just couldn't get out of his own way. Besides an obvious language barrier which made ordering food way too difficult, we ordered and were charged for an appetizer table side guacamole, but they brought us kitchen made and instead of serving it as an appetizer (for my 6/4 yo to snack on while waiting for their meal), it came with the meal and we never even ate it (they fixed the price after pointing out they never made it table side). Now the meal... My wife and I ordered their chimichangas and they came out super hot, the waiter used oven mits to serve it to us, but instead of placing mine on the table he handed me mine, and burnt my hands, I only noticed the oven mits after he handed this burning hot plate to us. Now why would a plate be this hot? Yeah, it left under the broiler to melt the cheese too long and the food got dried out. The black beans had no flavor, they tasted like they dumped a can of pre-made beans on my plate. I'm really hoping this was an off night, but if this experience repeats, it'll be my last time...
