I have been coming to 3,6,9 for 20 years (since 2004), and my family loved the service and food. I had a wonderful relationship (or so I thought) with the staff and owner. They knew me by name, each time I called, and what typically ordered several times a week (Singapore noodles, and Broccoli with Beef and an order of fried rice), that typically feeds my family of 4. I made the same order on 3/29/2022, and I show up to pickup my order. For the first time, I didn't recognize the person working the register, or any of the faces of the staff coming from kitchen. It looked like they increased the prices by a few dollars for each entre, and now they charge for white rice?? I left my typical 20% tip (I really enjoyed the old staff), and noticed these little containers on the counter, and was told that we are waiting on the fried rice. I immediately asked, that is my food (both the Beef and Broccoli, and the Singapore noodles were in very small containers)? The lady said yes, containers are smaller, but we stuff more into them (what???). I told her, what happened to using the "to-go" containers (some sitting by the window), and she said we are new owners, with new containers. I was shocked and saddened to hear that there are new owners. I asked the people that worked here before, they are no longer around? She confirmed my statement. I was just in there a couple (maybe 3) weeks earlier and they didn't say anything about changing ownership or leaving (I have been coming here for 20 years). I am in here every Thanksgiving, as a member of my team at the office needs to work on a holiday, and I always select Thanksgiving. I could always rely on enjoying duck with rice from this location.
I waited an additional 15 minutes for the little box (McDonald's uses a similar container for their big Mac's) of fried rice. While generous, it is not standard to tip for take-out, especially when I am coming to the counter, and forced to wait an extended period of time, so I was really regretting leaving any tip at all.
I arrive home, and the family agreed that it didn't taste the same (too much SALT, or MSG??? in the Broccoli Beef!!), and the Singapore noodles didn't taste fresh. It certainly, WAS NOT the same amount of food for the family and we had to go out for desserts.
I am very sad that after 20 years of ordering Chinese from this location, they are under new management with poor service, and less quality food. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!!!!
Shrinking the packaging to decrease serving size, and increasing the price by 20 to 25% is not the way you treat loyal customers of the former owner (THAT IS HOW YOU LOOSE THEM!!). I asked why I didn't get my order in the old containers (sitting by the window) and you serve just argued with me about the servings now being increased in the new...
Read moreI went there the first time today after having moved to Plano a few months ago. When I walked in the staff was having their meal but one of them got up immediately to see me, grabbing a menu and asking me where I would like to sit. She didn't show me to a table but let me decide which I liked best. When I told her I had to go wash my hands first she patiently waited at the tables until I came back and sat down. Because the place is called 269 BBQ and I love BBQ pork my choice was easy. With fried rice. I was enjoying my coke because again it was 95 F outside and I could use the ice cold cool down. The portion was more than enough for one person and do was the rice. I eat a lot of Chines and even worked in a Chinese restaurant as waiter for a few years so I've learned no fried rice dish is the same. This was not extraordinary but it was good. And the pork was definitely to my liking, nice and crisp with sa nice sauce that bites. After serving me the waitress who looked like he was part of the family who runs the place went back to their table by the wallto continue their meal which I don't mind at all, everybody has to eat and in a restaurant I know you eat when you find 5 minutes somewhere. I noticed she kept looking at my coke several times to see if I needed a refill so it's not that they ignored me and left me dry. It was clear English is not their strongest asset but the food is good and that's what matters to me. My Chinese doesn't go any further than Ni Hao anyway which means Hello but that's where I get off the bus. But I will definitely go back and try some of their soups and the other dishes. It was well worth the...
Read morewe get their takeout a lot, and the food is always great. buuuuuut: tonight, we dined in, and one of the staff came around to our table with his phone out. he offered to fill our water, and asked us how is everything. we responded amicably... and then realized he had his phone out, and pointed at us, as he ended the conversation... then he did the same thing to the next table. as the face of the phone was turned towards me, I saw it was a recording app up. I did not consent to being recorded. for security purposes is fine and standard practice, but this wasn't that. he was recording the people he spoke to, casually. we're not on friendly enough terms for that. and if this was for advertising purposes, he needs to pay us. I wanted to raise this as an issue to them directly, but my husband didn't want a confrontation. so we just left. given that... the food was delicious (full stars for food), but I can't imagine we'll be back - we have many amazing Chinese restaurants in the area. I was very uncomfortable being recorded in this way. usually if I go into a business where I might be recorded, there's a waiver for me to sign - I have to consent to it in writing....
