Read moreThis place is just so-so. Take it from me i have eaten Gyros from all over the world. The gyro meat served here are not sliced from a rotating skewer as is the traditional way, but is chopped up. The portion size is sufficient for 1, but just about. The taste is decent, not bad, but nothing to rave about. The place offers platters which is served in a 6 inch size aluminium foil takeout bowl..with rice and an array of vegetables as a base topped with gyro chicken or lamb and beef meat and topped with the a choice of one or a mix of 3 sauces. The restaurant concept is simple but minimalistic in nature. There are basically just 2 choices...a platter or a sandwich..and if you are planning a takeout, you can be out of the place in less than 5 min. The fountain drinks are not self serve and even for water, one has to request it from the server from behind the counter, which seems lame. Not a single spoon on the self serve cutlery stand...should have had this when rice is a base for the gyro platter??? Waffle fries are decent and available for around $2.50 There are about 5 small tables and a couple high tables. The server who prepped my food couldnt even pronounce the very food he served...and kept saying "jiro"...seems the owner should prep the staff specially when ithe word is the restaurant's name. Overall, just ok...i cant say i would...
Read moreIm gonna be honest, I used to dislike this place. I knew someone that worked there so I got to eat it fairly often. It was inconsistent and just wasn't that great, maybe 2 stars on a bad day or 3 stars on a good day. But as time went on the place has gotten much better. Maybe since they are more well known so they push out food faster, thus it's fresher but the quality has improved. It's like a subway or chipotle im which you pick whether you want a bowl or wrap, then you choose your protein, then whatever stuff you want from the salad bar. With a simple concept like this, freshness is important. The rice is better cooked, the meat is never burnt, and all extra side dishes like fries and stuff are all made to order so they are never cold or soggy. They also added some new items and overall the atmosphere is less grimy.
While the food is simple and kind of "plain" the food is rather tasty and filling and especially if you get the bowl a great value. I love their falafel too, and it's actually formed and fried to order as opposed to frozen patties. Just a word of advice to whoever orders, ask for sauce on the side since they are a bit heavy handed in the sauce. Their hot sauce is great btw! They also have chapli kebab which is a heavily spiced meat patty, which is a unique and tasty item that I...
