Dave's Hot Chicken — Restaurant in Plano

Ever since I moved to Texas from La, I always had an urge to try to something new in this unfamiliar environment, On one particular day, I was getting my daily 50k steps in, walking around the street. When all of a sudden, my petite delicate miniature stomach growled! My fertile feminine mind had to think of something quick! And to not parish under the blazing sun. That’s when I realized I had stumbled upon an unfamiliar area.. I looked up graciously and read the letters that would surprisingly changed my life for the better. I read out loud “Dave’s hot chicken..” My closed minded self could have never imagined what would happen next.. As I entered the establishment, I was greeted warmly by the fellow workers. I asked them to surprise me with their best dish! The workers were quite hypnotized by my hyper-feminine fertile appearance, but that was not new. (To me of course) quite some time later, the nice employees took me to a nice warm seat near the window and I sat there. I remember smelling the most wonderful sense of a spicy meaty aroma. It smelled like chicken! But the chicken I know is not supposed to be seasoned, nor washed! I was quite hesitant to try the chicken. But it was as if I were hypnotized by ITS aroma! All of a sudden, I heard one of the workers calling my name, That’s when I knew my order was complete! As I went to go get my food. I was starstruck by the chickens appearance.. the chicken looked crisp and tender. I immediately knew I was in for a good time..I delicately cat walked my way back to my seat. And I dived right into the tenders! I delicately nibbled on a big piece of the hot crunchy chicken tender. and NOT to my surprise it was the most delicious chicken I’ve ever eaten before. We don't live that close to this place, but we were in the area and my wife wanted to give it a try.

There was only one person working the front of the house, so if you need something, you have to wait for him to finish taking the order of the person in line. Be sure and ask for everything you need when you pick up your food.

Our order was a #1 (two tenders), a #4 (1 slider), a #3 (1 slider 1 tender), their new 10 piece nugget, and 2 fountain drinks. The total after tax was $56.

The 'hot' on my chicken tender was ok. Some places hot will leave my lips tingly, which is why I ordered the slider as a medium. The hot here did not leave my lips tingly. Spice level was similar to Chick-fil-a's spicy sandwich.

My kids got lite mild. Lite mild is a dry seasoning that is dusted on the food. It tasted similar to taco seasoning.

Whatever cleaner they use on the tables has made the table tops so that they're all sticky. I don't know what they use for cleaner, but I know 409 attacks varnish countertops.

The food just being Ok and the sticky tables probably would have kept this review a 4, maybe a 5. The reason for dropping it to a 3 is below.

Kiosk defaults to 18% tip and the only service they provide is taking your order. You have to walk up to order and then you have to come get your food when they call your number.

I hit no-tip and immediately knew from the sigh the cashier made that my order would be messed with. Sure enough, my 'medium' slider had no sauce on it. I would have said something, but I had eaten most of it before I gave a bite to my wife and she confirmed that it had no flavor.

They offered suggestions, explained the spice levels with a smile, and checked in to make sure everything hit the mark. It felt like hospitality straight from the heart.

Now for the food—fresh, hot, and absolutely unforgettable. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor in every bite. Whether you’re a heat-seeker going for or keeping it mild, every option is a hit. The sides? Just as impressive. The fries were golden and crisp, and that kale slaw? A surprisingly fresh, cool balance to all the heat.

The overall experience? Flawless. Clean environment, great music, and a vibe that feels both fast-casual and thoughtfully curated. It’s rare to find a spot that nails every element, but Dave’s Hot Chicken truly delivers on every front.
