To survive as a high-end restaurant in the bed of a ton of other high end options in Plano is very tough! Expectations are set very high as soon as you drive up, to the entrance, then hosts, wait staff, and flavor of the food. Valet svc wearing masks was extremely efficient and enjoyed they have used the avail technology of sending a simple txt with your claim ticket. Runners to retrieve the vehicles at the end were running to move the vehicles through a tight spot. Walking in, all staff were wearing masks as the place had a nice entrance with very nice inviting hosts with a beautiful lit bar to the left with lots of room! We were very fortunate to have a private room with unbelievable service. Some places do not have enough wait staff to handle a large group. Not the case here. Wait staff was on pt from the time you walk into your private party to the end of boxing your leftovers for you, which is ALWAYS a nice touch some other places forget about, to opening the door for an easy exit. HIGHLY recommend the Calamari appetizer! Unfortunately the large Shrimp appetizer had size, but wasn't as fresh as we'd hoped. Being from Louisiana where we've had tons of fresh seafood is a curse when eat out since it's tough when we are served with not so fresh Shrimp! Ok flavor but not fresh. Wagu Meatballs were ok. Was hoping for more spices and it just tasted like a simple spaghetti meatball where spaghetti noodles probably would have enhanced the appetizer and could be made into a kid's meal option if you have kids:) Ceasar Salad was very nice and the Lobster Bisque was very good with lots of Lobster chunks. The buttery bread provided went REALLY well with the Bisque. We had Caymus Cab at another restaurant and they actually had it here so it was selected as the single choice for the table with multiple bottles since the whole table REALLY LOVES this wine and HIGHLY recommend it! So here's where they lose a star. They were out of multiple steak choices, which was unfortunate but probably because of the brutal weather where power was lost for multiple days with ice and snow conditions. So hopefully that was the issue. Still had the Filet and Sea Bass so we had both. Filet was actually good but again, not enough flavor. Nice piece of meat, just flavorless and really needed more salt and pepper. Same for the Sea Bass. Great piece of fish with beautiful presentation but tasteless. For sides, had Lobster Mac & Cheese, Asparagus, and Potatoes Au Gratin. All were ok. And for dessert, unfortunately they were out of ice cream that is supposed to go with the Bread Pudding so that was very disappointing since I was REALLY looking forward to end the meal with that dessert. So opted for the Chocolate Mousse and Cappuccino where both were pretty good. We will def return but hope we get more flavored food for the price to have us...
Read moreThis location unfortunately fell below expectations and the best I can give it is a 3-star. The food was mostly good and ambiance nice as well. However the secondary servers were very poor and either not trained properly or just didn't care; probably equal parts of both.
To begin, our dinner party of two were warmly greeted at the door and shown our table. We were then greeted by James who was very professional and polite throughout our meal. James was not the reason for my poor rating of the service but rather the other servers who actually brought out the food, and took away the plates. Back to the experience, James took our drink orders and bread was brought out. We then made our meal orders, an appetizer, salad, two entrees and two sides. The appetizer was brought out shortly thereafter, which was the hamachi and very delicious. Every is good this far, but here is where the meal took a left turn.
Not long after the appetizers were brought out, a server brought out a side of mushrooms. Yes, we did order mushrooms but certainly didn't expect it to be brought out with the appetizers instead of the mains. I had to request the mushrooms be sent back, and this honestly was a mistake I would never have expected from a high end restaurant.
Later, as salad was served and we were asked if we wanted pepper, the server managed to apply pepper all around the salad except on top. He then left in a hurry, and the feeling we got was that he was simply doing his job and didn't really care about the experience he was providing nor the results of his service.
As we were served our mains, there was no cautioning of a hot plate, nor were we asked if everything came out to our satisfaction. Again, the feeling was that the servers were just there to drop off packages and be on their way to the next delivery.
Finally, with respect to service, as our plates were being collected after the main course, the server was a bit haphazard here as well and managed to drop silverware on the floor during the process.
With respect to the food, the bread, appetizer of hamachi, wedge salad, steak, and crab cakes were all very good and was what we had expected from Del Frisco. However, the mushrooms were served prematurely as mentioned above, and furthermore, the broccolini was fibrous and tough and not up to par. Overall the food was good except for some miscues on the side dishes.
Conclusion: the food overall was good, but the poor service by the secondary servers left the experience unsatisfactory given the price point and I'm sorry to say I won't be back. This is a shame because I've had a number of very good meals at the downtown location and was a big influence on making a reservation at this...
Read moreGood didn’t taste bad at all! The scene was Del Friscos as usual. Start of the dinner started off great. Just went downhill from there. Our server, Ryan, very nice but very forgetful, inattentive, and just not professional. Our drink stayed not filled the entire dinner, our apps came out and 2 HOURS later our meal came. We sat at 7:35pm on the patio which was perfectly fine for us 4. But didn’t get out main meal served until 9:16pm which we didn’t pause on ordering other than waiting for him to come back. He proceeded to tell us he has 3 sections, which okay…ask for help if you can’t get to it. Our drinks when we got them sat at the bar for plenty time due to the melted ice in my old fashion, and margarita-not bartenders fault.the crab cakes were clearly forgotten due to the other apps came out 20 min before that did, and high crab cakes take a long time to make here-been a server and bartender and my other person who was eating was a server here. The steaks flavor was good but could tell it was in the window for a while do to the dryness on the outside and definitely was a little over cooked bc it sat in the window-I had to walk inside to ask when the food would be coming due to no communication and wait. He then came out and said, “well it looks like you are enjoying each other company.”-clearly we donor wouldn’t share a $300 meal together.
To be CLEAR, I have NEVER gotten up at a restaurant or complained or sent any food back in my life. I still tipped him 20% (normally is more) but just was very disappointed with the dinner considering the reputation of its name. We do steak restaurants, OFTEN, Dakotas, D lincoln, Bobs, Nick and Sams, Papas, Chamberlains….and I have also been HERE. This was my worst experience and was solely Service, professionalism of the server considering the comments made by him and cut our night short honestly due to the vibe it made at the table. We just went home shortly after.
Edit: Found out TODAY that the other party I was with went in to grab a pen to write on check bc ryan didn’t give us one, and the blonde bartender(guy) noticed it was Ryan’s table inside again, and hollered at him saying “hey, Ryan, you are needed at your table and replied with what I’m busy. He said your two tables are needing you and he is standing right here….” Bartender stated he was sorry he was more interested in talking to the 2 women in than doing his job.-I wouldn’t have tipped him a fine had I known this.- You non table could have covered it since you gave them more service than your guests paying for your tips.-never will return here after...
