4/13/2019 at Sayaka Hibachi- We were celebrating my son’s birthday and made reservations through the Open Table. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:15 - the exact time of our reservation. I tried calling the restaurant ahead of time to confirm our reservation, but their phone was not set up and we could not get through. Upon our arrival we were told that they did not have us on the list. However they promised to get us hibachi table for 9 ASAP. The wait was not long and we were escorted to our table in under 10 minutes. The very first thing we noticed was food on the floor between the hibachi table and our chairs. It was pretty discussing and not just a little... like a place that was just ransacked by a bunch of toddlers. When placing a drink order we learned that the restaurant was out of top shelf tequila and sake. We ordered Grey Goose vodka. When drinks arrived there was only ice that began to melt. When we told the lady (she was doubling for a hostess - there was no hostess btw), she dismissed us and said “ Of course there is vodka in your glass!” She later admitted there was none and there was “something wrong with their vodka”. They were also out of tempura ice cream. The only item that was not disappointing was the actual cook, who was friendly and entertaining. The food however was quite disappointing. The appetizers came at the different times, one arrived towards the end of our dinner. The ginger dressing lacked traditional flavor and their soup tasted watered down and absolutely flavorless. The stir fried vegetables lacked onions and had just a few thinly sliced mushrooms. There were no silverware- it was brought upon request. No chopsticks were there either and our cook ran to get them for us as no one was there to help him. The restaurant was one of our favorites under the original ownership, but needless to say, we will never go back. What a shame. PLEASE NOTE THAT MY PREVIOUS FABULOUS REVIEWS FOR THIS LOCATION ARE FOR THE OLD OWNERSHIP/ Geisha restaurant. WE MISS THE OLD ONE SO MUCH - things went downhill when they sold it ** I forgot to mention one more thing. We tried to order another vodka since they were out of Grey Goose, but when we asked for our vodka to be just chilled and not served over ice, the waitress said it would take a while. She did not know what chilled vodka was, she probably thought she had to place vodka in a freezer. We told her to forget it. My husband also said that there were no paper towels in...
Read moreThis was by far one of the worst experiences I ever had in a restaurant before we sat at our Hibachi Table for 45 minutes before we ever got a drink or were greeted by our server once the drinks came out she didn't bring us straws we had to wait in additional 10 minutes for straws on top of having to wait 10 more minutes after we put our drink orders to get our drinks because she put our drinks on the bar and ran off somewhere else into the restaurant and then on top of all of that it took an hour for us to get any type of food service when they brought out the Sesame salads we didn't even have Forks our server at somebody to get us forks and he said they had Forks but he was pointing to the other table next to us there was no one sitting there at the time but they all had Forks which made no sense to me the appetizers came out pretty fast which was a plus but it still took our Hibachi chef almost 25 minutes to come to us when we walk in the door the hostess wasn't there everybody was just standing there waiting the hostess did not know what she was doing she was just pulling people at random it didn't matter if you had a reservation or not we had a 7:45 reservation we didn't walk out the door until 9:55 The Hibachi chef somehow forgot my son's chicken before we ever got serviced all the servers acted like they were avoiding our table it was the total of six black people & 2 white people I'm not calling anybody racist I'm just painting the picture as for what it was no one greeted or communicated with our table whatsoever until we started asking questions and even when we ask question they still look confused honestly the whole staff was terrible there is not one person I would recommend on that staff and we were the only table that set in the Hibachi room for an hour without anything to drink or any one greeting us the Hibachi table next to us had to start asking her server when we were going to get our drinks when we were going to start getting services and that's ridiculous but other people noticed what's going on and have to speak up I can tell our server was someone trying but she really wasn't trying trying to get a refill on our drinks with ridiculous it was like trying to pull teeth from a baby I just don't get it the whole staff needs to be fired and they need to start over I'm so disappointed in how this...
Read moreThis place use to be Geisha Sushi and Hibachi. It’s under new management now and is that much different. I had lunch here today to try it out.
Atmosphere: Everything looks exactly the same nothing new. The interior is under lit. All the windows are covered so it’s dark in there. Not very many customers when we were there. This was the same as when it was Geisha. The waitress and staff were nice.
Food: The good Bento boxes are about $16. Soup is included. I got the combo steak and salmon teriyaki. The steak was good. Came out cubed and well done. Good size portion. The salmon however was the thinnest piece of salmon I’ve ever had. It was probably 3 ounces. Bento boxes don’t include salad or tempura veggies/shrimp as most sushi places do. As a matter of fact my friend got the tempura bento box. It came with two pieces of tempura shrimp that normally comes standard with bento boxes. Everything in his box was fried. Fried wonton, fried shrimp, fried vegetables. We also ordered a roll each and were pleasantly informed that it was 2 rolls for $10 so we got 4 rolls. The spicy salmon and spicy tuna were good. We also got a Spider roll and Cajun roll. They were good as well.
Service: Our bento boxes came out quick but our rolls took around 20-25 minutes after we got our bento boxes. By the time they had come out we had already about finished our bento boxes and our food was settling in. We waited so long that our food caught up to us and we really didn’t want anymore. We took The rolls to go. My biggest criticism is that the rolls took way too long. We weren’t able to enjoy them like we wanted.
Overall: Nice, quiet place to eat at for a quick (except rolls) sushi and Japanese meal. With all the sushi restaurants around I would probably not choose this place first for sushi but for anyone in the vicinity it may be good...
