I eat here one to three times a month and if I catch it at the right time (as they open at 11am), then there's no issue with waiting extra long. The cooks dish them out as quick as possible depending on how busy they are, so you have to be patient for your "fresh" food. I have waited any where from 10 to 45 minutes, so don't expect it to be a fast service at all times. I have had the L&L food in Hawaii and this is about 90% to the L&L "authenticity." I normally get the BBQ mix or Aloha chicken plates. When I first started going here (years ago), I found the food to be very good and authentic. As of late it seems they don't marinate the meat long enough to get that L&L taste. Aside from the taste, I think the portions are great. I have a hearty appetite and am always full after eating here. I rated what I did because of the environment....1) the place is not very large and if they get busy, you are practically elbow to elbow with other patrons....or people's frontal/rear moving past you and your food because they're trying to walk through. Not exactly the greatest layout, but I guess that's all that can be done w/their space. 2) not the cleaaaaanest place, but not the dirtiest. I have eaten here when I am the only person in the place and I noticed the cushioned booth area had so many crumbs in the crevice area that I had to look elsewhere before I lost all of my appetite. Maybe tidy up when the place isn't full rather than chatting and being on the computer? And 3) The two Asian women normally there (I assume to be the owners) are not the friendliest, but I guess you can kind of look past that. However, they have the LOUDEST conversations and it can be grating. I have had lunch there while one of the lady's 2 little girls were brought in, had a table to themselves, and continued to argue about the iPad, so the mom had to get on them...it was like being a guest in their home rather than a customer in their restaurant. Overall, I have found the food I have gotten to be good, but in my opinion, the customer service and environment...
Read moreWe were so excited to see Hawaiian BBQ here. We moved out 1year ago from Ca. There are some Hawaiian BBQ in Ca and and we loved them so. Idk what to say about this place. Well.. first when we came, it was almost crowded, but still have some place to sit. My husband ordered bbq chicken and katsu. He ordered brown rice for me. They brought food to your table, in Ca you have to pick the food up. We noticed that we didn't get brown rice. My husband was a bit disappointed and I was like trying to understand and not making a big deal. Not long after that, the lady who worked at the register came to us, asked us about our missing order. She apologized to us.. that was a nice gesture. I mean.. I'm Asian. I know sometimes.. (not all asian) will do that. Idk I guess.. not in Texas. Their worker are super nice and friendly. I saw the lady talked to the other customer's son made sure the boy sit properly. There 2 things that I don't like .. Their TERIYAKI SAUCE. For me it's just like water with sugar and soy sauce. I'm sorry I have to say that. In Ca, they gave you thick sweet teriyaki sauce. They give you styrofoam boxes and plates which are so flimsy and when you tried to cut your chicken, there will be cutting marks on.. that made me think.. did I break this plate? Did I eat some parts of styrofoam? Plastic or paper plates/to go box would be nice.
Overall.. the food are so amazing just like I ate in Ca. Their customer service was great! I am satisfied and would be back. But may be for to go?
Oh and 1 more thing that lil bit disappointing was our bbq chicken was a bit burned for my point of view. May be for some others don't mind. But we ate there with our children. We didn't wanna give them burned chicken. But there are some not burned. Their portion are huge! We paid $20 for 2 adults and 2 kids. So so cheap and we still...
Read moreI have been a patron here for five years, and those five years have been a slow downhill pattern for L&L Hawaiian BBQ. Large Pork Tosilog, every time. Initially it was AMAZING, but then again- nothing lasts forever... First the servings were getting progressively smaller, from two eggs in a large entree to one egg in a large entree for example. Less and less protein, plus now if you order a medium and a large and then compare? They’re the same size, the “large” simply costs significantly more. We’ve been duped! Then the garlic rice started lacking.. garlic. And then the final nail- I went back two days ago; after months of abstaining from L&L due to aforementioned quality issues, I was craving a meal I once knew and loved. Certainly they had it sorted out by now, right? WRONG. What I received was horrific. The pork in their Pork Tosilog was overcooked- tough, lots of burnt ends, and even worse a near complete lack of flavor!!! Both the pork and the rice were so soaked with their cooking oil that all you could taste was some kind of sickening sweet flavor on the pork, or the sharp burned pork taste. I have never had a restaurant serve rice so soft that it was a step or two away from being porridge, this was a first for my L&L experiences. But on the upside they started putting garlic in their “garlic rice” again, I just wish I could’ve tasted it more through all of that oil!!! Disgusted and disappointed, insulted even. I tip at least 15% every time, thinking this time it will be worth it, but no, what a waste. If I ever give it another chance, I won’t be tipping going forward. I even have their bumper stickers, I used to love this place so much!
