Well, this place just made my "Don't Go Here!" list. Service was extremely slow and incompetent, and food was hard, tasted funny, and generally unappealing and unappetizing. Service: the ordering process wasn't terrible but there was a loud radio blaring while I'm trying to give my order. However, things quickly (or very slowly) went downhill from there. It took almost 30 minutes for us to receive our order in what is supposed to be fast food. And that was only after I had to get up and tell the guy that our food has literally been sitting on the counter behind him for the last 10 minutes. Instead of apologizing, he kept giving excuses that he was busy with multiple customers. Yeah, except that he managed to box and serve several other customers' orders that ordered after us. Instead of making up obviously false excuses, just own up to your mistake. Food: after the absurdly long wait, we were greeted with hard chicken katsu and even harder loco Moco. And as a bonus, the loco Moco had some sort of weird gravy on top that I have never seen on this dish. The eggs were uninspired and the machine salad off. Rather than risk our stomach health, we opted to toss 90% of the food and just go to Vivi Bubble Tea. Summary: An absolutely abysmal experience and I hope others avoid this place to avoid the experience we had. The only silver lining was we didn't tip on this atrocious meal.

Of all these "Hawaiian food" places popping up lately, ch checking their menu there is no Hawaiian food. They might have food served in Hawaii but none of them have what I think of when thinking of Hawaiian food. I'm talking about laulau, kalua pig, lomi salmon, squid luau, pipikaula and poi. L&L has at least 2 of theses, the laulau and kalua pig. I haven't been to an L&L since around 2002, and even then it's not where I would go for traditional Hawaiian food, but with this being the only place around here serving laulau I gave it a try. The laulau comes as a combo with the kalua. The kalua was on point and I enjoyed it. The laulau I'm sorry but I did not care for it. It was bland and the meat was dry. Maybe if you bring your own Hawaiian salt it could help. So even though the kalua was good I was looking more forward to the laulau but it just wasn't for me. The portions here are huge though and prices are reasonable. They at least rank higher than all these other pop up "Hawaiian food" places because they have a few authentic Hawaiian food dishes.

Chicken Tocino is one of my favorite meals, and at L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, it seems to be one of the few places that have it, but they do it proper so I'll be back! Its a red colored sweet/ savory dish for $9. It comes with Garlic rice which is a much more delicious and smells good choice then regular rice. The garlic vinegar sauce they provide is AMAZING, go litely on it to see if its your thing, but it goes great with the rice and chicken. They did not have chicken today, but their pork does the job for the same price. Their BBQ mix is decent, its similar to other places, if you have not had hawaiian food, this comes with a little bit of everything. Short rib, chicken thigh, beef. that can all be cut with the plastic fork. This thing is massive so either come mad hungry or have seconds for the following day. Their mac salad is good. It takes ~10 mins or so to make, and the lady in the front is sweet!

I eat here one to three times a month and if I catch it at the right time (as they open at 11am), then there's no issue with waiting extra long. The cooks dish them out as quick as possible depending on how busy they are, so you have to be patient for your "fresh" food. I have waited any where from 10 to 45 minutes, so don't expect it to be a fast service at all times. I have had the L&L food in Hawaii and this is about 90% to the L&L "authenticity." I normally get the BBQ mix or Aloha chicken plates. When I first started going here (years ago), I found the food to be very good and authentic. As of late it seems they don't marinate the meat long enough to get that L&L taste. Aside from the taste, I think the portions are great. I have a hearty appetite and am always full after eating here. I rated what I did because of the environment....1) the place is not very large and if they get busy, you are practically elbow to elbow with other patrons....or people's frontal/rear moving past you and your food because they're trying to walk through. Not exactly the greatest layout, but I guess that's all that can be done w/their space. 2) not the cleaaaaanest place, but not the dirtiest. I have eaten here when I am the only person in the place and I noticed the cushioned booth area had so many crumbs in the crevice area that I had to look elsewhere before I lost all of my appetite. Maybe tidy up when the place isn't full rather than chatting and being on the computer? And 3) The two Asian women normally there (I assume to be the owners) are not the friendliest, but I guess you can kind of look past that. However, they have the LOUDEST conversations and it can be grating. I have had lunch there while one of the lady's 2 little girls were brought in, had a table to themselves, and continued to argue about the iPad, so the mom had to get on them...it was like being a guest in their home rather than a customer in their restaurant. Overall, I have found the food I have gotten to be good, but in my opinion, the customer service and environment...

We were so excited to see Hawaiian BBQ here. We moved out 1year ago from Ca. There are some Hawaiian BBQ in Ca and and we loved them so. Idk what to say about this place. Well.. first when we came, it was almost crowded, but still have some place to sit. My husband ordered bbq chicken and katsu. He ordered brown rice for me. They brought food to your table, in Ca you have to pick the food up. We noticed that we didn't get brown rice. My husband was a bit disappointed and I was like trying to understand and not making a big deal. Not long after that, the lady who worked at the register came to us, asked us about our missing order. She apologized to us.. that was a nice gesture. I mean.. I'm Asian. I know sometimes.. (not all asian) will do that. Idk I guess.. not in Texas. Their worker are super nice and friendly. I saw the lady talked to the other customer's son made sure the boy sit properly. There 2 things that I don't like .. Their TERIYAKI SAUCE. For me it's just like water with sugar and soy sauce. I'm sorry I have to say that. In Ca, they gave you thick sweet teriyaki sauce. They give you styrofoam boxes and plates which are so flimsy and when you tried to cut your chicken, there will be cutting marks on.. that made me think.. did I break this plate? Did I eat some parts of styrofoam? Plastic or paper plates/to go box would be nice.

Overall.. the food are so amazing just like I ate in Ca. Their customer service was great! I am satisfied and would be back. But may be for to go?

Oh and 1 more thing that lil bit disappointing was our bbq chicken was a bit burned for my point of view. May be for some others don't mind. But we ate there with our children. We didn't wanna give them burned chicken. But there are some not burned. Their portion are huge! We paid $20 for 2 adults and 2 kids. So so cheap and we still...

I have been a patron here for five years, and those five years have been a slow downhill pattern for L&L Hawaiian BBQ. Large Pork Tosilog, every time. Initially it was AMAZING, but then again- nothing lasts forever... First the servings were getting progressively smaller, from two eggs in a large entree to one egg in a large entree for example. Less and less protein, plus now if you order a medium and a large and then compare? They’re the same size, the “large” simply costs significantly more. We’ve been duped! Then the garlic rice started lacking.. garlic. And then the final nail- I went back two days ago; after months of abstaining from L&L due to aforementioned quality issues, I was craving a meal I once knew and loved. Certainly they had it sorted out by now, right? WRONG. What I received was horrific. The pork in their Pork Tosilog was overcooked- tough, lots of burnt ends, and even worse a near complete lack of flavor!!! Both the pork and the rice were so soaked with their cooking oil that all you could taste was some kind of sickening sweet flavor on the pork, or the sharp burned pork taste. I have never had a restaurant serve rice so soft that it was a step or two away from being porridge, this was a first for my L&L experiences. But on the upside they started putting garlic in their “garlic rice” again, I just wish I could’ve tasted it more through all of that oil!!! Disgusted and disappointed, insulted even. I tip at least 15% every time, thinking this time it will be worth it, but no, what a waste. If I ever give it another chance, I won’t be tipping going forward. I even have their bumper stickers, I used to love this place so much!

This experience was on February 7th, 2021

Save your money folks, this place has hit...
