First I want to say that the food was excellent and the portion sizes were very big, and prices very reasonable. I have tried many Indian restaurants in Texas and can only think of one other besides this one that are any good.
That being said, the service here is downright terrible, almost comically bad. It's like one of those places where the waitstaff is rude to you on purpose. The service was so outstandingly bad that I thought someone was playing an April fool's joke on me.
The waitress (and only employee) asked if we were ready to order, but had nothing to write with. We said yes, and she stood there as if ready to take our order but didn't write anything down. As soon as we finished ordering, she immediately forgot our entire order. Then the waitress took the menu and started looking at it as if that would jog her memory. We ordered a second time.
Before I could order a drink, she ran off and came back a few minutes later with two small bottles of water. I asked if they had iced tea and she acted as if that was a crazy request and said no they don't have iced tea, only water. We asked if we could have some ice and she came back with a single cup of ice. I asked if we could have another cup of ice since there were two of us. She came back with a second cup of ice but didn't give any straws. We asked if we could have straws and she gave us dirty looks and threw 5 straws at our table (there were 2 of us).
The food arrived quickly but was served as if it was a takeout order. It came in styrofoam and plastic containers. We were given two paper plates, 4 plastic forks, 4 plastic spoons, and no knife. I asked if we could have a knife and the waitress says "knife? a knife???" as if it was a ridiculous request, before searching around trying to find a knife.
Food was served spicier than I asked for but was excellent and authentic tasting. After quickly running out of ice, I asked the waitress if we could have more ice. She looked at me as if I was crazy and came back with, I kid you not, a gigantic salad bowl full of iced, and placed the bowl on the seat (not on the table), and with no way to get the ice out of the bowl and into our cups.
Once finished, I asked if we could have a to-go box for the leftovers. Some time later, she came back with a long piece of aluminum foil. I asked again if we could have a box but she refused and said we have to use...
Read morePlease never order for a party at Basera. They will ruin your party and your guests will have to remain hungry or adjust with some tasteless rubbish that they decide to give you. Pathetic experience with a party order at Basera. We called in the morning and ordered 2 party trays- 1 veg Manchurian and other veg spring roll. We were told that it will be ready around 5:30 pm. At 5:30 we called to confirm if the order is ready and were told that it will be ready in another half hour. At 7 pm my friends went to pick the order and they were told that spring rolls were 'not available'. How on earth is that a valid excuse when we had placed the order and they had accepted it 6-7 hours earlier. If they were not going to be able to make the spring rolls then how the hell did they accept the order. They also lied to my friends that they called to tell us about this but we didn't answer the call. We never got any call. There was no missed call, voice message nothing on our phones. And if that was the case it is their responsibility to call atleast a few to more times to ensure we get the message. Finally since there was no other option we took onion pakoras which is terrible in taste. If I wanted pakoras I would have made them at home. I didn't need to pay Basera for the pathetic, tasteless pakoras. All in all worst experience. So guys if you want to order your party food at Basera be prepared for them to screw...
Read moreBuffet prices as of October 2024 Weekdays is 11.99 11:00-2:30 Weekends is 15.99 11:30-3:00 I’ll prefixes this with saying I regularly eat spice challenges, I’ve lived with an Indian family for a couple years, and I’m much more adjusted to heavy spices so I wanted to state that do you know that I probably wouldn’t reflect the average spice levels lol. They have a fantastic buffet and especially for the price in a world of rising costs. It’s the spiciest buffet I can find in Dallas and they said that they are generally spicier but understand it’s less spicy because we are in Dallas. However, if you want the most spice in a buffet, this is the most I’ve seen so far. I managed to eat everything here (and I am heavy breathing full) and it’s all very solid. The chicken curry has bones in it so heads up, but you know the flavor is that much better. Customer service is friendly, and they take away the plates quickly. They have vegetarian options as well. Though the buffet is somewhat limited, I think I could live off the vegetable biryani alone and you can order additional vegetarian options. Atmosphere is great. There’s hindi music playing but it’s not too loud so you can have a conversation. Seating is...
