I’ve been in Texas for almost 4 years and the service we received tonight was probably the worst I’ve had since we moved here. Lots of restaurants are understaffed, often service is slow but the way Duncan treated me was just awful. My husband I ordered two bowls of soup and a sandwich AND Diet Coke. When I went to fill my Diet Coke there was no syrup. I asked another worker if they could check in it since the guy who took my order (Duncan) was helping other guests. I believe I got an affirmative reply so just waited. Tried the soda again, still nothing. Waited some more. My Diet Coke is a big deal to me so I kept poking at the machine, hoping it would be fixed. Finally a young lady said the syrup was fine but the machine wasn’t working. I asked if there was any other place to get Diet Coke in the store. She said no. I saw Duncan and asked him if the Diet Coke was going to work anytime soon. He said he’d check it out WHEN HE HAD TIME. I had been there for probably 10-15 minutes at that point, there was no one in line. We still didn’t have our food so I told him I just wanted our money refunded. I said it would have been nice to have been told immediately that there was a problem. Then my husband asked for the corporate number because Mr. Duncan was throwing some snark and he said he had no idea about anything to do with corporate. I told him he needed to learn a bit more about customer service and he started saying I should do stand up comedy-which made no sense because there was nothing amusing happening. Then he offered me a job app-maybe Duncan should do comedy because he has absolutely zero idea how to work with the public. It actually sounds funny but the way he treated me was so unexpected and mean. My husband did curse, he was now mad at the way this young man was talking to me. Duncan gave me a receipt for the return and the transaction was voided. What I find troubling is that this young man had no respect for a customer. I was not rude at all initially. Instead of actually CARING about my concerns, he blew me off. I know it’s tough hiring good help, I know not everyone should work in customer facing roles (Talking to you Duncan), and maybe this young man was having a really bad day, I don’t know but what I do know is I will never step foot in this Newk’s again, I won’t stop by with friends or bring my elderly parents by either. If this boy thinks it was okay to treat ANY HUMAN with the disregard he showed me, then that probably isn’t a place I want to be. It’s too bad because this place has ok reviews. I wish them well. But having your employees be willing to double down on rudeness with a guest show there is a much bigger problem with this business than...
Read moreI’ve officially died and gone to heaven!!!!! This place is EVERYTHINGGGGGGG y’all! Today is my first time ever eating here. I accidentally called myself ordering at the “pick up food” counter instead of the true order counter. I told Steven, the manager, that it was my first time visiting. I have some food restrictions and he had the patience of Job while explaining the menu items to me and showing me the layout of how things work, where the menus are, etc. He was extreme polite and knowledgeable and I never felt pressurized or rush to place my order. Instead, I took my time and took it all in. Based off of his recommendation I ordered the spicy shrimp pizza and it is incredible! Spicy, fresh( Steven told me here at Newk’s they cook everything fresh, from scratch-I can definitely tell) crunchy light crust that reminds me of a deep-dish crust but THIN!, fresh vegetables, it’s seasoned well. oh my goodness it’s to die for! And the strawberry cake is unfathomable it’s so delicious. Chris took my order and he was all-smiles, pleasant and extremely hospitable-everyone was. I was greeted by several employees and I can tell that Newk’s really values its employees and stands by their products. I will more than likely return tomorrow for more delicious goodness. It was such a pleasure dining here. If you haven’t tried Newk’s yet, you won’t be disappointed...if you have-you already understand the hype! This will be my new favorite place...
Read moreI have had the sandwiches and soups. This isn't my favorite place for sandwiches. North Dallas has so many good sandwich places. The bread and veggies where good on the sandwiches. The Po'boy is not a traditional one. Which is odd, because I am used to a traditional Louisiana type of po'boy. (I am not from there) That's where the sandwich originated from. I also had a chicken sandwich. The chicken is dried cooked with no seasoning, so it only taste good in the sandwich. I tasted the chicken alone. It was very nasty. The soups are good. I have not tried their pizza yet or desserts. I would go back to try, but if they prep there sandwiches with the same meat. I question how it is. Alot of good pizza places as well in the area. The competition over here is good! Update: I got the cobb with chicken. It's so nasty. It's just boiled chicken with no seasoning. The rest of the salad is good. I just don't see myself coming back. Not even...
