This was our first visit to Princi Italia. The weather was nice so we sat on the lovely patio. We ordered the charcuterie board for an appetizer. The charcuterie board was excellent; prosciutto, sopressata, capitola, aged provolone and taleggio cheese, roasted peppers, Sicilian olives, and peasant toast. The toast was so good we decided to continue with bread and ordered pizzas for our entrees. I ordered the fig and Gorgonzola pizza with arugula, prosciutto, shaved Parmesan and fontina cheese, balsamic reductions, and extra virgin olive oil drilled on top. Exquisite! I highly recommend this flavorful pizza. My husband ordered the Italian Sausage pizza with roasted peppers, cremini mushrooms, goat cheese, San Mariano pizza sauce, oregano, and basil leaves. He loved it. We visited Princi Italia because the restaurant participated in the 2024 Taste of Plano in March benefitting the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation. We like to patronize local businesses that give back to the community. We highly recommend Princi Italia for a delightful meal. We also want to give a shout out to our waiter, Gerald, who was an absolute delight and really made our visit exceptional.

The good: we had had a reservation for 7:30P but the hostess took us in at 6:00P. The restaurant wasn’t jammed packed as usual for this area on a Saturday probably for a good reason. The bad: Our waiter started great, gave us a fun fact about the wine we ordered, but all of the sudden, he went downhill. Never asked my wife if she wanted another cocktail, and was not upfront about the quality of their Saturday special. Brought me another equally salty veal Milanese after I sent it back. The ugly: Veal Milanese was salty beyond repair and soggy, just like the arrugula salad. Veal picatta portion size looked more appropriate for the kids menu, pasta carbonara was very greasy, and quattro formaggi tortellini was covered in sweet cheese sauce, garnished with more sweet green peas. Advice for the manager: Charging customers an average of $30 a plate for this egregious meal is not ok. I supported you guys through COVID and been dining with you since you guys opened in Plano. Princi-Plano was my go-to for a decent meal, in a sea of disappointments. You need to control the quality of what’s being put out to the customers. If you wouldn’t eat it, don’t serve it to people hoping they won’t notice. At your current price point, we deserve way better.

It was 5 months ago and we were in town visiting family when we went here and all was great. I mean All Great. Awesome, in fact! Fast forward, June 2019, and I am not seeing it or feeling it as much. The food is pretty good, and most of the staff is excellent, but something is just...off. Different. Some wait staff are quite engaging and make the dining experience pleasant. The manager and hosts are doing their job to say hello, checking on tables, etc., but I sense an unspoken uneasiness that was not like the confident, snappy joy of months passed. Well, I bet it was just an off night. We all have those. For the most part Princi Italia is still a good place. Their salads alone are worth a visit. The beet and watermelon salad is a joyful palate quencher for sure. I will let a little more time pass and return soon to see how things go. I bet the next visit will be plush and good again!

Some of the best authentic Italian food in Texas. The only things that didn’t go absolutely perfectly were a slight delay with one order and the noise level of the restaurant. Everything else was perfect. Presentation, attentive staff, knowledgeable and accommodating waiter, diverse and consistent flavors. Excellent through and through. The dish I can recommend most highly is the spaghetti bolognese, after that they are all spectacular and if you like lobster you should try it here. The pizza was a little under done for my preference (for a wood burning oven) but still cooked through nicely, just no crisp bite at the edge. The prices are high but worth it for the main dishes both in quality and quantity. The salads are over priced. With these notes in mind I highly recommend trying it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!
