So my husband & I stopped in to Red Truck Cafe for a late breakfast yesterday afternoon. It was bout 12:40pm when we arrived it was more crowded than usual. We waited about 5 mins for our table which was fine. Our waitress came by about 5 mins later got our drink order, came back with drinks took our food order but our food never came! Our waitress offered us biscuits while we waited she apologized and stated there were 3 tickets ahead of us but came back with cold biscuits…meanwhile I am watching the Party of 6 across from us, get seated, get their coffee served by the manager James and get their food served before us…there was another party of 2 across the way that came in after us and they were served before us. This was our 3rd visit here. On our second visit the food wasn’t as hot & fresh as we would’ve liked but we didn’t complain as our sever was very nice. So we decided to come back and give it another try but this will be our 3rd and last visit…How do u as the manager acknowledge and serve guests you apparently know and not even acknowledge the guests that have been waiting almost an hour for food?? As we were leaving I asked to speak to the manager. He explained that there was a ticket mix-up and the orders were behind which is understandable as they were extremely crowded and maybe understaffed but that still doesn’t mean you neglect your customers! All the manager could say was sorry for the mix-up, please come back. We had a movie we were going to see and couldn’t wait any longer. You asked us what movie we were going to see but didn’t offer any compensation or maybe a discount on the next meal but apparently you only cater to your “valued guests” which is unacceptable in my book! We waited a whole hour and left hungry and disappointed. I’m posting this because I want you all to see the value of every customer and I wasn’t even trying to throw the ‘race card’ in this…there were other tables that were waiting for their orders as well but I felt we were discriminated against. The service rendered just wasn’t acceptable. Fortunately the waitress was nice (I believe her name was Cindy). She tried her best to make light of a bad situation she even complained about her order tablet which was giving her technical issues and maybe that’s why the orders were all mixed-up. But I would have like to have seen the manager come over to our table and apologize for the wait and treat us like he treated the party of 6 but instead we got ignored and eventually left. James and Red Truck Cafe you lost 2 customers…please...
Read moreUnfortunately I would not recommend ordering hot food for takeout here. The food is good, and eating it at the restaurant should be fine, but I picked up some chicken, waffles and scrambled eggs from this restaurant this morning and when I got the food home, I realized it had been placed in styrofoam containers without any barrier between the hot food and the styrofoam, meaning that the food melted some of the styrofoam and then when you eat food like that, you are eating small amounts of styrofoam, and even small amounts can be harmful to some ppl! I was told about how bad this is for your health by my holistic doctor several yrs ago, and this is incredibly unhealthy especially for people like me with autoimmune illness and a genetic illness that causes a lot of pain and joint degeneration as well as other difficult to treat problems. Restaurants need to get away from styrofoam mainly for the health of their customers but also bc it's really bad for the environment. I have suggested to other restaurants that I like and who use styrofoam for takeout, that they have other options for their customers who's health can be adversely affected by the use of plastics and styrofoam...have available the recycled paper containers, and if they are more expensive than the styrofoam or plastic, offer them with an added fee to offset the cost. I would absolutely pay extra! The other option would be to line the bottom of the styrofoam container with a piece of paper and/or foil before placing hot food in the box. I will post some pics of the containers after I got home and was about to eat the food. Also, don't place condiments inside the boxes on top of the food! This is incredibly unsanitary! Those little condiments should be placed in a separate small bag and NEVER on top of hot food! If they don't change their ways, I unfortunately won't be getting pick up from them anymore. I know these things may not be a concern for most, but there are others who need to steer clear of pickup food from...
Read moreMy wife wanted to go for late evening for dinner....for their Beef Tips over Noodles special.
Nobody in the place at 7:15, but it looked nice enough and was clean. We were seated right away.
As you can see from the menu pic...the "special" description is Tenderloin Beef Tips in mushroom gravy over noodles.
Beef tenderloin is generally considered a very good cut of meat, prized for its exceptional tenderness and mild flavor. It's often referred to as the "king of steaks" due to its lack of exercise & minimal connective tissue.
From the pic of the meal, you can see there are NO beef TIPS. And while there are noodles....they are spaghetti like noodles.
The meal I received was basically shredded Roast Beef in mushroom gravy over spaghetti noodles that were chopped. Very bland and not very hot.
Mashed potatoes came out with a different brown gravy.
Corn was ok.
Why all the pepper ? Food is bland beyond belief. Roast beef was even bland....like it was cooked/steamed in water....with nothing else.
Mashed potatoes and brown gravy...bland and barely warm.
Corn very bland and barely warm.
SO when you go in with expectations of something like recipe below and the menu doesnt do /say anything that would change those expectations and what you get isnt close to those expectations.....you leave wondering....how could they potentially screw up chicken and dumplings or chicken fried steak......or just not risk expectations not being met and go somewhere else.
