Charlie DoNuts — Restaurant in Plano

This is by far my most favorite doughnut shop. Super friendly staff, they always make me feel welcome. IMHO it's better than Shipley's and Southern Maid (which I grew up on in west Texas). When we moved up here from the Odessa/Midland area, I was so excited to see there was a Southern Maid in Plano. Imagine my disappointment when they didn't have the same flavors or quality as their west Texas shops. We discovered Shipley's, and they were similar to the Odessa Southern Maid, but more expensive, but worth the $ for nostalgia. When that specific store closed on west Parker, Charlie's DoNuts took their spot. We weren't sure about the new shop, but we decided to give it a try... And we were hooked. Ok for an affordable staple/ basic and local donut place. Solid glaze and wide variety of fillings not available at many other places, but that's real redeeming quality.

The kolaches are very basic, cheap and small. Jalapeno or cheese on them leave a lot to be desired if that's a favorite or staple. For some reason they have UHC milk and shelf stable juices in their cooler that aren't the best quality and not sure where the coffee is...

Carolyn's Review................... As we walked towards, yet another, what seemed to be exciting food layout. There are always lavish food displays for all to see and aire. The owners are extremely friendly! Every single time I go here, they are smiling and greet me with the most warm and welcoming "hello". It's nice to go to an establishment where you are remembered. It just feels good. Their prices are competitive and very affordable. But most importantly, their donuts are "TO DIE FOR"! My favorite time to get them is right after they are cooked.
