1/15/25: (FOUR star review) We arrived for dinner and Randall was our host. He was very friendly and polite. He made us feel welcome since the moment he introduced himself. The pomegranate mojito was good and the draft beer was cold. The Mac N Cheese was pretty good, as well as the Queso with Brisket. The steaks were prepared as requested, and the were really good. The fried shrimp did not disappoint. We appreciated Randall treating us as valued customers!
12/22/23: (FOUR star review). We decided to try this location again, since it had been a while since our last subpar outing. Rico was our host, and he was pretty awesome! He checked on us frequently to make sure that everything was ok. Our order didn't take long to arrive, and the food was great. The pomegranate mojito was good, and the draft beer was cold! Fallon, the manager came to check on us. She was very friendly. The Queso with Brisket was pretty good, and our steaks were well cooked. The potato soup was good, as well as the sweet potatoe fries. This dinner was more in line to what we are used to at Saltgrass, and I'm glad that the service and food quality have improved!
6/18/2019: (ONE star review) Went on Father's Day, and was looking forward to enjoying a nice Saltgrass quality meal... didn't happen! We had a 6pm reservation, and were promptly seated. Our server, Greg, appeared to be enthusiastic, but that came to a screeching halt, when we indicated that our entrees were barely warm, despite a longer than average wait for our plates. He deferred to a manager and left. One manager, Phillip, came apologized, and offered to either reheat our plates, or prepare new entrees. I'm appalled that he even offered to reheat the plates, really!? This can't be a Saltgrass remedy, especially at these prices. He told us that he had been there since 5 am, and he was getting ready to leave at almost 7:30 pm. I'm not sure what that had to do with our messed up order. Another manager, Derek, I believe, brought our replacement entrees. While we were waiting for our replacement entrees, Derek did not come by to check on us, or to offer any additional drinks or bread The replacement entree was ok, but the filet mignon was stringy, and was not medium well, as requested. I spoke to Derek at the table, and he indicated that he had received several complaints about the filet mignon being stringy. I showed him the plate, and he agreed that the filet mignon was not cooked medium well. I also shared with Derek that Greg hadn't stopped by to check on us, and that his demeanor changed, once we presented our concerns about the first entrees. Derek said that another coworker noticed that "something" was off with Greg, and that he would speak with him. He said that Greg was one of their "best" servers, which I find to be a scary proposition, as I wouldn't expect Saltgrass' standards to be that low. At this point we are getting frustrated with the whole experience. I asked for the tab, Greg brought it by, but forgot to give us a pen. I got up, found Derek at the bar, and asked for a pen. I told him that I reviewed the receipt and noted that no concessions had been made for our inconvenience. Derek just gave me a blank stare, and I told him that I would pay the tab under protest. I've been at several Saltgrass properties in DFW, and this was the worst experience. Their customer service is severely lacking and the food quality is not a good reflection of the brand. I've been a LSC member for several years, and I thought I couldn't go wrong with our choice of restaurants on Father's Day, and boy...
Read moreToday I became an American citizen and my wife and I decided to celebrate by having a nice Steak meal, normally we go to Texas Roadhouse because the prices are good and the steak melts in your mouth, but we decided to try out Saltgrass Steakhouse in Plano as it has just opened up and change can be good... Not in this case. I ordered the 10oz Sirloin medium well and steak fries, when my meal turned up it had the steak and what looked like cubed potatoes, I asked our waitress to replace these with steak fries, but she told me this is what they call steak fries, everywhere else I have ordered steak fries I get big fat fries, but I guess Saltgrass wants to start confusing customers? Next I cut into my steak and blood started oozing out, I ask the waitress to confirm what I ordered and she said that's not medium well? Correct, so my plate was whisked away and 5 minutes later the same two pieces of steak reappeared but this time medium, I thought ok, I can eat medium steak but the fact that they cooked my steak that I had cut into two and touched was cooked on the same grill as someone else's steak, I'm sure glad I did not have any disease that could be spread like that. They did however replace my potato chunks. So overall I was not impressed, the manager did come over to apologise and I said I would have thought that a steak house should know how to cook steak, if not anything else. The check arrived and no discounts applied or any sort of acknowledgement that I had to sit and watch my wife eat her food for 5 minutes while mine was being reheated. Even my wife left her garlic mashed potatoes as they were dry and stuff and her steak although cooked ok was half the thickness of what she would have been eating at Texas Roadhouse. I don't normally promote another business but once you have had consistent good quality and pricing and then you try what pretends to be a more up market steak house with prices going up to the mid $30 mark for steaks, you realize how good the other place really is. My advise is avoid this place if you enjoy steak and take a trip along George bush to Garland and go to Texas Roadhouse, they know steaks, always perfection, gear quality and service. Plus Steak fries are really Steak fries 😀 I will not return to this place ever, not any of their other restaurants if this is the experience...
Read moreI wish I could give ZERO stars. This was the worse experience ever at Salt Grass. This was my first time to this location and will surely be my last!! I was there with a large party celebrating a friends birthday. The reservation was at 7 and at 6:50 the hostess stated the tables were set but there was not a waitress available. This was a surprise celebration so of course we wanted to be seated beforehand. We had 2 waitresses and one was better than the other but they acted like they’ve never handled a large party before. They really couldn’t keep up with anything. Guests at the table were not getting their requested drinks or getting the wrong food. My wife ordered some cheese fries and the waitress came and just sat it on the table not even asking who ordered it. Someone else at the table had ordered some as well so they started eating it. Upon telling the short male manager what happened he picked up the fries and put them in front of my wife and said I’ll make you another half order (I’m guessing since half of it was already ate)! That’s the nastiest thing ever!!! Especially during these times of COVID. I asked him when he came back out what was the half order for considering the facts and that we expected a full order. I ordered chopped steak and the waitress came 35 mins later asking how I wanted it cooked like really. I get my food and it’s burnt with burnt cheese on top of it. I was so disgusted I gave the plate right back to the waitress and told her I wasn’t eating that. A female manger came out shortly asking what was wrong and if she could get me anything else and I told her absolutely not. At this point I was not even hungry and so disgusted by the nasty food and poor service that I was just over it. The only thing good I had was the Grand Sangria. Never again will I...
