Our favorite taqueria in the area. Green salsa is to die for! Breakfast burritos, tacos, ranchero beans, quesadilla, all delicious. Their chips are made from flour tortillas so a little different but great. Service is always good. We’ve eaten here a few times a month since moving around the corner two years ago. I’ve eaten my way through taco stands on the west coast of Mexico and throughout Texas, and I keep coming back to this place to satisfy my cravings. Get extra green salsa!!!
Update: the food is still delicious, but the new girl working the counter, while sweet, speaks zero English. I can communicate enough to greet, order and pay in Spanish but she will ask questions quickly and in a way that no one would understand if they don’t speak Spanish. I watched an older couple who didn’t speak Spanish get frustrated and the wife didn’t get what she wanted. I thought they were going to walk out; based on her attitude they definitely won’t be back. And don’t even thinking about calling in a to go order.
My other issue is that on this trip I ordered a 4 taco plate but then it didn’t come with rice and beans. I checked my receipt and it just said 4 tacos for $11.68. My last receipt (I get them texted to me) said $11.92 for a 4 taco plate. The menu says $11.50.
I’m conflicted. It’s the best tacos within 5 miles of my house, but it’s frustrating to not get what you want and pay more in...
Read moreBeen excited for a more authentic taco place to open up nearby. When your options are Taco Bell and Taco Bueno, you crave a little more. Don't get me wrong, I love the other two places but authentic tacos are hard to find in this area!
We were greeted by the owner Juan. Super nice guy. My wife and I both ordered the 3 taco plates. I had 2x of the Pastor (my fav!) and one Barbacoa. My wife had the Pastor, Steak and Barbacoa. Everything was well seasoned and the green and red salsas were delicious. Each plate came with rice and beans which were also very tasty.
This was our first stop and definitely not our last. Hope to see you again Juan!
EDIT 02/15/22: Seems as though the quality of the food has gone down. Flavors aren't the same as they used to be and the original owner doesn't seem to be around anymore. I see they opened up another location and maybe he's had to dedicate his time there instead but it's just unfortunate that the quality has dissipated. Instead of using real potatoes for a chorizo/potato taco they subbed in french fries instead, crinkle cut ones. My wife loved their menudo on the weekends but it isn't as good anymore. I recently had a "super burrito" with pastor but the only thing super about it was the excessive amount of rice they put in it. Dropping this place from a 5...
Read moreI love to review steak tacos. This place has a high review. So my wife and I gave it a shot. She didn't like it as much as I did. But either way, there are better tacos in the area. These were still great.
Food: Steak Taco - The corn tortilla was a little soggy. The steak was juicy though. It was great flavor. The salsa they bring out is good
Pork Taco - This one was good but not great. Tortilla was soggy here too. Meat was juicy. But it wasn't as good as Acapulco pork Taco.
Rice - The rice was kind of sweat. I had to salt it a little. But I enjoyed it.
The Beans - The beans were not refried beans. This might have been the best part of the meal. Not my favorite kind of bean. But it added a little twist. Much needed for the overall experience.
Review:
I give Taquerias Cervantez a 6.9 out of 10. The food was good. But right down the road is a better place. If I were in the area I would head over to Acapulco restaurant and get the steak...
