I've been visiting Tokyo One multiple times throughout the years. I liked them before COVID-19 because the buffet prices were around $20 and the food was good. They also have a lot of options for entrees, sushi, and desserts. The restaurant is clean, but the buffet area could use more work. I recently visited again because I was craving some sushi, and didn't want to drive to Carrollton for my usual place. It was pretty packed on a Friday night, but luckily we came after the dinner rush so there wasn't a long wait. They brought back the buffet style instead of having to order through the server during COVID. The sushi was okay, but it looks like it's been sitting out for a while since nobody seems to touch it. I got a little of each piece to try. Quality was okay, it's what you can expect for AYCE sushi. We came 45 mins before closing but they were already cleaning up the area. My boyfriend was waiting for the chef to restock the inari sushi, but they never did and he was pretty sad. They also offer hot pot, but it's just a plain broth and there's a counter for veggies & seafood. They didn't have any sliced meats, so that was disappointing. There's a small menu on the table if you want to order something from the server. I didn't see it until the end but it has grilled oysters and eel nigiri, along with ramen and soups. Most of the entrees look like it's been sitting out for some time and don't look that appetizing. I guess that the best time to go would probably be during rush dinner hours if you want fresh food. I enjoy their dessert bar. They have a lot of different desserts ranging from cream brulee to fresh fruits. If you want ice cream, you'd have to ask the server to bring you some. They offer red bean, vanilla, and chocolate. It took us forever to pin down a server since they looked like they were understaffed. Even after we did, they forgot half the things that we ordered. They currently offer crab legs for AYCE for $45 during the weekend, and there's a separate area for the crab legs. The crab legs look big, but I'm not a fan of them so we just got the regular dinner version for $37. I think the price is pretty expensive for what you get, especially if you don't like sushi like my boyfriend. It was nice to check them out again, but I'd rather save the money for the AYCE sushi in Carrollton for the same price.

The place a great atmosphere right out of the gate. The give a good tease on what to expect walking in with a display of foods available at the location.

The seating is comfy and open to the interior and the kitchen so most things are in view with TVs at different angles.

I thought I was in just for a dine in experience with prices right up front for each order. However I recieved a menu with blank spaces to order each item. I was kindly explained by my waitress what this places does. It's the genuine high quality Japanese dine in experience, as a buffet! You order four things at a time turn over a red/green card on the green side and your waiter will take your order. If you order entrees those will be prepared at a modest pace, while your appetizers and sushi will be at your table in a few minutes (depends on the size of the crowd thet cater to). This was perfect as I do eat a lot of dishes and I know when I'm getting close to full. So after finishing my sides I would have my next order ready, eat my current entree- rinse and repeat.

Everything was not only cooked/presented amazingly, their specialties are paired well with sauces or ingredients that enhance the harmony or complexity of flavor. I never found myself wanting for ginger, wasabi or soy sauce. The soups were delicious, both the udon and miso were exactly what I was looking for. The deserts are limited to a few options on the menu however the two I had (green tea icecream, burlee) especially the vanilla brulee was rich and the torched sugar on top was thin enough to not overpower the pudding but add to it.

The staff was very friendly polite and were on top of everything. I would have been a little lost without them and never had to wait long for service. They do add to the experience, nothing to critique on my end. They really do try to enhance your experience so just let go and have them take you on a journey.

The price once you order one dish until you get your fill is around $20.00 lunch time. Though if you waste too much food on any plate they will charge you a fee. I think this was for the best since they are serving you quality and eating the value of 4 plates across 20 would hurt this business.

Overall this is a place I want to visit during dinner hours and you bet that I will be celebrating anything at this location with good company. As someone who has visited several Japanese restraunts this is at the top of my list for their variety, endless sushi, and it would be cheaper to eat at for the calories I burn and the food I need to replace them.

Please come support these guys- you wont regret what they bring...

*Update January 2025 *

Tokyo One continues to be a favorite for my family and me. From the fruit and salads, to the hot tempura and hibachi, they have it all, and it's all wonderful. The highlight for me is the sushi and sashimi, but you won't want to miss the hibachi steak. And if you come for dinner, they have crab legs!

The men's room was clean. The service is always fast and helpful. The food quality is great. They made our special occasion feel really special, too!

Children under two eat free!

This is a premium dining experience at an extremely fair price for the quality and overwhelming selection.

Still highly recommend in 2025!

Ah, Tokyo One. Have you seen Ratatouille, where the jaded food critic bites into the titular dish, and is instantly transported back to his childhood? That was pretty much my recent experience at Tokyo One - minus the rat secretly cooking in the back (I hope). This was a place my Mother and I used to go when they had a different location, decades ago, and it's still just as good. Even the crème Brule tastes the same! The sushi quality is second-to-none: you really will have fancy, fresh prepared rolls that would set you back $10-15 per roll elsewhere, constantly being made for you to sample and enjoy. They have a ton of sashimi, but the sushi and sashimi is just the beginning. Grill-your-own items, curry, hibachi, tempura, and more. They had some absolutely wonderful things to sample. Don't forget to ask for the things your server can bring to the table like soup - it is included with the buffet, and they even have green tea ice cream. Chef's Kiss Love it!

UPDATE: June 2023.

Still fantastic. We went to celebrate a birthday, and everyone in our party of seven loved it. Children two and under eat free...
