This is one of the newer and probably better Indian restaurants in this area. We tried them out twice in the last 1 week (once in-person dining, and today we got food via Doordash). When we dined in, we tried out multiple dishes, and were quite pleasantly impressed with all of them. The service, for a new restaurant, was better. However, when we tried some of the same dishes today, we were highly disappointed. First, the dasher had to wait for over 30 min as, apparently, the restaurant had never received my order to begin with. I found this out when I called them for a follow up. I was told that this happened due to a "technical error" on the Doordash platform, and that the food will be ready in another 2-3 min. When I followed up with the dasher 15 min later, I was told that he was still waiting. When the food arrived after a delay of 1 hour, and when we started having it, only then did we realize that the chicken in the butter chicken was stale and had a pungent smell. We had no other option but to throw it away. When I called up again to inform the same lady (who had picked up my call earlier), she first said that they have a new chef and hence this goof-up (how lame is that? So a new chef doesn't know how to cook and uses stale chicken specifically? Is that what you are trying to tell me?). When she realized there wasn't much of an argument, she noted down my number and told me that the owner/manager will call me "sometime" to see how they can address this issue. So as of now, I am waiting for that...
Read moreLOL! EVERYBODY HAS THE SAME OPINION “STALE FOOD”. HOPELESS STAFF TRAINING. I GUESS THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND BASIC WORK ETHICS AND THAT LISTENING TO CUSTOMERS ISSUE FIRST IS THE KEY TO SOLVING PROBLEMS.
NOT ONE PERSON THERE IS READY TO LISTEN TO YOUR CONCERN INSTEAD THEY JUST ARGUE WITHOUT ANY SENSE. HEARD FROM ONE OF THE STAFF ITSELF THAT THEY’RE GOING TO SHUT THIS STALE FOOD RESTAURANT IN A FEW DAYS.
Everyone who gave this restaurant a 4 and 5 star are sure to be their friends who might’ve been forced to do so. This restaurant’s repeated negligence and lack of care in service are unacceptable and troubling. I have ordered the same vegetarian lunch box four times, and each time a different item was missing—first the sweet, then the raita, next the naan, and now the soda can. This consistent oversight reflects a severe deficiency in staff training and management. Attempts to resolve these issues over the phone have been met with evasive and confused responses, suggesting poor communication and management. Furthermore, the quality of the food is unacceptable, with vegetables that are clearly rotten and naan that is far from fresh, as evidenced by the attached photo. Such disregard for basic standards not only fails to meet customer expectations but also poses health risks. This establishment's repeated failures warrant serious concern and question its viability as a restaurant. Doesn’t Even deserve a 1 star tbh. Never recommend...
Read moreI absolutely love their CHICKEN CHETTINAD—when it’s made perfectly. Out of the 18 times I’ve ordered it, only about 6 have been spot-on. The restaurant owner is nice and humble, which I really appreciate.
Once, while picking up my order, I mentioned that the tadka of curry leaves and red chilies was missing. She explained that they haven’t been getting curry leaves lately. That was a bit disappointing to hear, especially since curry leaves are pretty easy to find at any Indian store. They could even buy them in bulk, dry them in an air fryer, and store them—just like my mom once sent me curry leaves from India when I was studying here. I’m a good cook myself, and honestly, the Chicken Chettinad sometimes feels more like Chicken Masala Curry.
Another issue I’ve noticed is the inconsistency with the chicken itself. Twice, I found bones in the dish, even though it’s supposed to be boneless. When I asked about it, one server said it always has bones, while another assured me it’s always boneless. That kind of inconsistency is frustrating. For an Indian restaurant in the U.S., consistency is key—especially for Indian customers like me who love exploring authentic dishes. No offense, but as a regular customer, I expect better.
I really hope the Chettinad gets back to its best soon because, when it’s made right, it’s absolutely delicious. If it does, I’d be happy to...
