Confusion, Poor Quality and Wrong Order.
I really don’t know if this was an anomaly, or if this location is really just this bad, but as my first visit this will be my last.
Ordered to go for a 5:45 PM pickup on a Monday night. Arrived at 5:40 PM. Restaurant has about 4 other parties seated and eating. Staff could not locate my order in their POS system, but after a minute or two they finally found it. This wasn’t the problem. After about 15 minutes I check to see if my order is out on their pick up shelf, and there is an order with my name on the receipt, as well as a completely separate order / person’s receipt on the same order. I took the order before realizing, almost walked out, and brought it back to the hostess. I asked whose order it really was, and she told me she would fix it. She took it away and about 5-10 minutes later she came back with a bag, thrust it to me without a word. I asked if this was everything and she said yes. The item count was correct so I took it home. There were two others picking up their orders who were also confused with their orders. It was about 6:05 before I got out of there. Fine, it’s whatever mistakes happen. The confusion was only a small part of the problem.
One of the tacos should have been a wrangler and it was not correct. We got some Naughty Santa taco instead. Also, all of the tacos were extremely wet, soggy, and mushy. See picture. The elote was hardly cooked and tasted about the same as corn from a can with some seasoning.
I knew Torchy’s wasn’t what it used to be, but didn’t know it was this bad....
Read moreFirst time at this location. The young man who took our order was amazing. No complaints with his Customer Service skills. When my chicken fajita taco came, the chicken was ice cold. I’m not kidding, it felt like it just came out of the refrigerator. Even the bell peppers and onions were cold. The queso seemed like it should’ve been warmer too. I took my taco to the same young man at the front counter and he immediately said he would get his manager. There was another customer standing there with a bag complaining about his food as soon as I walked away.
About three or four minutes later some random guy walked up and said “It’s cold huh, I got you bro”, and took it and went away. He came back about five minutes later with a new taco and said “hopefully this one is better.”
There was no apology, and his approach was extremely unprofessional. Even my girlfriend and her daughter was like if he was a manager he definitely wasn’t acting like it.
I didn’t finish my taco because I was afraid it still wasn’t going to be thoroughly heated. We left soon after, and that same guy who apparently was the manager was sitting by the front door at a table with some guy talking. It just didn’t seem like it was the right thing to do for a manager.
The only positive I have for this visit was sodas and the guacamole, and we...
Read moreOk, NOTHING is like Torchy's - this place is unique and awesome...but not for everyone. The food is great, not bland and boring - and some of the "spicy" things are going to be WAY TOO hot, but you'll find something you love. My family loves the queso - Hillbilly queso is our favorite, but the normal chips and queso are still excellent.. My personal favorite is the Tipsy Chick taco which is chicken, spinach, cheese, corn on flour tortilla with a bacon marmalade sauce!!! The Crossroads taco is awesome - which is their brisket taco (and I always order with a fried egg on it) - my wife orders hers sans tortilla, which means just all the good stuff in a bowl). The Republican taco (jalapeno sausage) is also incredible. You can order their breakfast tacos all day - and they are great - my favorite is the Wrangler, minus the potatoes. My kids love the Trailer Park (fried chicken - see pic) and remember to "make it trashy" (means put queso on it). Plano location is always crowded, but worth every minute of the wait! Also, love that Torchy's adds variety - some new things almost every month as specials and a couple new tacos on the menu as well. NEW UPDATE: they just added BOWLS, and these are incredible - the Bonfire with the salmon is insane and the Big Tipsy with the fried chicken - both...
