My daughter and I started going to Burtons (Boca Raton) over a year ago and boy was it an experience. The prices are compatible and reasonable and the staff even better. We came for a certain items we both love and I was blogging it. This was during earlier hours of course. But this time Sunday 6:13pm, smh. Our server didn't greet us until 25mins later barely spoke & with no name I guess. We ordered drinks including from the bar that took another 10mins to get, nope not the bar drink yet. Water and soda was finished, now 20mins later we're still waiting on our server! About 6:55 I mentioned to the hostess of our waiting and service. The server finally made it back to us, that was a dead end so at 7:05 I called the general manager over and boy was I shocked at the lack thereof. He basically dismissed Me and my daughter and pretty much said she Is busy because she has four tables! I was speechless esp when he said "he's not getting another server for that reason" it was not too surprising to hear, after all when I asked my server did she forget about us her response was "uh, well I'm here now" That's when I called the manager and his treatment confirmed why her treatment was the way it was! From the time I placed my drink from the bar until the manager came to half correct the issue WE finally got the drink from the bar. The ice was melted and the manager didn't address that. About 10mins later we got another server. My daughter wanted to leave but I said this is not how we are normally treated I want to see how it plays out. The sliders weren't the same the steak was a little tough no sauce came with it like before. We ordered 1 steak slider, basket of fries 1 sprite 2 cups of water and 1 drink from the. The bill was $17.00 2 hours later! No drink received and my daughter was annoyed we didn't get our normal to go orders! It's not a race thing, but imagine my feelings when you look around the room and your the only two Black guest in house and feeling as if your being ignored, half served, still being loyal and waiting and don't forget your spending your own MONEY! The server definitely had her picks I noticed 2 ladies across from us had her attention 60% of the time im sure it was family or friends. Someone will understand esp if you've walked in our shoes. FYI I'm glad I didn't walk out when my daughter said let's go, BECAUSE on my way out I literally walked out my high heels both of the heels broke and I'm 6'2 and I almost came tumbling down, just like the server and the service...
Read moreUPDATE: I was invited back for a tour of their kitchen and then invited back for dinner. Christina, the manager set everything up. Stephen, the manager on duty that day made sure to follow all the allergy protocols and supervised to make sure everything came out properly. Dina was our amazing waitress. Thank you for going out of your way to make it right. The food was delicious.
CELIACS BEWARE!! This place should be ashamed. A restaurant where you should feel safe, a restaurant who prides themselves on ‘allergies’, a restaurant who sponsors Boston Children’s Hospital Celiac Program, and a restaurant who is promoted by the National Celiac Association was an epic fail. When I received my gluten free menu I asked if they had a dedicated fryer because I wanted to get the burger and fries. The waitress told me I could not have the fries because they are cross contaminated. So why are they on the gluten free menu I asked? She says not sure I will bring you the manager. Once the manager comes out she reassures me it’s dedicated and she explained their whole entire protocol for making sure my meal was safe including double and triple checking, changing gloves, keeping everything separate, having different utensils, and even square plates to make them identifiable specifically for gluten. Half way through my meal I saw the manager and general manager walking towards my table. My heart dropped. I knew it couldn’t be good news. They came to tell me that the gluten free mac and cheese was made with regular noodles. What happened to keeping gluten foods and gluten free foods separate? What happened to double and triple checking? These protocols that they brag about mean nothing unless you actually practice them. I hardly ever eat out and now this just reconfirms why. I want to know how regular noodles made it to the gluten free area? I don’t see that as a mistake as that should never have been on that side of the kitchen. If you don’t know, Celiac destroys your small intestine leading to osteoporosis, cancers, malnutrition, hospitalization, and other autoimmune diseases. I think you should re check your allergy protocol because it was not successful. It was...
Read moreI just want to start this review by saying this was truly one of the best meals I’ve had dining out in an exceptionally long time!
The other evening I had family in from New York. My nephew has several food, allergies that are deadly, and I knew that Burtons would cater to everything! Personally, I have a serious gluten intolerance that prevents me from eating so much when I dine out, but Burtons is different. They have a dedicated fryer that prevents cross-contamination in their kitchen. They offer a whole gluten-free menu which is almost identical to their normal menu so that is amazing! Our server was phenomenal. I feel bad because I asked her her name and I think it was Nina. She was a doll! So accommodating. Answered all of our questions and was on top of the drink refills for us! She made some wonderful recommendations and I would most definitely have her as my server again.
The food was outstanding! We had appetizers, main courses, and desserts. I could not stop raving about their seven layer chocolate cake, which I had had when I was there at a previous Yelp event. It left such a phenomenal lasting impression. As for food, we started with their maple Sriracha wings and the roasted beet tower. The wings were succulent, moist, and flavorful! Probably the nicest wings I’ve had in a few years. The beet tower was delicious. I am not a huge fan of the vegetable but all the components together were absolutely scrumptious!
My family ordered several different entrées but personally, I enjoyed their firecracker, shrimp and mac & cheese, which were both gluten-free! I was shocked! It was absolutely amazing. The shrimp was perfect! I haven’t had this dish in years because of my gluten intolerance and this was perfect. There’s no other term. The mac & cheese hit the spot! Creamy, tender, very flavorful! I haven’t enjoyed mac & cheese like that in a restaurant in close to a decade without it getting me sick. For dessert I had their gluten-free chocolate hazelnut crème brûlée and of course we had the seven layer chocolate cake! I can’t wait to come back to Burtons for their insanely...
