Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Plantation

The one star is because at least the employees were polite today. A few months ago I placed an order for a mocha madness through the app to pick up in 30 minutes because that's how long it was going to take me to drive to the store (long story). When I arrived, I was informed they were out of coffee and that if I wanted a refund I would have to call the 800 number and deal with "the app people". Who has time for that? They made me another smoothie instead, a smoothie I didn't like. This morning after an early morning visit to the local grocery store that brings me to that area, my husband and I decided to stop in for a mocha madness - the only smoothie we like from there. The two girls working didn't know how to ring up the large order of the people in front of us and told them that next time they had to place catering orders in advance. The customers responded that they were in town for the weekend with a sports team and were just getting smoothies for some of the team members that morning. The couple was nice enough to let my husband and I order first. We ordered and paid and then were told they were out of regular coffee and only had decaf. Out of coffee at 9am on a Saturday?! Also, their coffee is a powder that they could get from walking across the parking lot to Publix. We asked for a refund and were told they didn't know how to issue a refund and that the manager would have to do it. The manager, of course, was not there. So in my two experiences with this location, the manager seems to have an issue with keeping stock and training employees. When a coffee shake is one of the smoothies on your menu, you shouldn't be running out of coffee so often. There should always be someone in the store that knows how to issue a refund. You take my money twice, can't fulfill my order, and hold my money hostage?! There should always be a person in the store that knows how to properly ring up orders. It's unbelievable that instead of entering 4 of a type if smoothie, they have to add one at a time. Ridiculous. We won't be back to...

Going the extra mile.

I been to other Tropical Smoothie Cafe restaurants around South Florida but never to this one until today. I attempted to place my order online but it failed. So I called in to place my order. As I pulled in their parking lot and walked to the front door there was a sign saying "cash only". I wasn't told on the phone that I had to have cash on me to pick up my order.

As I walked up to the register I explained this to a guy named Joshua who was helping me pickup my order. My order was $14 and some change. All I had in my wallet was $8 as I usually do not carry much cash with me as I usually charge my items for points and cash back. So as I explained this to Joshua, I saw him reach in his wallet and paid the rest of my order. I was AMAZED of this level of customer service!!! I was ecstatic and in awe! Never thought our younger generation had these morals in them.

I informed the current manager Megan on this level of customer service and asked if she can let higher ups know as well how awesome of a job one of her staff members done today.

They won me as a customer and will continue to go there in the future.

Review: Clean and friendly environment and food and smoothie taste great. As I was placing my order the young lady provided me health recommendations for ingredients such as "no sugar" based on the ingredients I added to my Smoothie.

My first time there, I remember when that used to be the old padrino Cuban restaurant then there was the gas leak explosion about a year or two ago. I work in the neighborhood at the Marshalls and I waited until they were done remodeling the area so I could check out if they had some new restaurants indeed they do. So I went to check it out colleague of mine at Marshall's told me about the place so I figured why not check it out after work so I did. Since it was my first time I told the person that works there forgive me but I'm the first timer and I explained about the smoothie place at the Broward Mall that there's a drink called cocoa break peanut butter banana and chocolate mixed I don't know if you have something similar she said yes I do so I gave it a try the similar drink that they had very good very patient people for newcomers most places they will look at you and say come on hurry the hell up.
