Taqueria Pleasant Hill — Restaurant in Pleasant Hill

The food is great, but we got a talking to by the guy at the register for eating too many chips. We ordered a super burrito and tacos, so it wasn’t like we just ordered a couple beers and filled up on chips, and we ate everything we took, so we weren’t wasting any food. They have a great salsa bar, but it was very weird being policed on our chip intake.

The guy at the register must recognize me, because I’ve been back a few times since then and he always stands over me awkwardly when I’m dispensing my chips. The burritos are great, the chips and salsa are great, but it’s extremely awkward to have an employee standing behind you watching you scoop chips. Seems like a weird stand to take on what must be the cheapest item in the store. I’d be happy to pay extra for the privilege of not be surveilled by an employee while I’m getting chips, but that isn’t something they offer, so we’ll be looking for another taqueria.

My only experience was weird. I mistakenly tipped so much more than I planned to by accident. As a complication the cashier woman couldn’t reverse the transaction. That’s a function of cashiers, they handle cash. Her attitude with me for expecting her to start over was out of line. She was basically expecting me to relax and give a $10 tip for takeout on 3 burritos. When I asked her to get help to reverse it so I could redo the transaction she said no we’re only employees here, no manager. It’s a job, you have to do your part. If you can’t reverse the transaction you have to make it right. She called someone over and he helped me get the money back and I still tipped $2.
