Ok, here’s the thing, I absolutely Love Greek food. Love, love, LOVE! While I was in Greece in the summer of 2015 I fell in love with the cuisine. Upon my return home, I found myself craving those good old street foods and classic Greek recipes I ate while I was there. My father one day found Gali’s Gyro and Grill. And it was close! Now, I’ve lived in the area my whole life and I had never heard of it. We pulled up to what looked like an average adorable small family run Pittsburgh restaurant. But I have to say what goes on inside that kitchen is far from average– It was love at first bite for the both of us. I ordered a large gyro and it brought me back to my first day in Athens. A side note; There is something going on with their cucumber sauce that is magical, mystical, almost supernatural. I would literally put this stuff on everything if I could. The Baba Ganoush is another one of my favorite treats, impossible not to order. Which reminds me, if you’re a fan of grape leaves, or even if you’ve never had them, you’ll be happy you did because they’re that good. I return regularly, now with the company of my husband who is also hooked on their delicious menu. Another thing that I also can’t stress enough is what a privilege it is to have such a great Greek restaurant so close to my home. When we start feeling like Greek we just hop on over to Gali’s and we are never disappointed. The service has been excellent, the owner absolutely wonderful! It’s the kind of restaurant with the sort of menu that you just want to order one of everything. I honestly can’t believe I hadn’t up to this point given my input on this adorable little restaurant. If there was ever a small family restaurant that was deserving of a 5-star-review it is this one hands down. We will be returning...
Read moreI love the food and fast service here, I order from gali's often and recommend it to everyone. I had a 5 star review up but, sadly, im going to have to change it. On Friday, we had ordered for 6. My friend called (right in front of me, so I heard she said the order correctly), but when we got there the order was 20$ more than it shouldve been.. I immediately asked to see the receipt and explained that this was not correct. The girl who took the order immediately got defensive (it sounded like this isn't the first time this has happened). She was freaking out saying that she read the order back and thats what we said. The other woman there (she may be the owner, im not sure) just said "This is what you ordered. You ordered this and this is what we made. It is correct." Clearly a misunderstanding, I would not be changing my review if the customer service was a little better! To immediately be shut down and not listened to was disappointing. And then we had to pay 20$ more for drinks that were supposed to be included in the special... I feel like there were multiple ways this could have been delt with, but they chose to ignore us and tell us we were wrong. The food was still great, but I couldn't believe the poor...
Read moreMyself and quite a few co-workers visit Gali's often. After today I will not be one of them. The food is great! The service, not so much. Today I ordered lunch for myself and a co-worker, who was finishing seeing a patient so we thought there wouldn't be enough time to eat in the restaurant for our lunch hour. She finished early so we headed over to pick up our food. When we arrived there was one couple sitting inside the restaurant. We went to the counter and asked for our order. After getting our order, we asked if we could sit at a table and eat as we had time for lunch. Remember only 1 table was occupied the rest of the tables bare. The look we received from the server was a disgusted, bothered look and she said people have been calling and pulling this. Pulling what? I ordered the food, waited 20 mins and paid for it. Needless to say I was less than enthused. I took the food and said ok, we will eat at the office. I will never be back as this was unacceptable behavior for...
