In case you don't want to read the whole thing: The old place (Phi Vietnamese) was AMAZING and this new place is gross. Won't go here again. I LOVED Phi Vietnamese (previous restaurant before it was sold and rebranded). I was a regular there and the Pho was great. Most items on their menu were amazing (the ones I tried) and they were known for their savory crepe. I hadn't been aware they'd sold, but the menu looked pretty much the same so my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try (though I had low expectations because I loved Phi Vietnamese so much. What was the likelihood the recipes would be the same under new owners? Why even keep the same recipes if you can't do them as well?) Atmosphere: Sad. First and foremost, I know the place is relatively new, but I think a prison has more character and decorations. This could be that they are new and haven't finished furnishing though, so I won't hold that against them too much. Service: Lacking. The one person working didn't understand a ton of stuff and (despite being the only people in the restaurant) was not attentive at all. We had to go up to her to get things for our table. The Food: We ordered the savory crepe, fried beef dumplings. I got Pho and my bf got a sausage vermicelli bowl. The savory crepe was DISGUSTING. It was basically an egg omelet with wayyy too many bean sprouts inside. There was no crispiness, or really any flavor except eggs. If you were a fan of Phi Vietnamese crepe, DON'T GET THIS. You'll be super disappointed. The dumplings were Ok. Normal for dumplings. They were fine. I was excited for the Pho, because I love Pho and Phi Vietnamese had the best Pho in Doylestown and surrounding areas. Let me tell you, the Pho now is gross. Bland, the color was practically clear and all of the hearty and in-depth flavor was not there. It was a MAJOR disappointment. 100% not worth the price. Not to mention that I asked for the noodles on the side because I don't like a ton of them, and the waitress didn't understand and served them in it. Not the end of the world, but something they didn't struggle with before. My bf's bowl was good, except they gave him beef instead of sausage. It was nicely seasoned, so that's why they get an extra star. Bottom line, if you liked Phi Vietnamese, do not go here. I will never go here again. Overall, super sad that Phi is gone and this place's food def wasn't worth the $60. I will be searching for a new...
Read moreWalked in here absolutely CRAVING soup and noodles. Admittedly I’d never had pho before stepping foot in this establishment, but pho seemed like the best thing to curb my craving! I was skeptical coming here, but I’m glad I did! I was immediately submerged in a very calming atmosphere. The music being played was absolutely beautiful, the place was very clean, and even the color paint used on the wall created a calming effect. I normally don’t order tea, but I decided if I was getting hot tea anywhere, it was here. They brought me a kettle with the steeped tea leaves, and a nice little tea cup on a saucer which was definitely more plate like. It was some of the BEST Jasmine tea I’ve ever had. My boyfriend got a strawberry smoothie, and that too was beyond delicious. Unlike most American smoothies, it wasn’t overpoweringly sweet which I LOVED. Our app was calamari (not pictured because we ate it so fast!), which was probably the best cooked squid I’ve ever eaten. It was served with peppers, onions and a duck sauce. My boyfriend got the Grilled Chicken and Spring Roll Vermicelli and it was to die for!!! He didn’t seem to know how to eat the vermicelli, but he said the chicken tasted better than any chicken he’s ever had! My main meal was Bun Bo Hue and I gotta say it was SO flavorful. It comes with a plate of sprouts, jalepenos and purple basil and the pho just wasn’t right until adding the ingredients. My boyfriend and I wound up ordering an additional plate of spring rolls because they were so well done we just had to get more! Our server was so kind, answered all questions with patience and happily brought anything we wanted. Well done Fusion Palace. 5+ stars hands down. Definitely will be...
Read moreThe reviews for Fusion Palace are misleading and could be considered fraudulent. The reviews below are for the previous restaurant Phi Vietnamese which closed a couple of months ago.
I had been anxiously waiting for the grand opening of what was advertised as “changing owner in a month and we will be moving to a different location”. However, what happened was the name was changed, the staff was changed and the location remained the same. It also appears that the menu is still largely the same.
After over a couple of months being closed, I expected a new face lift inside the previously sparse and dreary restaurant. Instead, it was not only the same sad interior, it has gotten worse. There is a large section of wall that is still under construction. Instead of new shiny menus, we were handed one of the precious few worn out paper menus photocopied and drooping.
The service was terrible. Clearly the young person tasked with the job had no idea what they were doing. They were not familiar with the menu, the ordering process or even the simple task of following up after the food was delivered to ask if you wanted more water, how the meal was, etc. We had to pry them away from their smartphone in order to get a to-go box. Thankfully, the food was good.
Unless this establishment changes dramatically and quickly, I think it is destined to be a take-out only place and will likely shut down permanently. The thing Phi had going for it was a cheerful, engaging and friendly staff member and really good and interesting food options. Now all they seem to have is...
