If I could give no stars I would ! This was by far the worst experience eating at a restaurant. After being out in the heat Saturday July 20, we headed over to Perkins to have a family dinner with my husband two kids and mom. First off it wasn’t busy at all from what we could see and only 9 booths were being served at the time we came In we were the 10 in the section. So I was like oh this nice it’s not full at all our food won’t take that long. My eldest son being four is very patient to an extent and my youngest being a year old has well if you have kids you know. I’m not exaggerating when I say we had our drink order taken 30 min after we sat down 30! And it took another 15 to get them out to us. And after we finally ordered our server lost our slip and had to comeback and ask us what we ordered again. This no way being waitress’s fault btw but management our waitress was swamped alone in her section with 12 tables all full. And there was 3 extra people on the floor including who I be was the manager just walking back and forth not doing a single thing at all. At one point another waitress came to clear a table next to us and didn’t wipe it down just took dishes that’s it and it was still dirty when we left again no more than 10 -12 tables full during the 2 hrs we were there. The manager kept putting everyone that came in, in one area and expecting the one waitress that was actually doing work to manage them all. When our food came out it was a mess and I wish I would’ve taken more pictures but my kids being kids started digging in cause it had been A whole hr and like 15 minutes to get our food. My husband ordered the French dip and the sauce was literally dried spit in the bottom of a cup and my sons Mac and cheese was burnt and the pancakes we ordered were in no way shaped like a bear but a blob the lettuce in the salad was wet and dripping water which I had to tilt and empty out on a napkin I cannot recommend this restaurant at all, the lack of care from the manager and the kitchen staff as well as whoever was there was not okay and the only one trying was our waitress. And ended up paying for the Burt Mac and cheese the what looked like spit mystery dipping sauce and a wet salad. By far the worst oh and if you were wondering were the manager was when we got our check and went up to pay along with 3 other people as we waited for him he was in the back don’t know what he was doing but for a restaurant of the capacity they have to be that understaffed at that time was not okay but like I said saw at least 2 other waitresses other that our own there and the manager and no more that 12 tables being served with parties of two. We were the biggest group there with 5 people it was so bad how do you serve burnt Mack and cheese to a kid and what made it okay to serve any of the other items on our order. Not good...
Read moreThe hours are till 9pm. We went at 8:30pm right after we got out of karate Wednesday night.
First person we are faced with is the cook headed out the front door with his vape in hand, "Ya'll know we close at 9, right?" Where I tel him, "Yes, I do, we just got out of karate, thanks."
We stand there for a few moments inside, before a tall skinny woman greets us, "You know we close in 15 minutes, right?" Where I proceed to tell her, "You close in half an hour, it's only 8:30." She giggles and said, "Oh, I must have lost track of time, how many of you are there?" I told her, "4." We are seated. Then she tells us, "I'm out of meatloaf and pork chops. Can I get you started on drinks?"
Then ANOTHER waitress comes over. She was the ONLY one with any courtesy and manners. Greeted us properly.
We pretty much knew what we wanted before we came in. WE FREQUENT HERE REGULARLY. (How do you think I knew who the cook was walking out while we walked in? 🤣) So, when our drinks arrived, we placed our 4 orders and 1 to go order.
The thing that sucked while waiting the 20 minutes for our food in the empty restaurant was this; No one came back to check on our drinks and 2 people had been finished with theirs No one was even in eye sight to flag them down because the 2 waitresses were in the kitchen Then you hear the tall skinny waitress and the cook get into an argument about him having an attitude with her You hear the tall skinny waitress ask the cook to make another batch of my blueberry pancakes before the entire food order comes out
Not for anything, but it used to be if a place closed at 9, that meant you took your last customer at 9. It didn't mean you tried to guilt trip customers who came in at 8:30 because you wanted to go home by 9. And let me tell you, that cook was out the door by 9, telling the other waitress good bye.
We are and always have been good tippers. If you stayed for us past the time, we are always appreciative, especially because Perkins is one of the closest restaurants to our home and nearest to our dojo. So, if they've stayed 15 to 30 minutes for our table they made their wage per hour plus another $20 - $30 for that time. Which, we still tipped for the time on Wednesday, but overall, that service, and visit, wasn't worth it.
You guys have to remember that someone's even if it stinks for you, you're all some of us have on these nights. You're already closing early cause it's slow. It's going to get a lot slower when your regular people stop coming cause you're worried if we keep you...
Read morePerkins has come a long way. It seems like they are losing touch with the market imo. They had a multitude of furniture and decorations updated but the menu seems a bit perplexing
I'm not sure why they aren't trying to get away from certain older meals they always had. Granted I did enjoy a few of them but I really wish they would update the menu with OTHER enjoyable options
I know Perkins is more of a bakery now but I find it funny that on March 14th (pi day π) they ran out of pies!! I don't understand why they thought people wouldn't be interested in coming on that day specifically for a pie
What's odd is, the muffin choices seem to be the same old without thinking about keeping the popular ones in stock. I don't know if they purposely only cook a certain amount and just run out but I feel like they don't tell you how many are made etc
The dining room was very nice, unexpected since it's not the same experience as in just a few years ago. The Warminster Perkins is now gone so this is basically the closest to me and it's a pretty good hike up 611 towards 313
I don't see myself going out of my way unless I want a royal treatment for a dining room experience. It's great because during lunch this place was really empty. Meaning you could go to a remote table with a laptop etc. Maybe if the coffee was better or had better options this might be able to get more people here.
It's sad to say that Perkins in this area would be more successful if they had better cafe drinks. With more people being remote this might be a huge market to tap into. Who wants to stay at home all night and day. I find it nice to change it up and Starbucks is too small and crowded imo
Sorry for the long rant but I don't know if this Perkins will last. I hope it does considering...
