I was incredibly disappointed and upset at the poor customer service exhibited by this small business on Saturday.
To start off I placed an order at 0811- the woman on the phone was pleasant. My pick-up time was after 1100 because I ordered bread that would be ready only after 1100. I ordered 3 different breads, 6- raspberry croissants and 2- ham and cheese croissants.
I arrived to the bakery- went to get fresh brewed coffee for my husband and me; and a woman behind the counter got the bag with my phone order and put it by the register. I walked around the store and got additional 2- bags of coffee and was looking at the focaccia, this is when the customer service went downhill.
The individual helping me, younger girl with short hair and a colored stripe, unfriendly- unexpected for a small business. I brushed it off, she got my focaccia and I brought over the two bags of bean coffee, which lay in a basket (for everyone to feel, pick-up, touch, etc) along with my 2-cups of coffee. She rung me up, and seeing that the bag (with bread and croissants) was already overfilled continued to place the 2- coffee bean bags on top of bread, that was uncovered, in the same bags of coffee beans that are out for everyone to touch, pick-up, feel, etc during a pandemic. I asked for another bag- she gave me the bag as if it was an inconvenience for her. I found it very rude. I brushed it off again and collected my items to go to the car. She did offer to help me take my items to my car, but I was ready to leave the store after the negative experience I was having.
I get to my car and went to take a croissant out to have with my coffee, thank goodness I was still in the parking lot. I open the bag and see a mangled mess of all of the croissants- whoever, packed them did not follow the bakery’s recommendation/policy of “five or more croissants are placed in a box”- staff member confirmed this out loud (when I went back in). I go back to the store- and the first thing I get, by the woman who pulled my order, “I did notice they were a bit crushed” and my question was “and it was ok for you to sell this to me?” They asked me if I wanted a refund- and blamed it on whoever packed my order. Very incredibly unprofessionally, why would I go back in if I didn’t want a refund or at least an apology?
You, as a business, are putting out a product, how do you allow your staff to be so careless and how do you allow subpar products to be sold to customers? I am beyond disappointed by the way the staff behaved- this was not my first visit, not my first negative experience with the staff, but this was “the straw that broke the camel's back”. I would always make an excuse for the rude customer service- over the summer my parents and/or I were over there more than two to three dozen times (I have receipts to prove this) and the customer service has ranged from subpar to non-existent- unless they know you. Why did I continue to return? I loved the bakery items and supporting a small business. Will I return again? Probably not, nothing is worth feeling like you are a nuisance or a bother when you come to support a small business. I will take the $60-80 I would spend per visit to another small business with better...
Read moreEveryone is always friendly, baked goods always perfect. Please be respectful to service workers right now. They work with a mask on 8 hours a day, to serve you. during a pandemic. Take your belief that these people owe you something because you paid them 3 dollars for a croissant somewhere else. How rude can someone be when interacting for 3 minutes? How about you go behind that counter and act cheerful and perfect every day and tell me how that works out for you. It’s always obvious when someone who leaves a review about customer service over such small things has never worked in customer service. And if you have, and that’s the way you are treating staff, then you probably had complaints filed against you at that establishment. People really want to give 1 stars reviews for a minor i convince because they feel entitled. Also noticed someone write a review because they were closing down their case at 1:30.... it’s a bakery.... they sell out on busy days... do you not????...
