Absolutely amazing. Me and the Mrs went there for a date night while the kids slept out. After some debate we figured we would try it out. Everyone was at all the other places further downtown and no one was there so it was perfect for our purposes. Nice & quiet dinner is what happens next right? Wrong. Out of no where these dudes come busting in and there arguing about go knows what. Then the owner comes out and starts wailing on them both and I mean just really laying into them. It got really weird because the Bartender put on some italian death metal and our waitress was swinging her head around like a woman possessed by the helloed music of satans spawn. Then in a weird twist jesus appeared in a great flash of light and spaghetti sauce. Only it wasn't jesus it was Marlon Brando and he kept asking for cannoli. The whole time we are in shock but it was awesome. The food was freshly made and even just the smell was amazing. We had the benefit of coming into a place that was getting ready to wind down for the night so all the smells of the food filled the place with aromas that take you back to your childhood. You know that is until ninjas come crashing through the ceiling fighting space monkey's. Something about Zanthar needing a pasta Fasul to calm the swelling tide of free thought and Zantharian Womans right to shave movement. My god though the sauces were amazing. Every bite was like it was meant for your mouth. At the market price it damn well better be too and it WAS. So after they cleaned all that up an we talked for a bit we ordered the Tiramisu which must be homemade and hand delivered by the space monkeys because it is out of this world. Date night was a success and I have them to thank for offering up such good food. You know that feeling of being full and your in heaven? Thats the feeling we had. Not like going to most other places where you stuff your face and you feel like Johnny from that movie in Home Alone. That awful "my stomach feels like its full of lead" is never a good night-cap and I didn't get it here. We got a good meal served by decent people in a cozy atmosphere. I would highly recommend to all those in the quadrant and would suggest it be added in the "Where to eat stuff" section of The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy and...
Read moreThis was our first time and a surprise by my husband on Valentine's night. We enjoy trying new places and were able to park just a short walk away on the street. As we walked in there seemed to be no sign nor hostess. They finally came out of the kitchen and someone asked if we had reservations and with our yes reply proceeded to tell us to select any table (they all had reserved signs). We sat down and waited well over 10 minutes before our waitress came along with menus and water. She proceeded to tell us she was new. We waited another 10 min or more before she took our drink order. By the time she came by to take our dinner order, my husband asked if the drinks were ready. It seemed no one was at the bar. She proceeded to check on the drink order and took a while before coming back with drinks (she had to ask who had which drink) and finally took our dinner order. In the meantime she was escorting new arrivals to a table. There seemed to be limited staff and no order to what was supposed to be a special evening. We received bread (3 small slices of italian bread) along with delicious dipping oil. Then later our first course arrived (our waitress asked if we had ordered what she was delivering) and we were able to order a 2nd drink (delivered by a different woman who happened to see them sitting at the bar). Our dinner finally arrived and was delicious and hot which was delightful. Needless to say three couples got impatient and walked out, one table had no waitress come with menus or water (over 15 minutes waiting). After our meal we sat for a bit watching the fiasco of our missing waitress from our side of the room. We were told by the same woman who brought our drinks that our waitress was leaving. We decided coffee and dessert were best out of the question even though we were asked if we wanted anything else. We paid our bill and finally our waitress appeared and said, "where is your rose" and proceeded to bring me a rose and 2 chocolates and told us the chef was all alone and didn't feel the need to bring on extra staff. My husband felt bad and gave her an extra tip. Overall we loved our drinks and dinner but were a bit disappointed with the service. I'm not sure we'll go back anytime soon. Oh let me say the piano man was...
Read moreIn reading other reviews I almost feel like we went to a completely different place than described. We decided to go to Toscana's for Friday night date night as we have never been and wanted to try something new besides our usual haunts, and where I have very few Friday nights off it was assumed this was going to be a good choice. Not that we were wrong, but it wasn't the best choice.
We walked in and half the tables were not cleared, so we had the choice of four tables, maybe. We were never given any water, even though we had the glasses on the table. It took over fifteen minutes to get a menu and I was afraid to ask for a wine list because I never knew when she might come back and grab the order so we just ordered two glasses of the house cabernet. There only appeared to be one person running the whole front of house (maitre'd to bartender to waitress to busser), when asked if it was a busy night she stated that it was the normal night. She was also answering the phones and taking phone orders, which she also said the phone never rings there....why doesn't the phone ever ring there? That isn't something that seems positive to say, that you didn't get any phone traffic. It probably took another fifteen minutes or so for our order to go in. The food itself came out at a normal speed, nice and hot and delicious. The food and wine were very good, but I was surprised at the lack of red sauce dishes, a lot of creamy and white wine sauces.
Anyways from start to finish it was close to an hour and a half to dine for a restaurant that when we sat down only had three other tables, there was a large group but they were waiting for others to arrive, which happened well after we got our food. I don't know if our experience was normal, but I found it strange that only one person was running the front...
