I have been fighting the urge to even tickle this shift shack's owners fancy but I am truly burnt about this. My mother has been in this industry since I was a wee tot and today was one of those days I wished she was eating with my Fiancee and I. They have two stars for the fast service but that is about all that they have and our server Donna was quick to get me a replacement of my meal due to me eating an egg shell in my scrambler omelette (that isn't an omelette for those of you who would like to order it, it is just scrambled eggs let down) smallest three egg omelette or portion of scrambled eggs I have ever seen even with its fixin's. This is why I started with my mom she would have either compensated my meal to help my experience as a customer be more pleasant regardless of me getting a redo, or comped the drinks by the way two brisk iced teas were priced outrageously and had so much ice in them it was saddening. I also asked for onions in both my fiance and I's homefries and my first plate I didn't get to really eat any but the little I did taste had no onion in at all and my second plate had none at all for sure, my fiance said his was lacking he is an onion lover so this is pretty bad. I too have worked in the food and beverage industry and am appalled that I even gave it a chance with a second plate and had to pay full price. I sent my fiance up to pay cause I don't play that at all and I was sure they would want to reap fully on our consumer experience. Never again I hope they enjoyed the full charge, I felt bad about not tipping but the server would be first in line to make sure that this type of issue doesn't happen at least voice that there was an error in the kitchen something but nothing at all. We will never be back even if we are offered a complimentary service no bill at the end nothing. The portions for price is horrible the glasses are huge and mostly filled with ice hot day or not I pay for the beverage not the ice and I sincerely hope the glass of water my fiance ordered after finishing his iced tea was not added to the bill. Should have read the reviews before entering this establishment .... if you don't mind a drive Mullers Family Diner in Marshalls Creek has huge portions for a low price and have been there loads of time due to family living near by before we also moved to the area, if that is too far my second suggestion is Triplets in Stroudsburg hell been a while but Snydersville Diner too. I attached a photo of what my meal was supposed to have looked like on a recent photo from a customer, wishing I took a photo of either of ours, as well as the menu price of what was ordered added the receipt. I can't quite add how it is that much in the end we ordered two of the same meals and drinks plus one water and added onions to homefries and cheese to both "omelettes" asked for a small bowl of lemons where am I at maybe 20 dollars maybe 23; lemons are comp, water is comp, adding onions to homefries is based on the place in price but never more than a dollar...
Read moreI'm not sure if we'll ever go back. Now, we went for lunch, it was around 11 and it's not only Sunday but also Mother's Day. I knew it was going to be busy, I was fine with that.
We showed up and told it would be a 20-minute wait, but no one took our name to put us on a waiting list. When others showed up after us they were told by the gentlemen seating everyone that he could take one more family for the wait list but it was gonna be an hour wait now and he wasn't going to take any more on the wait list. Thats a first I've ever heard from a restaurant.
We were seated within minutes. The gentlemen was nice. The food was decent flavor wise and price point. We were told there was a 20% gratuity but im not sure we were ever charged one as our meals and drinks equaled the price on the check.
HOWEVER the waitress was a total snot. Older woman, hair in a bun. She came to take our drinks, now we've never been here, and I had 4 kids to sort out. We weren't quite ready, and she made it well know. Her stance was irritated, and he huffed. Cooked her hip. I had to ask what soda products they carried because she most certainly wasn't going to tell me.
When it came to ordering, again she was super impatient. Now I know they were busy, but im sorry, knock it off. I've been a waitress. Check the attitude at the door, put a smile on your face and just be nice. Waitresses is hard but you being a brat to people dosent help the business or your customers feel welcomed. I've had bad days at work, so your not as chatty or maybe you don't walk around smiling. But to sit there and treat one table different from the next, why?
I get we're tourists, and tourists can be the worst. Judge people individually not as a whole.
I had to ASK for refills and ASK for a to go container. She checked on us once to make sure we had enough syrup right after we got our food. After that, she didn't stop to check on us at all. Table behind us though, she was sweet as pie to. Asked them if they needed anything, got them to go containers. A bag to carry stuff in, handed them the check, and told them to have a great day. I dont know what her problem was, which is unfortunate because I would have gone back for breakfast again.
Overall, if you're desperate for breakfast at 1pm, you might want to give these guys a try. But don't expect to be treated well by the waitress we had. She has an issue...
Read moreOn Sunday, April 21st, 2024 at approximately 9:30am, I made a phone call to Billy's Pocono diner. I wanted to place an order to pick up breakfast. I was going to order 5 steak, egg, and cheese bagels.
A gentleman picked up the phone. I believe he was actually the owner.
I said: Hello, good morning. How are you doing today? He response was: Yes, can I help you?
I said: ok.... I'd like to place an order for pick up.
He said: we don't do take out until 2pm. And then he immediately hung up the phone on me.
I was actually parked outside at the time I called so I walked inside.
The gentleman told me at thr door... table for 1?
I said: I'd actually like to place an order to go please.
He told me again that they don't take to go orders until 2pm.
I said that there's hardly anyone here and I'm going to wait for it. Would you serve me if I had a party of 5? I understand why you'd have that in place but since there's hardly anyone here and it isnt busy, would you please accommodate me? And I was actually the one that called... you just hung up the phone on me after saying that you don't take orders to go until 2pm. Why do you have to be so rude?
He responded by saying: what do you want me to do, make a date with you? You're being rude to me! I said we don't do take out and you're still here.
I said: are you kidding me? I'm one of the most polite people you'll ever meet.
He responds by saying: Me too....I'm polite too. You know what, I'm not gonna argue. What do you want?
Then he put the menu on the table.
I said I wasn't going to order food from you anymore. I asked: You don't want business? This is how you treat people?
He walked away from me and said he was done. I left right after.
I'd never expect this type of treatment from an owner. Usually owners make it their priority to be kind and welcoming to customers because they'd like them to come back.
I'm not sure if me being African American played a role with his treatment of me as he was rude to me over the phone prior to seeing what I looked like. But it was definitely worse...
