J Sushi & Ramen — Restaurant in Pomona

Always curious about a ramen-ya I haven't tried (been pretty much everywhere east of LA and between San Gabriel and Costa Mesa). This place was pretty decent for the IE, but below average if you're willing to drive another 20 minutes.

Good service. Reasonable prices (only talking about ramen). Nice atmosphere.

On to the food: Ordered miso ramen with a side of karaage. Karaage meat was well-cooked and seasoned, though the batter, while well-fried, had no seasoning and only tasted like old frier oil. With the ramen, noodles and egg were medium (would want both a touch less cooked); veggies were fine; chashu was pretty dry and chewy (mainly because I'm pretty sure it was sirloin instead of belly). However, the main offender was that the broth was so damn salty as to make it essentially undrinkable (literally the saltiest ramen I've ever had).

End result: less salty broth (and more tender chashu), and I'd go back...but not order anything fried. As is, I'd rather drive the...

I done it all . Spearfish, abalone diving , Fillet over 500 fish from the ocean fresh. I know my seafood and for sure know my sushi.

Came down for a concert and chess match from Sacramento to Pomona,Ca. Really close to the hotel I was staying at. Not very big for setting so get there early ! Went in it was busy when I left it was full house on a Friday night. That is a good tell !!!!!!

Charlie was epic for customer service and made really bomb Albacore Sea steak !!! I had 2 large orders of the Sea steak! Gave him a $20 bill because he was so kind and a true artist at making sushi ! Tried the home made sake with Jalapenos and the other had real plums. Both so smooth !!! Come on down for a great time and good food!!! Much love to...

This is a small hole in the wall place that puts a smile on your face. Epic flavors for the appetizers, the fried gyoza is a must have. The spicy garlic endamame makes my mouth water just thinking about it. The crab wontons are beautiful and the sauce that comes with it is crazy good! The fish is always fresh and fantastic quality. I absolutely love bringing friends and family here. Read the chef specials and take advantage of the 2 for 1 beers during happy hour!!!! If you're into sushi rolls the ones here are edible art.
