Fort Lauderdale, FL 1698413021439 1/27/2014 13 photos Flanigan's is a big chain and though any restaurant that's part of a big chain spooks me, I generally like the ambiance and fun type atmosphere of most Flanigan's, with this location in particular. The décor is clearly nautical, plenty of fish mounts, memorabilia, some kicky looking surf boards, mellow lighting and a warm wood panel interior. Basically a décor and place conducive to enjoyable good times and fun. I've also always found the service to be exceptionally good.

The food however is another matter. Passable, sort of OK, but that's about it.

I had a number of their fish dishes which were OK, but nothing special or unique. During my last stop, which was the basis for this review, I went for their best known dish, the one they prize themselves about, being their ribs. They were certainly meaty and as advertised did indeed have the tender falling off of the bone quality about them, but to my taste rather tasteless, bland, without any smoke flavor or barbecue quality. Then if you try to pep it up a bit, you'll find that they only have one squirt bottle of sauce on the table which doesn't accomplish anything since it's basically a sweet sauce lacking in zest.

The bar drinks I've had are all rather good and I note that they generally use a better quality of booze for their standard or well drinks than do many other establishments. Better yet, they have a decent price...

I been coming here for years. I used to live in the area. When I come down to Florida I always made it a point to stop in. They have a wonderful LUNCH SPECIALS 11am- 4pm for $6.99 plus the purchase of a drink. All orders must be placed by 4pm. There are no substitutions. The list includes: Homemade Soup & Sandwich Pasta Salad with Homemade Crab, Tuna, or Chicken Salad Homemade Soup & Salad Chargrilled 10-Ounce Burger with Potato or Rice BBQ Chicken Sandwich with Potato or Rice Fresh BBQ Half Chicken with Potato or Rice Ten Wings with Potato or Rice Blackened Tilapia Sandwich with Potato or Rice My favorite is their 10oz Cheeseburger. I get it with a Baked Potato. You can get the Baked Potato Loaded. If not, Fries, or Sweet Potato Fries . My other favorite is their BBQ 1/2 Chicken. I also get a Baked Potato. If you’re looking for a meal with Salad then I recommend JOE’S MEALS. Meals include potato or rice, a Caesar Salad, garlic rolls, and a FREE drink* Ten Wings - Ten of their award-winning wings in Mild, Medium, Hot or BBQ $15.99 BBQ Half Chicken - A juicy, BBQ half-chicken grilled to perfection $16.99 Fried Shrimp - Nine perfectly fried shrimp $17.99 Prime Rib - 8-ounce cut of aged, Angus beef (available after 4 pm) $18.99 Tilapia - Sautéed in our homemade Lemon Pepper sauce or blackened $18.99 Steak - 8-ounce NY Strip Steak, seasoned and charbroiled $18.99 Ribs - Flanigan's juicy, tender, baby back ribs $19.99 Half Rack $24.99 Full Rack *Your choice of domestic draft beer, house wine, soda, iced tea, bottled water, or lemonade. I love the ribs here. They fall off the bone. All non alcoholic drinks are served in a large Green Flanagan’s plastic cup with lid. If you bring back the green cup for your next visit, there’s no charge for the drink. This place has a nice bar area and they serve Happy Hour Monday- Friday 4-7 pm “BAR AREA ONLY.” 50% off all Beer, Wine,and Liquor excludes pitchers. They also have a Late Night Happy Hour every night from 9pm until closing. They also serve late night munchies from 10pm until 12am. Everyday Flanigan’s offers a different special they also have a LUNCH CLUB. Every time you eat there at lunch, you get a stamp on the card. 10 stamps your 11th lunch becomes free. The atmosphere is very casual. During the season this place is always packed. Flanagan’s also has outdoor seating. They do a pretty good job getting everyone seated promptly. It really depends on when you go. Flanigan’s also has curbside pick up. A lot of the specials will not apply unless you eat in. Flanigan’‘s also does catering . Every Kid’s Meal includes a kid’s cup. Choice of water, lemonade, or soda.If you add .49 you can get juice or milk. MINI CORN DOGS Eight lil’ corn dogs served with Curly French Fries. $6.99 SKATEBOARD BURGER A quarter pounder, served with Curly French Fries. Say, "cheese!" if you want it. $6.99 CHICKEN GRILLERS Four chargrilled all white meat chicken strips, served with Curly French Fries. $6.99 JURASSIC JUNIORS Eight dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets with Curly French Fries. $6.99 MACARONI & CHEESE $6.99 KID'S RIBS A four-bone rack of Flanigan's BBQ Baby Back Ribs.Served with a small mountain of Curly French Fries. $6.99 They have a free parking lot. There’s handicapped parking and a ramp . I would definitely recommend coming here. This place has good value...

Flanigan’s was highly recommended to me by quite a few friends and colleagues. I went in for my first time tonight and it was a horrible experience. It took 10 minutes for a bartender to even acknowledge me and ask me what I wanted to drink, this was a bar that was half full mind you. The female bartender was talking and laughing with her regular crowd while the male bartender was busy closing out checks and checking on food. I grew up in this business, my family owned and managed restaurants so I know what it takes to do the job. A bartenders job is to make sure that the patrons drinks are always filled, food in front of them, dirty plates and glasses removed, it’s not a hard job. Again, one bartender laughing and joking with regulars, the other bartender doing his job. I know that it’s important to keep your regulars happy, I get it, but you don’t neglect others in the process. I finally got my beer and asked about specials and the menu, which the female bartender explained very well. I then went ahead and ordered my meal. It took about 10 minutes and my food was brought out to me. I asked where my salad was and it arrived 2 minutes later. The food runner said that she would put my food under the light while I ate my salad. I told her that was unacceptable. Appetizers, salads, soups, they all come before the meal, then your meal comes. I declined the food, then the bartender came by and stated, that she would get me fresh food and it wouldn’t sit under a light. The next thing is, I’m receiving a check for my one drink. A few minutes go by and I asked where my meal was and the male bartender said he would get the manager. The manger comes up, extremely unprofessional and with an attitude. I tried to explain the situation to him as I have stated in this review. He talked over me and wouldn’t listen. I tried again and he continued to be defiant and wouldn’t listen. He stated that “he believes the bartender over me”. There is nothing to believe, there are facts and the fact was exactly what I explained above. She told me she would get me fresh food and she didn’t. When you know the business and you realize that these days, there are bartender’s and people who pour drinks, they are very different. Then, there are managers and employees who wear a managers name tag, big difference, as you can read in this review. Managers resolve issues, managers take care of patrons, this manager literally escalated the situation, the exact opposite of what he should have been trained to do.

A horrible experience, my first and last time at this establishment. And, if you go back and read the past negative reviews, you will notice that they never respond to those reviews, only positive ones, that speaks volumes. This is a perfect example of a restaurant that is not managed properly. They could care less about my review or if I ever come back, they have plenty of regulars, and that’s ok. There are plenty of restaurants around town. I would never recommend this establishment and I’m actually going to call their corporate office tomorrow to explain the situation. Maybe the “manager” and I say that jokingly, will be reprimanded and possibly trained the correct way in how to treat patrons so that no one has to have the experience that I had. STAY AWAY...
