Goldberg's Famous Bagels — Restaurant in Pompton Lakes

I am so disappointed with Goldberg’s. I will never order from them again. They literally lied to me on the phone today. I wanted to place an order at 1:20 pm , I spoke with a male with an accent. I said my son would be picking it up so I would just place the order even if it was cold when my son gets there. He told me” no don’t do that, I don’t want your food to be cold”. I said well you close at 2 pm so I thought I should go ahead and place the order. He said” we are open until 3 pm today , so call back a little before he is coming to pick it up. I said” So I can call at 2:15, and then he will pick it up and he said “yes, no problem”. The fact that they literally lied to me makes me sick to my stomach! There was no reason for that. We order from them very often and live in this town. When he said they were open until 3 pm today I actually said, o wow that’s great , I didn’t realize. In my mind I thought maybe because some of the Covid restrictions were lifted, that they went back to there regular hours. So, then my son thought maybe their phone was set off at 2 pm and they forgot to change it so he drove over there just to find them closed. I truly can not believe they lied to me and there was no miscommunication. He clearly understood me and I understood him. So, for anyone else beware because if they lied like this for no reason what else are they doing...

Goldberg’s Famous Bagels in Pompton Lakes, NJ, is a gem worth visiting! My experience here was nothing short of phenomenal, and I’m happy to share my thoughts.

First off, the location is super convenient with plenty of parking inside the plaza, which is a big plus for anyone familiar with the parking challenges in this area.

The staff are absolutely wonderful—courteous, respectful, patient, and extremely welcoming. Their friendliness makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. A younger gentleman, who I believe might be the owner or manager, was particularly helpful. He went above and beyond to recommend a bagel option for me when the one I originally wanted was out of stock. His recommendations did not disappoint, and I truly appreciated the effort he made to ensure I had a great experience.

Though I visited after lunchtime, which explains why a few options were unavailable, it’s understandable given the popularity of the place. Even then, the overall atmosphere and the attentive service more than made up for it.

The bagels themselves? Amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you’d expect from a place with "famous" in the name.

All in all, Goldberg’s Famous Bagels deserves five stars for their fantastic food, excellent service, and welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back, and I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great...

My colleagues and I used to order from them for over a year now. Even though I found plastic inside their empanada we continued to order. When I called to let them know what I found the “manager’s” respond was “uhhh what exactly would you like us to do” it was a guy btw, completely uninterested and just an awkward conversation. He lacks in everything as food industry manager, lack of control, no communication skills and no solution really. He provided a $2.75 credit toward my next order. Which my silly self then ordered something else the next day and I told them to apply it but some other lady said “we refunded you the whole order back to the card”. Well it’s been a week but no refund. We were also accused of us not paying an order from supposedly months ago so what they did was made us think we agreed to pay tip over the phone (which by the way we did not authorize) and charged us double the amount. We called to discuss and the same lady had such a nasty attitude. “Don’t call again we will not take your order. All you guys do is cause issues” and as we were trying to get answers she just hung up on us. (this is the polite version). This deli is unprofessional, they lack in communication and well they not only lost one customer. They lost a full company amount...
