UPDATE:01/13/2022:
🔹STAFF/SERVICE: I eat here regularly, The service staff are excellent, extremely kind, friendly and efficient. The actual Owner is on-site, and is super friendly and relatable.
🔹FOOD: Generous portions and good, tasty , hot, quality food like you would cook at home if you had time or the desire.
A simple menu of PICK YOUR boxed MEAL such as: 5-Piece Fried Shrimp (large breaded shrimp) 5-Piece Fried Fish (Battered) Baked Chicken Meatloaf in Gravy Etc… AND == 2 - SIDES, such as: •Macaroni+Cheese •Broccoli+Cheese (my FAV!) so good, just steamed broccoli w/cheese baked on top like You would do at home! •Yams (sweet) •Sautéed Cabbage •Lo Mein (cabbage, carrots, noodles) •Steamed Broccoli (plain) •Turnip Greens •Plain White Rice •Fried Rice • Etc..
What They serve daily tends to be the same menu, but it fluctuates depending on what they have available, as they SELL OUT FAST!!
🔹HOURS: They open at 11am, and serve from their hot box window display, showing prepared food and sides. This is normally SOLD OUT & CLOSED DOWN by 2pm. Afterwards Your items are cooked to order and is dependent upon what is still available. They stay open until around 7-8pm, but menu choices by then are slim pickings..still yummy & still worth it, but you will have very limited options.
🔹PRICE: The price is generally $9-$10 a boxed meal. They do have other individual options, but I would go with the $10min a meal not including a soda fountain drink. VERY reasonable considering the quality of food & the serving sizes!
🔹DINING: A wooden bar with about 3-4 Chairs, and 3-4 Tables with 2 chairs each, it really isn’t set up for dine-in, as most patrons take their food to go. Locals, Construction Workers, Soccer Mom’s, Individuals, Everyone eats here, They stay busy! It doesn’t matter what time you go. However, the staff is so efficient that the wait isn’t very long, even if the place is packed.
🔹PARKING: They share a parking lot with a Gym, and a Urgent Care Medical Ctr, along with Gabriel’s Hardware, so there is ample parking, and even when full up, give it a minute and you will find a spot. But, be ware of the large construction/building material trucks that go thru to the back...
Read moreA good solid 4. When COVID isn't a thing anymore, the ambiance could potentially bring it up a bit more but right now it is too much of a lunch stop for business people. Good, solid food. It isn't elevated beyond what it is, but it is tasty and filling. Just enough spice in the right dishes. The customer service is friendly if slow. It took five minutes waiting in line and two minutes at the counter for service, but given the lunch rush that may not be an unreasonable amount of time. I greatly appreciated how thorough they are in checking on allergy issues. If you have an allergy, they double check every dish and walk you through the recipe to ensure you are safe. If I were rating the restaurant only on that point, they would get a 5 all day long. I very nearly upgraded them to a 5 purely on that component by itself. They care about the customer. If the restaurant wants to bump it to a five without putting much else into the food, adding a themed set of decorations would be enough to elevate it beyond just another Deli place. Something quirky and uniquely theirs. It wouldn't take much to get a five. I highly...
Read moreWe came here for lunch recently and we liked that we could create our own box. We tried their fried fish and fried shrimp. Both had good flavor and decent crunch. We also had a side of sweet heat garlic wings. The wings were well seasoned and crispy but it didn’t really taste like sweet heat garlic.
As for the sides: the fried rice was good and we liked that there were decent sized shrimps in there but the portion of rice was quite small; the collard greens were pretty bland but cooked well in terms of texture; the mac and cheese was warm and cheesy so no complaints, the beans and rice was regular but there was hardly any rice in there; the cornbread was good. Overall, I think this is a good spot for an occasional take out lunch. I would definitely come back and try some of the other entrees and maybe load up on the...
