Feng's Asian Buffet — Restaurant in Poplar Bluff

Ok guys, get ready... This is not a typical post, and honestly I hate to diss a restaurant. However, I feel the experience this evening is justifiable. In hindsight, I wish I had taken pictures. I did SS the public announcement on their FB page which I added to this post. Feng Asian Cuisine now under a new name and location, formerly known as Chin, just opened for business on Dec. 19th in the old Office Depot building. I loved Chin and never experienced a problem. This is nothing personal, and I know everyone has bad days. However, this is newly established totally refurbished, previously vacated for an extended period of time, building. I will say, they've created a mega buffet and they used the entire space. The buffet spans the building in a jagged pattern from front to back, and there's seating enough for at least a couple hundred people. Now for the least favorable: When reaching in a tote for a soup bowl which was on the shelf under the buffet next to the plates, I noticed several bowls appeared to have stains from the sweet & sour sauce, upon further digging to find one with no stain, I see they were WET with sauce and had food particles on the outside. The tote obviously wasn't emptied of dirty bowls, or the dishwasher wasn't working. In a plate of food, there was a dark blob. First thought, possibly part of a mushroom, nope. It was approx 1/2" long cooked roach. I placed the bug on a napkin and showed the waitress. She said "I'm so sorry, I'll show the manager." There was no charge for the meal, nor was there...

Came here for second time, after looked at some positive reviews this time.

Our first time here at the beginning of 2025 was not that great, but tonight is very different.

We were greeted warmly by our male server (our table was B10, came at 19:10)

The hibachi was great, our beef was tender, the lomein this time was not plain.

Many foods were warm, not lukewarm like our first visit.

A huge leap of improvement.

Just one small note: the management should refill the empty foods in time, since we came at busy hour, they should anticipate it beforehand.

Nevertheless a really positive experience tonight, very enjoyed the meal and the great service from the male server (we didn't get his name since he was really busy catering to lots of table and later he had his dinner when we left)

I was at the buffet and found a baby roach on the same sushi that I just ate 10 of then one of the staff members literally got mad and then didn’t even kill just put in the back room it was a full platter of sushi so I assume he didn’t want to throw it away for one baby roach as if it is normal there so I stood there to see if he would put back on display and he watched me Watching him and I guess he changed his mind I told my wife we gotta go so sad such a beautiful place but yet nasty The whole time I was excited about the atmosphere, but for some reason when I got my sushi plate, I felt disgusted. Never have I ever done that. I even felt like it was the people sitting next to us so we move tables, but that wasn’t good enough once I got up to go get more sushi I found a baby roach crawling out from underneath the sushi Just got done eating ten of So disgusted I feel bad for my wife more...
