Dock's Beach House Restaurant — Restaurant in Port Clinton

It’s off-season, so we got seated right away. We ordered chips with salsa and queso as an appetizer, a chicken sandwich with fries and the perch tacos (that automatically comes with chips). For $11, I was at least expecting fresh chips. What came was basically stale grocery store bagged chips and equally disappointing salsa and queso (I could have gotten the same stuff from the grocery store for about $7 in total and at least have had multiple servings). As we waited for our actual meals, we noticed everyone around us (who had been seated AFTER us) started getting their meals. So we continued to sit and wait until the waitress finally tells us she’s about to go get our food. She then comes back a couple minutes later to ask us what we ordered. We proceeded to repeat what we had ordered as she acted baffled as to what happened to our order. “It just disappeared!” So she re-entered the order and I “wrongly” assumed there would be a rush put on it. We continue to watch other tables get their food, one of which was the same chicken sandwich (very frustrating). When we got our food, I realized I should have asked if it was the same chips, because now I have even MORE stale chips sitting in front of me. Oh well, my mistake I guess. My tacos were pretty good, so that was a plus, but my husband said his sandwich was dry. ANYWHO, we finish and get the check. No surprise at this point, there was no attempt to compensate for the mistake of our order getting “misplaced”. No offer of dessert (even though I probably would have declined anyway) and no other acknowledgment of what happened. Came here with my boyfriend and my dog as i called and looked online, the person who answered the phone said dogs were allowed on the beach just not the restaurant area. as we take our dog to multiple areas around port clinton area, we always double check and remain respectful. we were going to have a beach day and planned on getting food to go at the end of the day as i've always enjoyed docks and considered it a nostalgic place. it's really went downhill, especially today when a construction worker angrily started screaming at me and my boyfriend. He didn't even approach us he screamed at us across the beach. he then just continued to say no dogs so we just left. when i was leaving i drove by and i asked for his name to legitimize his claim as the "owner" but then he was on the phone with someone who threatened to get us arrested when we were already leaving the premises (???) and not the ones causing a public disturbance. lol i said an employee told us we were okay to have a dog on the beach. he said it doesn't matter what the employee says but what he says. staff had walked by us, said nothing, customers, jet ski employees, nothing. then an angry man started screaming at us. it's completely okay to enforce rules but not in that manner or fashion especially when we were told otherwise by an actual representative of the business. in conclusion i wont be coming back here unless it's with a group of people. There are much better areas to eat in port clinton/ marblehead! with better vibes, entertainment, food, communication skills, and inclusivity of dogs! such a shame this place...

If you’re not from around here and just want to eat on the lake go ahead and stop in. The scenery is beautiful and when the outdoor area is open (which it was not for us) it seems like it would be lovely. If you’re more of a local resident just wanting to enjoy a meal this review is for you. I was unpleasantly surprised by Dock’s. I was expecting a nice restaurant with sushi and many appealing seafood dishes. I had seen people posting sushi but apparently they don’t do that right now. We tried a couple of appetizers, a burger and the $32 perch dinner. Just go down the road to Jolly Roger’s for perch, it taste better to me and it’s cheaper. Apparently the burger didn’t come with any sides since we were charged for the cucumber salad and fries separately. The service was fast but had to remind them of a lot of things requested and not delivered. I’m not going to say Dock’s made me sick but that’s the only meal I ate and woke up having to rush to the bathroom. I knew something I had a couple of bites of didn’t look right especially with all of the flies flying around while we were inside opposite the lake side of the restaurant. My boyfriend said the burger was good and I gave him some perch which he liked as well. Other than that I cannot see myself ever going back when I can have better food for a better price in the other local restaurants. If we were just going out for drinks with friends it seems like it would be nice located on the lake but I can’t tell you if the beverages are worth it because I didn’t have one with my son...
