What a terrible experience from start to finish. We went on a Tuesday evening and the place was basically empty. The menu states that free rolls are served after 3:00. The waitress brought our group of four 3 rolls and apologized they are out. No big deal at this point. One person at our table orders the elk steak, another waygu steak, one butter chicken, and I asked for the elk steak. She told me there was only one elk steak left. I decided to go with the waygu. When she brought the steaks to the table my steak looked nothing like the other two so I'm not sure what it was. The waitress said she even asked the cook because it didn't look right and he said it was right to send it. The butter chicken was half hot and half cold. It was also ordered NO rice. The waitress brought it out and even noticed and said oops they put rice anyway, can you pick it out?. Clearly microwaved which they did not deny. When cutting into my steak it was well done and was ordered medium rare, she took it back and returned 10 minutes later stating that was there last one which explains why they served me some random cut of steak. At this point I didn't even want to order. We let her know the whole experience was terrible from start to finish. Short on rolls, no steaks, cold butter chicken not made the right way which was not eaten. The waitress disappeared for a while and came back and said she was going to waive an onion ring up-charge, 15% off the butter chicken meal and remove my steak meal since I didn't get it. The cook came out and told the table behind us that he searched the entire freezer and couldn't find any steaks, they had to order soup and sides . We kinda chuckled and the manager gave us an evil eye and decided she was going to deliver the bill herself. She was not professional at all. We let her know we will not be coming back and she replied with an okay.
They claim the weekend prior was busy and they ran out of a lot but by Tuesday on one of the upcoming busiest weeks in port Huron there's no reason to...
Read moreA Mixed Experience at Bootleggers Axe Throwing with a Surprising Twist
Venturing out with friends to Bootleggers Axe Throwing promised an exciting evening, and for the most part, it delivered. The pricing for axe throwing was indeed reasonable, and the availability of a variety of alcoholic beverages, both on tap and in bottles, added to the enjoyment.
While I cannot comment on the food, which appeared to be on the pricier side, I was disappointed to find that score sheets were unavailable during our visit. However, the staff improvised by providing blank paper, which was appreciated but not ideal.
One major downside was the limited space at the throwing lanes, which made it challenging to maneuver comfortably without feeling like you might hit the cage. Additionally, the condition of the boards left much to be desired, with noticeable damage, greatly affecting gameplay. You'll notice In some of the pictures the board we were on had numerous major gouges.
Despite these drawbacks, the staff remained friendly and accommodating, though there was room for improvement in the frequency of visits from personnel taking food and drink orders.
One pleasant surprise was the opportunity to earn free playtime by hitting specific spots, although it's crucial to ensure you receive credit, as photos are not accepted as proof.
However, the highlight of the evening was discovering the hidden door behind the weapons cage, leading to a speakeasy of sorts. This unexpected twist greatly enhanced the atmosphere and ambiance, complete with a piano player and seating area, adding an extra layer of excitement to the experience.
In conclusion, Bootleggers Axe Throwing offers a fun outing with friends, albeit with some room for improvement. Despite the challenges, the hidden speakeasy elevates the overall experience, making it a memorable...
Read moreHoly mackerel how did I not know about this place!
I am PICKY about salmon. Most places overcook it or it's not seasoned well. I usually just have it at home because my husband knows how to cook it right. But...it is SO GOOD HERE! And the waffle fries taste like Rally's fries. Like.. EXACTLY like them. They were so good. The side salad with the sweet and spicy vinaigrette was quite tasty though the dish it's served on is a smidge small and makes it hard to mix the dressing around without making a mess.
My husband got the smoked brisket sandwich. It was really good. The smoke on it seemed a bit light and the brisket was a bit dry. But that might be due to it being cut into before it had time to rest long enough maybe? Or perhaps it's due to how thin it's sliced? Either way the condiments make up for the lack of juiciness. He really liked his sandwich but the salmon was so good he was jealous of my meal!
While we ended up not getting drinks that day, we were impressed by the liquor selection.
We didn't do the axe throwing that day but want to give it a try sometime.
We'll definitely be back because if they actually know how to cook salmon, it makes me hopeful that they also know how to cook a steak right too.
The atmosphere was quiet without being quiet. Honestly, I normally don't like loud music so the volume would have been perfect but the station they had playing was good so I was sad it wasn't a little louder. I imagine on a busier day or time it would have been edging on too loud in there though. Who knows?
The staff were very nice. I never thought for a second that I'd have trouble getting my server's attention or that I would have to wait too long for anything.
This was a nice outing and I can't...
