Well, I was a bit disappointed in what I experienced at Sonny's. The waitress was friendly & came right over to ask what I'd like to drink after I was seated. I asked if they had draft beer. She said yes. I asked what they had & peering toward the kitchen area she said, "I'm not sure what we have right now; would you like me to go see?" Uhhh, yeah that might be nice as I'm NOT a freaking psychic! LOL. They had only Miller, Bud & Bud light. Underwhelming! I opted for water. I saw later that they had Yuengling listed as a draft offering & I asked her about it. She said they were out. Her explanation astounded me. "It's very popular so we run out pretty quick" Hmmmm....perhaps IF mgt ordered more? Just a thought. I ended up ordering the Sweet & Smoky (St. Louis style) ribs. For sides I chose mac and cheese & BBQ beans. You also have a choice of garlic bread or corn bread. The beans arrived piping hot and VERY tasty with nice chunks of brisket or pork. I loved them. The garlic bread was hot, tasty & toasted evenly on both sides. However, the mac & cheese was luke warm as were the ribs. The mac & cheese was fairly decent tasting & if hot would have been more than acceptable. Now, the main event...the ribs. I received 4 dry, barely warm ribs. With a description of "sweet & tasty" I was expecting some moist, flavorful ribs. Sadly that's not what I received. Without putting sauce from the bottles on the table, they had almost no taste. The ribs had at one time been cooked properly as they were not falling off the bone & properly cooked ribs shouldn't be. When you bite into them you should leave nite marks and these did. There was a nice smoke ring evident BUT there was NO moisture left in these ribs so I'm almost 100% sure they were left over from the day before. Since I arrived at 11:20 a.m. I'd say that's a safe bet. Since there was still fat on the ribs that hadn't been rendered & they were only warm, they hadn't been thoroughly warmed up yet. All-in-all, as shown in my attached picture, the lunch portion size is decent for the $9.99 price and you'd probably be full mostly due to the size of the sides. The sauces available on the table are: Smokin', Sizzlin' Sweet, Sweet (my fav) and, curiously, mild. I say curiously because the mild sauce tasted more like a Carolina mustard based sauce then a mild BBQ sauce. There's nothing wrong With that if it had been identified as such. IF I ever return I'll opt for chopped brisket or maybe the baby back ribs and go for dinner. The final insult was when the waitress delivered the take out box with the credit card tray sitting inside. Yuck! How many dirty tables & hands had touched that & them you want me to put my...
Read moreMy Wife and I were there on March 26. They had a huge party that took up the entire back wall. We were seated nearest to the bar up front. We were met immediately by a young waitress who introduced herself as Marissa. She answered a couple of questions My Wife had, and then went to get our drinks. She returned seconds later with our drinks. She and another young blonde girl were waiting on the large party. We couldn't help but notice these young ladies were operating at a blistering pace tending to this large crowd. Carrying huge loaded trays and hustling back and forth to the kitchen. I told My Wife, that although we were being entertained by this show of all out hustle, that we were probably going to wait for a while for service. From out of nowhere pops Marissa, and said, We got a "conflict" and paused a second to access her tablet. On ready to take our order, My Wife and I couldn't help but crack up over the look on her face when she said we have a "conflict." From that point on, I addressed her as "Conflict." She seemed to get as much enjoyment out of that as We did. Although she was definitely working very hard. After taking our Order she was off to the races again. It seemed like only a couple minutes, and there she was again, seemingly out of nowhere with our meals. I want to give props to kitchen too, I ordered the 1/2 Chicken and My Wife ordered the BBQ Sampler. Man when I say this was Top of the line BBQ, I mean it. It was the bomb. I'm not sure I've ever had better from a Restaurant. Great Job. So good infact, We had part 2 of it the following night for a Beach picnic. I promise, I don't normally take time out of my day to Review a Restaurant, meal, or personnel, but there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY, we could let this pass Without Throwin up a Salute to this Restaurant, the Meal AND these 2 young ladies for their Blistering Hustle while providing us with Quality FUN and Entertainment while watching them demonstrate their amazing craft. But MOST OF ALL, "CONFLICT", aka; MARISSA for making a very infrequent night out for 2 ole hard workin folks a night of Humor, Laughter, Great food, PHENOMENAL SERVICE and FUN.. Please keep it up, We will Be...
Read moreUpdate Thanks to the manager, Kristen Herb, I did finally receive resolution. I was only seeking the French fries that I had ordered, but she gave us a complete meal voucher. Everything was delicious and we had great service!
I placed a to go order for a family meal on December 6th, a Tuesday. I showed up and parked in curbside about 5 minutes past the time my food was supposed to be ready. I didn't even expect it to be ready yet, because the location tends to be busy. But, as directed on the sign at curbside, I called and said my name and what space number I was in, just letting them know. The server (I won't use her name here) replied, with an exasperated tone, "You're just going to have to give me a minute." I was really kind of shocked by the attitude, and just replied that it was no problem. But, I had not spoken to her with any kind of attitude or entitlement. I didn't deserve that. I had even tipped ahead of time. Still, I didn't bother to address it. I just waited patiently for my food. She was very nice when she brought it out. When I got home, we realized we didn't receive our fries (family sized). I called the restaurant and got the manager on duty. She took my email address and said she would send me a coupon for fries on my next order. No problem. I did also mention the situation with the server, both the bad and the good. She apologized. No email ever came through. So, I called again this past Monday (Dec. 12th). The manager I spoke to (I only mentioned the fries this time, not the rude server) explained the other manager had been from another location and must have forgotten. She took my info and said she would email the coupon to me. Today is December 16th, and still no email from my local Sonny's. I finally gave up and replied to the request for feedback email that came in after placing my order.
*edit to add: today is a week since I followed the directions in the response from Sonny's, and still no one has...
