I hate to give negative reviews. So, I have sat on this one for a couple of months. But, I feel like I can never go back to this restaurant. I ordered steak and ribs. A server (not ours) ran the food out, and I was presented with a plate of steak and shrimp. I am allergic to shellfish. I was shocked for a moment, and then told her I am allergic to shrimp and what my order actually was supposed to have been. She was taken aback for a bit. She moved the plate out of my face after a few seconds, but I had already inhaled the particles and was starting to react. She still just kind of stood there with the plate in her hand. I gently asked her to please take the plate away from our tablr, because I was having difficulty breathing. She apologized and left. I tried to catch my breath, and was having difficulty. So, I grabbed my inhaler and ran outside for fresh air. My husband wasn't sure where I had gone, so he went to look for me and make sure I was ok. Our server thought we had left, and came running out with my phone. But, we were on the way back in. I was breathing with just a little difficulty by then. The (I assume) kitchen manager came to our table. She didn't apologize. Instead, she lectured me for not saying I had a shellfish allergy. She said the server insisted she had repeated my order to me 3 times. That just wasn't true. She may have absolutely misheard my order due to how loud it always is in there, but she never repeated what she thought I had said once, much less 3 times. As for not mentioning my allergy, I just didn't think about it because I forgot they even had shellfish at TR. My husband got a little hot under the collar, because there was no apology and the kitchen manager kept insisting that all of this could have been avoided if I mentioned my allergy. I really didn't need to be piled on like that when I was literally struggling just to breathe. And, the words I'm sorry this happened are literally so simple a way to diffuse a situation. My meal was comped, which was kind. I was really unable to eat at that point, but I took it with me. We still gave a generous tip to our server, in spite of the fact that she lied. I understand she was probably worried about her job.
But, the way I was spoken to left me embarrassed and I just don't think I can...
Read moreOn vacation from the UK with my two teenage sons, we'd already tried a Texas Roadhouse in Amarillo TX and were very impressed so by the time we'd completed our road trip to Florida, we wanted our last evening's meal to be good! As we were staying in New Symrna Beach, the Port Orange location was just 20 minutes away. We joined the waitlist but the restaurant wasn't too busy when we arrived and we were seated straight away. Having only recently discovered the (apparently famous) Texas Roadhouse bread rolls with with cinnamon honey butter, we couldn't wait to try them again and drinks orders were takemn and a basket of the rolls arrived within a minute or two! Our server Sophie was a delight! Super friendly, chatty and attentive as well as making sure our drinks were refilled before we could even think to ask! Between us we had a chicken and ribs combo, a steak and ribs combo (with a skewer of grilled prawns on top!) and a 14oz ribeye steak. Everything was cooked to perfection and the ribs in particular were just incredible - falling off the bone and not too drowning in sauce. My sons both like their steaks rare and were delighted that's how they arrived. Side dishes were exceptional too including the garden salad. My loaded potato was divine and the fries / mashed potato were also great. The restaurant was starting to fill up a bit by now (despite it being a Sunday evening) and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The check came to $113 for the three of us which I felt was very reasonable for the amount and quality of the food. You can even pay using a little terminal on every table as well as browse the menu. The restaurant is easy to find just off I95 and has a little lake outside. I'd highly recommend this place and look forward to visiting again next time...
Read moreI have honestly never left a bad review anywhere before. But I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant in my entire life. I LOVE Texas Roadhouse. Bring people there any chance I get. So it started with the hostess. We get there right at 7:40, to get some dinner after celebrating my baby shower. There was 12 of us the restaurant was still pretty steady. They let us know it’s going to be about 15 minutes. At around 8 they ask us if separate tables next to each other are okay. That’s no problem at all. So then at 8:13 (I know because I checked the time) the hostess asks again if two tables next to each other are okay, I assure her that that’s okay. And then she asks “is it going to be one or two checks? I need to know because we close in 20 minutes. They do close at 9:00. I don’t typically go to a restaurant right before close but we did get there over an hour before they close. I have been a server bartender for 15 years and never have I experienced a host asking how checks are going to be split. Or try to make guests feel uncomfortable about being at the restaurant when the close in *47 minutes, not 20 minutes. So we get sat and the server had a serious attitude. Like I said I’ve been waiting tables and bartending for 15 years and I just would not treat my guests this way. The entire time we were there we felt like we were unwelcome but everyone we encountered. That is not a good service model. We work hard for our money and we chose to go there to spend it. Huge bummer because I normally love it there! I don’t mind waits, I don’t even mind if my order is wrong. I don’t even expect the staff to be super friendly! But there is not reason to be blatantly rude to your guests and make them feel bad about coming to your business to spend their...
