Except for our waitress, terrible. I hadnât been to this restaurant in many, many years because my husband resisted so much. I should have listened to him. (Heâs a prep chef for a well known, well regarded restaurant). I was craving their goat cheese appetizer which I loved on previous visits.
Walking in, looked and smelled out of date, quite musty actually and no updating at all, dim and gloomy. No one to greet us and very few tables filled although prime dinner time hour.
Finally seated by the host and given menus. And here is the thing that really was sad, the menu offered delightful sounding and plentiful options. We ordered two appetizers, the goat cheese and the calamari. Right away this led to disappointment. They were out of my prime reason for wanting to go back, the goat cheese appetizer. I was told this was because we were dining the day after Fatherâs Day. I couldnât hide my disappointment but, oh wellâŠthese things happen. We were served the calamari. Very large, thick, and greasy. The fried batter slipping off every piece of these overly chewy chunks. The dipping sauce tasted good but, was too thin.
I did also have a bourbon old fashion and my mother had a mocktail of some sort. These were quite good.
I ordered the shrimp and lobster penne pasta in Alfredo sauce, my mother ordered a California avocado chicken sandwich , and my husband ordered a hamburger. It took FOREVER to be served. But, I held out hope that this meant the food would be carefully and well prepared.
When served I hesitated because my meal just looked âoffâ. Before our waitress left the table I took a bite. The pasta was pure mush. I cannot recall ever being served pasta so overcooked. The Alfredo had the consistency of water, and there was no discernible flavor. I immediately informed the waitress the dish was unacceptable, she was very apologetic and took it back to the kitchen. A young lady came to the table, I am not sure who she was, she did not introduce herself. She explained that the pasta is pre-cooked. The issue with this is that when pre-cooking pasta to be served later in another cooked dish you are supposed to under cook it so that when added to the final dish and cooked you donât end up over cooking the pasta to the point of dissolving. She too apologized and she asked if there was something else they could serve me. I really didnât want to order anything else because it took so long to receive the pasta. In addition, my husband would have waited for me to receive my new meal while allowing his to get cold before he would continue to eat. The consensus was he would nibble while I tried something else. I ended up ordering the salmon. Waited quite a while for this to be served as well. A gentleman served my new meal. Again, no introduction. The fish was very dry and flavorless. The asparagus was alright.
My husband said his hamburger was âokâ but that there are other restaurants in our area serving a superior burger.
My mother felt her California avocado chicken sandwich seriously lacking as well. But she didnât mention this until after we left.
I was informed that the restaurant would not charge me for my dinner. That was appreciated. Another restaurant off the list of will return. Sad. I just donât understand how some of these sub par establishments stay...
Read moreBooked a semi-private room for my small wedding party to celebrate our marriage. Room and contract were worked out and submitted about a month prior to our event and we had 24 guests total. We chose a limited menu in order to do separate checks through our guests, and while our limited menu included 4 different entrees, we chose to add chicken tenders/fries as an additional option on our limited menu as we had several picky eaters attending. We confirmed this addition via email, over the phone weeks prior, and again over the phone the day before the event. Unfortunately when we arrived, we found our tables to be set up in 2 rows, though we were told upon submitting our contract tables would be set up in a âUâ shape. No big deal, we rearranged tables ourselves and things were fine! Our waitress was absolutely outstanding, but unfortunately she was the only person servicing our group of 20+ people, which meant waiting 20-30minutes between ordering drinks and consistently having to get up and go to the bar, despite the bartender assuring us we didnât need to get up and could just order drinks with our waitress. Food came out missing several peopleâs salads, which took another 15 minutes to get corrected. When entrees finally began to come out, out of the 8 or so people who ordered chicken tenders, atleast 6 received their meals with mashed potatoes and spinach as opposed to fries, and due to the slowness of service just chose to not correct it. Mashed potatoes were also unbelievably salty, likeâŠinedible salty. Iâm not one to go online and complain unless itâs really worth it, and again, our waitress absolutely did the best she could and was running around like crazy! Not a completely horrible experience, but I do feel like the amount of pre-planning and communication that occurred prior to the event should have warranted a much better, cohesive experience. There should have been atleast 2 servers for a party as big as ours, and overall it just seemed like the outcome of poor management and improper planning. If Iâm paying $32 for some chicken tenders/fries, I wouldâve atleast liked to have gotten what I ordered lol. Maybe not a bad restaurant, but I definitely wouldnât recommend it for a special event or large group despite their ability to offer private rooms/spaces for that. If it had been a rehearsal dinner (which staff kept referring to our event as such), it probably wouldnât have mattered much, but kind of a disappointing experience for our actual wedding dinner.
Editing to add as well: the room we booked was advertised to hold up to 32 people, we had 24 and were packed in so tightly our waitress was struggling to get through and get everyoneâs ordersâŠwe only moved 2 half tables for my wife and I to sit in front of our guests, so that didnât really affect the mobilityâŠI canât imagine how one could possibly have 32 people in the room we did and survive without a drink getting spilled...
Read moreMy wife and I went in to the restaurant last night for dinner and it was not a good experience (I toyed with giving them 1 star which is all they deserve for my meal. You can't give zero.). I specifically came for the Dayboat Citrus Scallops, a meal that I've had here before and enjoyed. My wife ordered the Lobster and Shrimp Alfredo.
We started with the Thai Calamari. This came out to us as greasy fried, square fish sticks? I'm not even sure what kind of fish they were. I have never, ever had Calamari that was not round and hollow and part of the tentacles.
We received our meals after a longer wait than usual and I looked down at my $30 Scallop plate and couldn't believe the mess I received. Everything was haphazardly thrown on the plate and the Scallops were a flat, overly cooked and overly butter drenched, mushy mess! I ordered Mushrooms and they were cooked down so much they resembled tiny round dots on my plate. The Broccoli however was cooked okay. Yay
My wife's Lobster and Shrimp Alfredo came out minus the Crostini's and with 2 little pieces of lobster and a few small shrimp.
The waitress asked how the meal was and I explained my situation, she got the manager and she said that she could provide a better representation of what I expected and possibly some Crostini's for my wife whose plate was 3/4's finished.
I did receive better scallops on the 2nd go round after another wait and my wife got her Crostini's while she was taking her last bites of Alfredo. But as you can imagine... these actions really never repair the evening. Next dinner out, I will spend my...
