We again were on a Sunday Search for Sustenance and today it was in the name of Pad Thai. In search of this dish we thought of Port Orange (exit 256 off I-95) to stop into along our way. I was given the recommendation of Thai Kitchen from a friend and am glad we stopped in. I saw a Handcrafted Thai Iced Tea on their menu and just had to try it. I asked for a sample just to make sure I wanted to commit since never trying it before and our server obliged! I was very pleased with the taste and was happy to receive the full mug topped with cream. I was so excited to find fresh Spring Rolls on the menu and ordered that as an appetizer. I must have been anticipating the first bite dipped in slightly spicy peanut sauce on the side that I forgot to snap a picture before trying it! I ordered the Khaw Pad Tom Yum fried rice. It arrived to me in the form of a mountain and tasted wonderful. My companion ordered the Pad Thai. To finish we shared one scoop of Coconut Ice Cream with Fried Bananas. We enjoyed it all! Their dining room is small, containing maybe 7 or 8 tables for 4. It made me wonder how long the line will be during popular times to visit once everyone learns about this little gem! Our server was very sweet, willing and always on the go! Very extensive menu offering. Would stop in to try something new again and again.

We decided to try somewhere new in port orange and decided on Thai food. Thai Kitchen is located right next to Panera on Dunlawton. The restaurant itself is smaller and was a little busy. We tried the dumplings as a appetizer and they were fantastic. They definitely looked different than the traditional dumplings you see but really tasted great!!!! The Pad Thai in a soy sauce and chicken was so delicious and had a nice kick. “Not too hot and not too weak”. I highly recommend you give them a try if your craving some decent Thai food. The only negative was the wait for food was pretty long.

This place is really good and has lot of options. If you are craving for some Thai and Asian cuisine this is the place. Usually it’s better to make a reservation as this place is always busy!!! I recently got the crispy duck curry..! OMG I can’t say enough about this dish. One of the best dish in and around Daytona beach. The duck was super tender and crispy. The curry had fruits in it which was a great sweet spicy combination. Get it spicy, because the sweet compensates for it. A must dish at this place. We also got papaya salad, it was just ok. Have had better papaya salads.

First let me say that the food at Thai Kitchen is very good. We have eaten there many times as well as having ordered take out. Recently, we ordered take out from Thai Kitchen By Saowanee. When we brought the 2 bags of food home, we realized that there had been a misunderstanding. Instead of one order of a particular item, they sent five. That same evening, I called to report the mistake and the owner (he said he was the one I placed the order with) literally became aggressive and blaming and just would not stop ranting. When I had ordered this meal, I did ask the owner to repeat back the order. He repeated it back very quickly and I didn't hear him say "5" of that item instead of “1”. I suggested to him that the confusion may have happened as a result of our different accents from our cultural backgrounds and I just simply didn't hear him clearly. At that point, the owner became aggressive and called me RACIST! That was the last straw for me as his behavior was entirely inappropriate. I became upset and told him I would return the four extra boxes the next day for a refund. The next day he did give me a refund, although he became verbally aggressive again at which point I became upset again. The bottom line is this....I have never in my 70 years of life experienced such rude and disrespectful behavior as I did by the owner of Thai Kitchen By Saowanee. I will NEVER give this restaurant our business again. Nor will all the friends we shared this experience with. If he replies back to this post with an argumentative attitude, you will see for yourselves what I...

Worst place ever. First of all, they tried to charge me $5 just to substitute regular noodles with glass noodles. That’s ridiculous considering glass noodles are actually cheaper than egg or rice noodles. At other restaurants, substitutions like that cost maybe $2 at most—or nothing at all.

Second, we were a party of three, and when we asked for spoons, the server only brought two. After asking multiple times for the third, he just kept forgetting. Who eats soup without a spoon?

Third, we asked for the papaya salad to be more sour and salty, which is a very simple request—just add a bit more lime and fish sauce. But they flat out said they couldn’t do it, which makes no sense.

On top of that, they never gave us napkins during the entire dinner. I didn’t want to mention it at first because I was trying to be nice, but thinking back, it’s just ridiculous that a restaurant would overlook something that basic.

The worst part was when we left. A Thai female worker shouted at us—we thought maybe we forgot a card or keys—but instead she was yelling for us to take out our trash, which was literally just one plastic cup, or else she would charge us a cleaning fee. I have never experienced a restaurant demanding customers throw away their own trash like that.

To be fair, the food itself was good, but the service and attitude here were some of the worst I’ve ever encountered. Definitely not worth...
