I’ll start by saying that I’m a partner (a Starbucks employee) and I’m very sad to say that this store doesn’t provide the Starbucks experience that customers expect and deserve.
Every time I’ve been to this location, I’ve had issues with order accuracy and poor beverage quality.
The partners who I’ve spoken to both inside the cafe and in the drive-thru have come across as disinterested, impatient, and honestly kind of rude. I mean, I get it, I feel that way all the time as a barista, but it’s very unprofessional and against our mission and values as Starbucks partners to allow that to slip into the customer experience.
I ordered a drink with toasted vanilla, and I specified that I wanted 4 half pumps, (the pump on the toasted vanilla bottle only dispenses half of a pump, therefore some locations will pump twice for every 1 pump that a customer requests). The barista who took my order put an “ask me” on my drink, which tells the barista who makes the drink to ask for clarification, and told them to put 8 half pumps instead of the 4 I requested. Obviously I miscommunicated, but I’m disappointed that they didn’t ask me considering I was standing 3 feet away, and instead made my order undrinkably sweet.
On several occasions when I have ordered hot milk-based drinks, the barista preparing my drink did not aerate the milk when steaming, they just put the steam wand all the way into the pitcher and pulled the lever. This resulted in flat, foamless milk that might as well have been heated up in a microwave.
The vanilla sweet cream, like at many locations, is very thin. Technically this is up to standard, but most stores that I’ve worked at prefer to add slightly more heavy cream than what the recipe calls for. This results in much thicker and creamier cold foam that can hold syrups far better than “properly” made sweet cream. Usually this isn’t an issue with the vanilla sweet cream cold foam, but the other flavors of cold foam frequently fail to, well, foam, and end up with a consistency and texture that can only be summed up as feeling like blended milk mixed with egg whites. Normally this can be fixed by simply adding a small amount of heavy cream before foaming, but when I requested this, I was looked at like I was a space alien.
Speaking of cold foam, today I ordered a drink with salted caramel cold foam, and what I received was a thin, flat, bubbly, and gooey attempt at cold foam that wasn’t even made with salted caramel, but with sugar cookie syrup.
This store, with a little guidance, could become a fantastic representation of all that Starbucks strives for, in a central location with high potential traffic. But until the numerous quality and service issues are addressed, this store won’t be uplifting customers, or nurturing the human spirit.
“Uplifting” is the key here. When all partners - from baristas to shift supervisors and managers stop at nothing to help each other grow, it enables and inspires people to strive for excellence, to never stop practicing, to make every cup with care and dedication, it translates directly to a better customer experience. By uplifting each other, we uplift the customer too. I hope that this store is able to better focus on following our mission and values, and that managers and shift supervisors are encouraged to more heavily promote quality of both service and beverages in the future.
Until then, I’ll stick with the store on...
Read moreThis is the worst Starbucks in WA State! They also have the worst employee's that I have ever dealt with. I believe this is due to the management and they would be awesome employees otherwise. You are only as good as your leader. The first day I moved to Port Orchard I went to this Starbucks right before they closed to use the restroom and buy a coffee. I was greeted and asked if I could use their facilities. The employees were closing up and cleaning but they still welcomed me and gave me the code. I used the bathroom. About 5 minutes in I heard a knock on the door! I said I would be out when I finished. I was shocked that I was already being rushed and it had only been 5 min. I finished up and headed out to get a coffee but I would not end up ordering because of the attitudes of the employees. I left with my jaw dragging on the ground in disbelief of how rude and stuck up the employees were acting. I still thanked them and left. This store is a quarter mile from my home and I would be there everyday but unfortunately the next time my husband and I went in for coffees it was so much worse. This time we were greeted by the manager and assistant manager. The manager a red headed gentleman and the assistant manager a dark haired woman. We did not get greeted like they are supposed to do and while my husband was ordering I said I needed to use the restroom. The manager laughed a really snotty laugh and said no your not allowed to use the restroom ever again after yesterday morning. I said I wasn't in the store yesterday morning but I was right before they closed and it only took me a little over 5 minutes. He snapped at me and said it took you eight minutes! They all giggled and he said you people are not allowed to use the restrooms. I assume he was talking about the homeless population here. I think this because there is someone that actually looks similar to where but he was not going to listen to me at all! Since then we have tried a few times to go back and order our drinks from them and every time we are not greeted even though they all greet the people before and after us. They say nothing to us at all. The final straw was the treatment of my husband who wanted to order food and was asking the woman with dark hair about some of the items. She would barely look at him and basically said we couldn't afford the food he was asking about and wanted us to hurry up. She was short and rude! This place is horrible and I have been to hundreds of Starbucks. I started asking around and I was right the homeless community here is treated like dogs lower than dogs by this man. They are never allowed to use the restroom and they will not give them water. It makes me sad that this person is so unprofessional. He is doing his employees an injustice by having them act so unprofessional! Corporate really needs to...
