She had her chance.
I like to give everyone a chance. I like to work with people, mostly. However, when someone starts out by blatantly lying, and I mean lying to the point that everyone looks at them and just shakes their head, I'm pretty much done.
Let me start off by saying, the gal who works in the front has always been lovely, lovely, lovely. She bends over backwards for you and I can tell she's bending over backwards to accommodate this "new owner that took over in November".
I ordered what should've been beautiful, wonderful, carrot cake cupcakes for my husband's birthday. When I placed the order the previous afternoon, I specifically asked if these cupcakes were made in the authentic carrot cake vein, using cream cheese frosting. I was assured that "absolutely" these have cream cheese frosting.
Not sure when cream cheese frosting turned into cheap sugar icing, but apparently that's what you get when you shop here.
Picked up the cupcakes, took them home. Arranged them for the party. Threw the party. Cut the cupcakes into pieces, gave my husband a whole one. First bite, all of us looked at each other with that "wow these really suck and that is not cream cheese icing" look on our faces. So yes, cheap sugar icing. Not to mention a wet sponge. No dense real carrot cake, just a soggy box sponge. When you look at my pic you can see that the cheap sugar icing weighs down the cheap squishy sponge. Good Lord if there was real cream cheese we would've had a flatcake.
Vomitous.
Thanks for a huge letdown on what should've been a lovely little birthday celebration Smallcakes and "new owner who took over in November".
Called Smallcakes. Talked to the lovely gal who runs the front. When questioned about the cheap sugar icing that was on the cupcakes she insisted that the "new owner that took over in November" uses "her own recipe and it does have cream cheese in it".
Lady, you've worked there for a while. You know the difference between cream cheese frosting and cheap sugar icing as does everyone else on the planet. We all grew up with real cream cheese frosting and we all grew up with sugar icing. Please. We know the difference.
Have the owner call me I said, let's have a conversation. I want to know how she can justify that these having cream cheese when in fact they do not. "Absolutely, I will call her right now and have her call you right back!" was the response.
Well, that was two days ago. No callback. Nothing.
Like I said she had her chance.
Sad spongy wilting cheap sugar icing cupcakes and an owner who lies about it.
Hey, "new owner that took over in November" you know what you're doing. You're substituting cheap crap for what used to be good. We know it too now.
Shame on you.
Maybe the old owners will come back and buy this place, because this woman is definitely not doing proper service to what really should be very simple.
And on top of it the lie. "These are cream cheese". Laughable.
Do better or...
Read moreI just wanted to take the time out to leave a quick review. Today was my boyfriends birthday and he requested that he didn’t want a cake. Needles to say around 8pm he wanted ice cream. While I was out in the area I remembers this little gem. I arrived approx 15 mins till close. (I hate being that person walking through the door when a store is about to close) Can I just say Kasey that was working the counter was absolutely amazing. It is very rare that I receive above and beyond customer service anywhere these days, but Kasey blew me away. Even though it was closing time she greeted me with a huge smile and welcome. I noticed there was no coconut cupcakes. It was a shot in the dark because I know my bf likes coconut anything. Can I tell you Kasey informed me she had toasted coconut in the back and was willing to created one for me. Not only that she even took the time to figure out the best flavor pairing for the cupcake. To me that made my night because I am way too indecisive. After ringing me up I had to ask her name because I feel like she needs to be recognized!!!! I left the store feeling valued as a customer!!! I would recommend this...
Read moreMy family and I went in on a Saturday afternoon. My kids are 5 & 7 and we were greeted upon entering. On the tv they were playing Nosferatu which is a horror film and indeed there were frightening scenes playing that I had to tell my kids out loud to not look at. They did not attempt or acknowledge to change or turn off the tv. We spent $32 on 2 small ice creams and a cupcake smash and a cupcake milkshake. The ice cream was the reason for my 2 star rating because it was good. The cupcakes however were not. Plain just like the other reviews mentioned. Another thing that threw me off was the lack of covering of the cupcakes. They were sitting wide out in the open which if you can imagine a fly could fly in through the door and land all over those things. Gross. Also there was no seating available so we were pretty much forced out which we wouldn’t have stayed anyway because of what they were playing on the tv. Won’t be...
