Nicky's Gyros — Restaurant in Portage

My daughter called me and said the Lure had reopened in Portage. Wow...take me back 45 almost 50 years. My daughters favorite burger joint. Well, it isn't the Lure its Nickys Gyros. This is OK. The place STILL has all the Lure trappings with what I consider a better menu. Nickys is a great Midwestern sandwich shop and the owners are obviously old pros. The food is reasonable and REALLY good with plenty to dig into. We are a cheeseburger family and the menu has much more to offer. When they get the dining room a tad updated and the world comes to its senses and reopens with gusto this place is a sure fire hit. The food is a solid 5 as are the prices. The only downer is the lack of help. These folks are feeling the need the rest of the country is feeling with a lack of quality people to fill good jobs. The place seemed overwhelmed but really digging in to fill the orders. Awesome. Give this place a try if you are still hungry after you eat here you're a hopeless case and you need a dump truck. I order from this establishment on a regular basis. This evening I decided to place an order a little closer to closing as I’m working midnights. The lady answered the phone and I could tell she was aggravated. But there was still plenty of time to get an order out. She asks me to hold the line and comes back on and states in a very rude manner “ya were closed for the night”. I stated it’s not even your listed closing time. She replies with “I don’t care. We’re closed for the night.” Now this has been an on going issue for a few nights that’s I’ve ordered. Most nights they accept the orders and are very quick about getting them out. But I’m down right sick of the lady that is constantly answering the phone in a rude manner almost making a statement that she doesn’t want to be there or maybe that the clients are bothering her.

Says you close at 10pm not 9pm not 930pm. Not 945pm. But 10pm. Honor your operating times or redo them. But most certainly don’t take it out on...

Ordered a gyro plate but we had to go over the order SEVERAL times with the young man but still seemed to not understand. They TRIED to not provide me with a receipt but I'm very glad I insisted until they fixed their receipt printer. Once I received my order I figured that it was done correctly so why go through the bag and check? Well I was mistaken because I did not receive my gyro plate instead I got a Pita bread with a little meat, no sauces,onions, NOTHING whatsoever except bread and dried up gyro meat. I called them back but he refused to send me via delivery my order that he messed up and instead resorted to go on a rant about how No one wants to work, everyone is lazy, they're instead thinking about shutting down soon. In the end the manager did not make anything. There's several more issues so I would just stay away from that place in Total. It has definitely gone down hill and the owner/manager Truly doesn't seem to care...
