went in Nov, just toddler and I, later in evening, food was awesome brought everything out, timed perfect. (but place was dead too) salad (weird looking but awesome dressing), soup, time to enjoy each item
hibachi cook was either new or tired, or just trying to hard to be funny not sure, have seen better (to me it's part of the experience sitting at the grill, show part wasn't good but wasn't bad, no stars taken away, cause food was cooked well & good and that's what really counts!)
Only took a star away because they started cleaning while we were still sitting there, us and another group (6 adults 1 kid), trying to finish desert, and their bleaching the floors, and cleaning the hoods above us.
didn't do our floor but at all stations around us, smell was strong, I was thankful when a women at the other party spoke up and asked them to stop cleaning the hood above our grill. (I normally do, but idk didn't want to be "that" person in front of another group).
there was still almost 20-30 min till closing time, I understand wanting to clean up and go home, but I like to sit a min and sip my tea, while toddler was eating ice cream, digest a little, before running out.
Hoping to go again for Valentine's Day, saw a slow day, let's see if just as good for a busy day?
OK would MUCH rather have the trying to hard to be funny gut than the absolutely NOTHING guy. Hubby 1st time at a hibachi grill, for $100 dinner for 2 with drinks, and a Mexican roll, tip, kinda expect something? anything? said hello just about it. could see the little guy bottle, the train whistle, but didn't touch them, no shrimp tail flip, no onion stack volcano thing :( should've ordered in and stayed home so rushed and 1st time had so much food, was stuffed, brought some home! this time, very little veggies, not mixed up well, I got all squash, lady next to me all carrots, he got all broccoli etc. one group wanted to leave right away, so we were all given our bills, we were still eating so was couple next to us. was waiting for ice cream or sake choice, couple next to us left, we asked and waited.
would've drank more but, brought his 2nd drink with the bill, and she didn't even bother asking me so I only had 1 glass of wine.
it's normally a fun experience, that's way dragged him there, was all quiet and awkward, tried talking to other couples, just got home gonna see what snacks, drinks we have around here.
see if there's another place around...
Read moreI've been going to Sakura for years, so it's unfortunate that I feel that I have to write this review. I can no longer bring myself to spend my money at this establishment, due to the way I have been treated there. The service seems to get nastier and nastier every time I order.
The first incident was when I ordered through Eatstreet. I went to pick it up and found that my order has been made incorrectly. I would have been fine with waiting for them to fix my order, as mistakes happen, but the manager was hell-bent on blaming me. He told me I ordered wrong and it was my fault, even though I literally had a print out of what I ordered online. After I showed him, I didn't get an apology and he just waved me off with his hand. I was pretty shocked I was treated this way, especially since I've been a loyal patron for years!
I was hoping this was just a fluke, but my experience there two days ago reaffirmed it. I ordered again through Eatstreet and picked up my order. When I got home and started eating, the sushi tasted very fishy and bad, which is not their usual standard of food. My wife and I only ate a couple bites and it made us very sick. We called Sakura, hoping to be refunded or credited for this food we couldn't eat. The manager told us it was our fault and that we had waited too long to eat our food. We live 10 minutes away and ate our food immediately after arriving home! As we all know, sushi does not go bad in 10 minutes. The manager was dismissive and nasty and I told him that he has permanently lost a customer. He responded with a flat, "ok."
I can't justify eating here anymore, especially when there's another sushi restaurant literally across the road (Kumo). I don't understand why they would treat a loyal customer of 6 years like this. This place has really...
Read moreCame in with a gift card and asked the hostess, who also turned out to be my server if I could use it at this location. I was told yes. So I had my meal, food was good, server was nice but then a manger came over (Arnold). He saw I was paying with a gift card and pulled in out of the payment book. He then told me that it could not be used at this location then tossed it back on the table. When I told him I had asked first he told me that the server was wrong and that she was new then walked off. I called several days later to speak the GM and apparently Arnold was the GM. He again repeated what he said before about why we couldn't use the gift card and passive aggressively stated " I'm sorry you perseved it that way". Then he followed it up with, "and I spoke to the server and she said you never asked beforehand." Which, was a bold faced lie. I was also told that even if I spoke to the owner he would tell me the same thing about the gift card. I'm just going to save myself future headaches and not come back to this location. At least the other location in Battle Creek is more professional about their mistakes and try to make...
