Alberta Street Coffee — Restaurant in Portland

During a recent stay at Hotel Casacada, my morning mission to fetch coffee for my wife led me to Alberta Street Coffee, and boy, am I glad it did! This isn't just another coffee shop; it's a gem.

I was immediately impressed by their menu. Being a fan of a more nuanced coffee experience, I opted for a cortado. For those unfamiliar, imagine a small mocha that's espresso-forward and delightfully unsweetened. It's a revelation, and the barista at Alberta Street Coffee absolutely nailed it. The balance was perfect, allowing the rich, high-quality beans to truly shine.

For my wife, a classic 16oz black coffee was the order of the day. They offered a choice of medium or dark roast, which is a nice touch for those who have a preference.

While I didn't get a chance to sample the food, I have to mention the breakfast sammy that came out while I was waiting. The aroma alone was enough to make my stomach rumble, and it looked absolutely fantastic. Next time, I'm definitely giving that a try!

I'm not sure why the reviews aren't better for this spot! I stopped by for a latte and was pleasantly surprised by the warm service and open and inviting space. The coffee shop shares space with the attached hotel lobby but it is a welcoming area to hang out. There was lots of room to sit and while I was there it was a peaceful ambiance. It's clear that a lot of thought has gone into making the space feel supportive of wellness. The lighting, seating, menu, and cold case offerings are all high quality and remind you that you are also in an area that hosts a wellness spa. We stayed at Cascada Hotel last night. Downstairs for morning coffee to the Alberta Street Coffee spot. I tried the pumpkin latte made from pepita milk. Delicious! All the milks are made in house which is very nice. Refrigerator section of Alberta coffeehouse deli case had incredible choices of sandwiches, soups,, breakfast foods and charcuterie options. Even with a $3 charcuterie board! Tough to decide so we bought lunch and dinner. All made in the Terra Mae restaurant kitchen and we are happy for such a wonderful new spot to go...
