Paid $14 for a cappuccino ciocolato medium size and an almond cornett. That's a little steep to start with, but more disappointing was I could taste no cioccolato at all in the cappuccino despite paying extra for it. The other disappointment is a typical portland phenomenon since the pandemic: the credit card machine tries to force you to leave a 30% tip before you've even had a chance to try the food or drink or have the service performed to see if 30% has been earned. You have to take up extra time in line to undo the attempt to charge you 30% extra for the tip, so you can instead leave a more fitting tip. Tired of being pressured in portland to pay 30-50% extra for counter service. A tip should be earned, not entitled. You're entitled to your employer paying you a living wage and if they don't you're entitled to go work elsewhere. You are not entitled to my wallet and the more you try to help yourself.to it the lower my tip will be. This barista generation needs to learn how to earn things through doing good work rather than feeling entitled to double the customary tip for making so so drinks and handing them...

Caffè Umbria`s roasting go back to the 1940's, when Ornello Bizzarri built his roastery in Perugia, Italy and I know this tid-bit only because I genuinely love their coffee and feel that this place gives an authentic Italian experience with their espresso based drinks . Located in the heart of the Pearl District, this is an ideal spot to spend some time people watching , just sitting by a book or hanging out with a friend or two. The café is spacious ,well-lit and has lots of seating both indoor and outdoors. I am a fan of the Gusto Crema and Bizzarri blend , as they make for really good drip as well espresso drinks(Cappuccino ,macchiato, caffè latte) . They also have a lot of pastries ,sandwiches ,pasta ,soups and other baked goods , along with wine and beer . Service is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUmbria cafe is absolutely one of, if not the very best coffee and cafe shop in Portland. It opens with 9 foot steel and glass doors into a spacious main seating area with two walls of glass letting floods of light in even on the cloudiest of days, with tasteful spots of lighting both hanging from the ceiling and tucked into the recesses of the false ceilings. The whole place is covered with sandy tile of different shapes and the seating is nicely spaced. All the staff is amazingly hard working and surprisingly unified, classy in both action and dress, and the food and coffee is of great quality. Their branding is spot on, light, timeless, bold, historic, and valient. Sometimes they have live music, jazz and other cafe types, and I cannot imagined being disappointed there with anything. In a word tasteful, in a few elegantly poised, and relaxed. I almost exclusively...
