I think the most important thing to start off with here is the coffee. I am a light roast person, so if you like black coffee that tastes sweet and acidic as plums or clean and tea-like, they have a roast for you. They have their espresso dialed in perfectly, and their drip hasn't failed me either (but I always drink espresso at a café because I don't make it at home).

So far I've had 6 of 8 of the roasts that are currently listed on their website and the one caffeinated roast that is remaining is currently resting on my counter. Their descriptions are mostly spot on with at least one of the three flavors they list being very noticeable at the least. Their roasts are a little more on the developed side of light (lean a little close to medium) but they are very solid and offer interesting flavor profiles. Also, I should mention that for the quality of the coffee, it's a great price, compared to their competition, it's a little unfair really. Even better prices at the cafe. The roaster is more than happy to talk to you about the source of the beans and what goes into roasting them.

on to the food. I haven't had anything other than pastries there (sweet rolls, and veggie turnover) but dough is so light, delicate and just the right sweetness that it's truly a treat to stop in.

The staff are more than friendly. They truly, and I mean the word, are involved in the love of the coffee, which only adds to the overall experience.

If you couldn't tell already, I'm in love with this place, probably more than one person should be. I just wished I lived next door, but in that case, my wallet would be worn thin. I can't wait to come back when a new roast comes in, the beans are very truly special, I won't be surprised if they sell...

The most wonderful, unassuming, yet still top tier, coffee house with a Portland address...and there are obviously a lot of good ones in Coffee Mecca (aka Portland, Oregon). This is my favorite place in the entire city to spend an afternoon working. I drive all the way from Southwest for the people and the wonderful spirit of the place, and of course, for the best cold brew in town (everything else will taste like old cold truck stop coffee after you try this). Their espresso and teas are fantastic as well. After having gotten to know the baristas personally, and hearing the story of Cathedral's construction and founding, it is now obvious to me why I've always felt such a strong allure to be present in this space. This place is built on real love, as much as any commercial establishment I've ever encountered. They make all of their own pastries and are always looking for ways to innovate their various selections outside of coffee. On that note, I am ecstatic to try their new brunch/breakfasts that began this week! God Bless...

Love this place! We come here on lazy weekends for foldovers (the best) and delicious coffee. It’s usually busy but the line moves quickly and they are always well stocked. Delicious seasonal drinks and a fantastic small selection of baked items. Everything they do is delicious.

Went in today with my 3 year old and our baby. Got my girl a kids hot chocolate with whipped cream, and she was so excited for it that she almost immediately dropped it, sending whipped cream and chocolate everywhere. The baristas were so accommodating (sorry!) and quickly refreshed the drink. On our way out she dropped it again 🤦‍♂️ Even then, they were so sweet about it and remade it without me asking, and even brought it out to us and I was talking to her outside the shop. It was a great experience for us and I wanted to make sure to share.

Come for the delicious coffee and pastries, stay for the neighborhood spirit and extra special service. Great place and we feel lucky to have it so close. Truly a...

Me and my husband visited this place during our weekend gateway to Portland. We went to grab a quick coffee as this place was right next to where we were staying. As soon as we entered, I was sold by the nice cozy ambiance and very friendly staff and we decided to grab our breakfast there and spend some time glancing thru the nice collection of books available on the shelf. My husband got baked sausage sandwich (something like that, don't remember the name correctly) and chai latte (he told both were awesome). I was not feeling much hungry as I had some protein bar before so got cappuccino (awesome) and they customized the menu as I wanted two eggs sunny side up. It was really nice time, I would definitely go back when/if I visit Portland again and recommend this place to everyone.

this coffeeshop differs from others in that everything inside and outside is made under the old style, tables, chairs, interior and so on. interesting, but in my opinion too much, because the view is as if no one has done repairs here for many, many years. I saw a different building made in the old fashioned way and everything was different there. the coffee here is soft without a bitter taste (for an amateur), the employees are very pleasant, polite and bistro work, I'm happy thank you. it's like a home environment. you can work and hold a business meeting and sit with a friend, there is enough space. I think for those who are close lives a favorite place, because there are always people here. good luck guys!!!

I stopped by here. I ordered an Americano.worse darn coffee i ever had. It was light roast drip. Not espresso (& espresso roast). And the kid solicits tips from every customer but does not make good coffee. Dark roast is smokey and flavourful. This foul brew was bitter Bitter !... It was clear i wanted Americano and he repeated my order to me. But wrong coffee was used. Americano coffee = shot of espresso & hot water.... Places like this make appreciate starbucks (which i loathe). To top it all off ordered a medium got a small..... When you offer espresso and americano you better use espresso roast ! So glad I left the self entitled half ash product Pacific NW
