This place is fantastic! According to one of the other patrons, it is recently remodeled and it shows. It is a one room dining room/buffet line, plenty of seating, and table cloths. No complaints on the decor or atmosphere. I can imagine if every seat were full, it might have been a little loud though.
For $10.95 it's an all you can eat lunch time buffet. I am a complete noob when it comes to Indian Cuisine, but I know when I put something tasty in my mouth. Everything I tried was wonderful. The rice was soft, the Tandoori Chicken was juicy and spicy, both the Goat and Pork Curry's delighted, and the Bean Curry was a surprise treat for me. It was a slow build, but eventually a spice fire was growing in my belly and so I tried something else foreign to me. To put out that fire I ordered a Mango Lassi, something I'd describe as being a mix of Mango Juice and Yogurt in an almost shake like consistency. As soon as you try it, I promise your eyes and taste buds will light up with joy. While all of that was enjoyable, the true star of the day was the Chicken Makhani! I want this as my last meal, I want this served in heaven, I want this in and around my mouth at all times! I LOVED IT! Highly recommend this dish and Dwaraka Indian Cuisine. 10 out of 10, would go back!
No review is complete without at least one complaint, I feel there is always room for improvement and it's important to have goals. It's hard to go wrong with Naan, but unfortunately, it was the least favorite part of today's meal. It was very dense and chewy, while lacking any kind of flavor. It seemed very much like it may have been prepared much earlier in the day and was not refreashed.
Still, I thank Dwaraka for their friendly staff, pleasant establishment, and delicious food overall. I wish you all...
Read moreI'm still fuming after the atrocious experience my family and I had at this establishment. The service was absolutely appalling, and I've never encountered anything like it before.
We visited with our 11-month-old baby and were looking forward to a pleasant meal. However, things took a turn for the worse when we accidentally spilled some rice on the floor. I understand that accidents happen, and we were willing to clean it up. But what transpired next left us stunned.
The guy at the register bluntly told us that he couldn't clean the rice and that we needed to do it ourselves. I asked him for a broom, thinking that would be the simplest solution. But to my surprise, he informed us that they didn't provide brooms for customers to use.
why were they expecting us to clean the floor in the first place? It was a ridiculous and unreasonable request, especially considering we had a young baby with us.
To make matters worse, the food was subpar. The tandoori chicken had a strong, unpleasant odor that was a major turnoff. We were really looking forward to enjoying a good meal, but the quality of the food fell short of our expectations.
Overall, our experience at this establishment was an unmitigated disaster. The combination of terrible service and mediocre food makes it unlikely that we'll ever return. I would strongly advise others to think twice before visiting this place.
The last words he said us after confronting him (HE SAID I KNOW YOU NEPALI...
Read moreDawarka would hands down be my favorite restaurant in all of Portland if they had better hours and were less testy with customers. I spend A LOT of money at this establishment as someone who grew up on Indian food and appreciates Dosa as my favorite meal. However they only take dine- in until 8 which is really under serving for business. I get that this is the right and autonomy of the business, but the amount of times I’ve recommended this place to new customers and then been denied sit in service is ridiculous. Tonight when I brought up the grievance of this to staff I was met with “it works great for me”… well of course it does. You are open 5 hours a day while the rest of us work countless hours. I work 12.5 hour shifts and get starving for my favorite food and can’t even eat it due to stingy hours and it leaves me bringing business elsewhere when I would love to give it here since I crave the food constantly. I spend $60-80 every time I come here which is often and usually leave 20%+ each time. I have to drive 20 minutes to get there or pay astronomical fees on delivery. At this point, I don’t feel welcome or valued which makes me angry because it’s the food I want to eat most. I might as well go to an all vegan restaurant such as “The Sudra” instead. I’m tired of the...
